This lens was on loan from Tamron UK for this review, however, they never asked me or paid me to say anything specific about it and I didn't have to show them this video before it was published. This is my honest and 100% unbiased opinion about this lens.

Really great review. Putting this on my list. Kudos to you for another beautiful video and also to your beautiful model.
Thank you kindly!
Fantastic review and sample shots. Really well done. I'm seriously considering this lens.
Thank you! Glad it was helpful!
It's a cracking zoom lens
Bro you are doing your best work these days! great video my friend
Thanks man! I appreciate that!
I was waiting for this review. Really nice.👍
Glad you liked it. thank you!
Thanks for a great review and amazing photos. I bought this lens 3 months ago for my Fuji X S10 and loving it very much. So versatile, and sharp at both ends. Vibration control is excellent.
Good choice!
Thanks for watching
Lovely review, very nice pictures!
Thank you! Cheers!
I just bought this marvellous lens in Singapore for S$1018 (US$750), after selling my SEL18105G. Agreed this is a perfect lens for travelling and even daily commute.
Good choice!

Thank you!
love your way of presentation man
Thank you!
Very good review!😊
Thanks! 😊
Great video thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Paweł, you nailed it. Very nice review and I fully agree with everything what you’ve said about this lens. I came a long way with my Sony a6400 using kit lens 18-55mm, Sony 18-135mm and finally acquiring Tamron 18-300mm which is a dream for a person like me who wants to do not be bothered with changing lenses on a field or carry a bag full of lenses to the city. Still, primes have their advantages but in the majority of cases (subjects) Tamron 18-300 is a fantastic and well executed “multi tool” to take everywhere.
Dzięki!
Good choice - I love this lens
Bought both the 18-200 and the 18-300 for my Sony and love them both. So sharp through the range. I am impressed...
Very good lenses. I love both of them
Why having both lenses, when the 18-300 covers the range of the 18-200 already? Aperture seems to be the same and the 18-200 is much older so even if i never had it for testing myself, i doubt it has better quality than the newer 18-300? Or am i missing something?
@@schnubbel76was going to ask same question
@1:35 the cat :"pls leave me alone." 😂
yep 😂
Very helpful video, bruh :)
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful
Pretty good looking model 🧛🏻
they both are!
Excited that this is coming to Fujifilm cameras!!
mw too!
Just received it yesterday for my XT2
Just ordered one for my a6000!
NICE!
You talk very nicely. :-)
You have a beautiful model. :-)
You take nice photos. :-)
And I agree that this lens is not suitable for smooth driving, although I'm working on it. :-) I bought it mainly for filming.
Thank you very much!
Thank you for the video. I currently have the SIGMA 18-50 and VILTROX 27mm lenses, and I'm considering a longer focal length, mainly for photography. The 18-300mm and Sony 70-350mm are on my radar.
I'm drawn to the convenience of the 18-300mm, but the online reviews are mixed, with some saying the image quality is poor. The Sony 70-350mm seems to have more positive feedback.
Is the image quality of the 18-300mm really that much worse that it's worth giving up the convenience? In my opinion, the 18-300mm may still be the more suitable option, but I'd appreciate your thoughts.
Thank you for your time.
I have the same question for my a6400. I have the kit lens 16-50mm and i'm thinking to get a zoom? Swapping the kit to the tamron seems economically wise choice but if the quality is that much more in sony 70-350, i don't mind paying more but i also dislike the hassle of switching while travelling. Mostly i'll be using it in my travels, hikes and rock climbing. So, how much is the difference in image quality, autofocus and stability compared to sony G lens 70-350
Excellent review, thanks. I have a big question I am doing an European Trip (holidays), I just bought the ZV-E10, need to choose the right lens for the trips, i like landscaping, castles people, daytime and nighttime photos. Between Tamron 11-20, Sony 11, Sigma 16, Sigma 18-50, Tamron 17-70 and Tamron 18-300. Which 3 would you choose? Thanks a lot.
18-300 gives you the most versatility but all others are brighter. The truth is that any of them will be great for ZV-E10 and travelling with. It's how you use them, you can easily adapt to wide angle only if you don't have anything else with you
The title here is wrong. Nikkor makes an 18-300 that is absolutely stellar--on a Nikon APS-C body. It works extremely well with Fuji via a Fringer adapter. What makes this special is that it is a native X mount--and the autofocus is maximized for the Fuji constellation. I just acquired the Tamron, after a year of shooting the aforementioned 18-300 and other Nikkor glass. Great for stills, can be a pain with longer focal lengths and video focus...
Who is here in 2024 still looking at this Lens? Awesome hahaha.
it is still a current model
Same. I've bought a used A6600 with a Sony 85-210 and I'm looking for something with a little better reach/sharpness without massive weight/size
I bought it last week and I'm fully satisfied. Already had a chance to test it in ideal conditions (one night trip with a light backpack) and it was awesome shooting with it. I moved from 16-50mm + 55-210mm double kit lenses that I had to swap all the time, and this lens gives me more reach which I frequently use, better image quality and I don't have to swap ever again!
Just got it yesterday. And compared it to fuji 70-300. Except stabilization image quality is comparable. Fuji stabilization is better
For the first view low light auto focusing is worse than Fuji %))
I’m wondering on getting it for travel and bring 1 lens only 😇
Great video does this lens fit to Sony A7 IV basically to any full frame cameras?
yes of course but in APS-C crop mode
Hello! What is the best or not expensive Vnd filter for tamron 18-300mm sony for video. I bought a k&f concept nano-d but when I zoom out to 200-300 mm the video is very noisy. Thank you for your response.
that's unusual. I use K&F filters and I do not experience more noise at certain zoom ranges.
Do you use auto ISO?
@@PavSZ my ISO I always set at the lowest number like ISO 125. I don’t know what the problem of my k&f ND filter. Maybe my camera I used Sony FX30.
I do like your colors. What are you using for photo color editing? Lightroom or photoshop?
Both!
Can you pls tell us about the sharpness of this lens at different focal length from corner to corner? Specially at wide angles.
all you need to do is watch the video. I have put the focal length with the setting of every photo.
It is way above standard sharpness at all focal ranges throughout the frame.
One question, how does it take in low light indoor situation like an concert or theatre photgrafic. Is 6.3 enough without noice. Thanks, great review.
it's all relative - how much light there actually is and how good your camera is at high ISO settings.
I wouldn't expect the same results as you get with f1.8 prime for sure
Very nice review, Pavel (as I see your name is). I'm very happy with the A6600, as I just came over from a Fuji XT1 (I still have it as well). I'm looking for such a lens. My Sony 18-135mm I am so impressed with, but I like the 300mm reach of the Tamron. It's either this or the 70-350mm Sony, which for just a little more would be a best option for me. Great job, and beautiful photo examples.
It is a solid zoom. I really liked it.
Thank you very much!
Very good :)
It is a pity that the anti-vibration can not be removed via a switch
it is a shame
Hi, I have a question. Which millimeter corresponds to this lens on a full-frame camera like the Sony s7 series. 13.5-200 mm or 27-450 mm?
it is 27-450mm on a full frame camera
Interesting. For eye autofocus, does the Tamron lens perform worse or the same as a Sony native lens? Assuming all the other settings are the same.
same (ish). Each lens works slightly differently. In general this one works as good as any Sony lens in this class
I was confused with the lens to buy with a6400... But this looks like the best all round option
very versatile lens
What about pairing this with a FF body like A7C for travel purposes? What about a comparison with 20-200?
it would work well with A7C but you are going to get crop. Smaller resolution photos.
Any plans to do the review for Fuji x mount also?
maybe in the future
Will it still be decent on an F mount of a Nikon z6? I’m always worried about the quality when using the adapter. I believe they sell a Nikon version of this lens now but not for mirror less
there is no Nikon version of this lens - you might be referring to the older DSLR one
I just ordered this lens Used for 499-00 US.. I saw your review after I pulled the trigger. Let's see how I like it... I think I may go for the Xf 50-140 just spend the money not as much reach but Quality. Im shooting Xpro2 and Xt4.. Will let you know.
it's not a bad lens, you might like it
i Just recieved this lens and I am pleasantly surprised by the build quality and images produced. Sharp enough for me and able to be very creative with this lens. Works great with my XT4 and love the versatility.
@@robertoalfalla256 Do you still use it, are you happy with it? I have mine for 3 months now and it still didn't lose its charm, it's great.
Tamron should be paying you, you've sold me on this lens 100%
haha - I wish they were
@@PavSZ thanks for the reply... And your content is crisp and clear ☺️ 👏
Is this lens sharp enough, I currently own the 2 kit lenses 16-55 and 50-210 from sony, would this actually provide sharper images while providing this great focal lenth
I'm not sure if it would provider sharper images. It will also hugely depend on how you use it. It is sharp lens with a very versatile focal range
Hi
Thanks for the video. Do you have a link to Amazon to buy it? Lee
it's pre-order only everywhere right now so not Amazon yet.
I'll add the links as soon as it is available
@@PavSZ thanks sir.
Hey Pav, please tell me, that lens isn't stabilisate is it a reall handicap when your hands is really sure ? (i mean my hands, not yours hehe) ?
i'd like also to ask you if we use it clean with filter like IR of FLD ? (you see, i have a 70-350 sony and i can't use any filter, it makes me so many aberration each time..)
i thank you a lot in advance !!
You didn't obviously watched all of my video - this lens is stabilised.
The problems you are encountering with your Sony lens could be due to your filters and not a lens itself. This lens is as good as any.
@@PavSZ excuse me Pav, i told you before my english is very poor hehe, i didn't mean this lens, but that lens, every Tamron lens, but nevermind, my a7r isn't stabbilized, so i'm looking for a good one, but by looking your video entierly (i watch always you video untill the footage before to comment ;) ) i notice this is a aps-c and not FE.. start to be complicated all that.. but my question was about un-stabilized tamron lens
so do i need to bring a tripod with me anytime in this case ?
How do you enable and disable the stabilisation? I have a Sony A6400 and it has no IBIS, so I'm wondering how you turn on/off the image stabilisation. In handheld situations you want it on, but on a tripod you want to turn it off.
you simply don't. I had to switch lens stabilisation off in the past with DSLR cameras or I'd get slightly blurry pictures. I never had this issue with any mirrorless cameras and I personally never bother switching the stabilisation off on the camera or on the lenses
@@PavSZ Thank you for your reply! So you're saying that the image stabilisation is always ON with camera's that dont have IBIS? I'm about to sell my current 18-135mm and to buy the 18-300mm tomorrow. I need to be sure that the image stabilization will work on my A6400 (no IBIS) :)
@@NeoMullen Did you get this lens? How would you say this is compared to the 18-135?
@@mohsin_sait yes I bought the lens and it's awesome. Keep in mind that taking a razorsharp picture at 300mm needs a steadier hand than at 135mm. But I'm really glad I bought the lens and I would recommend it. The extra zoom gives you the opportunity to take a different kind of picture.
Hi Pav. Has the lens barrel smoothness improved overtime? I bought one of these today and creating video with it is already frustrating!
hm, I'm not sure if it will. The zoom in these lenses is not really designed for filming or zooming in when filming with
@@PavSZ oh dear. That’s money down the drain then 🥹🥹🥹🤣
@@PavSZ their 28-75 works like a dream. Why is this one so different 🤷♂️
@@john.7966 good question
ty for the info... can u clear or anyone can clear my confusion that ithis lens supported to lumic DC-g95
No. Lumix DC-g95 is a micro four thirds camera and this lens is only available in Sony-E and Fuji-X APS-C mounts
@@PavSZ thank u very much 😁😁
What about sport shoting and video? Is good like sony G 70-350 mm.?
Maybe it is - I never had a chance to try Sony 70-350mm yet
how is this compared with the sony 70-350mm?, especially the sharpness at max focal length (300mm)
Sorry but I never used Sony 70-350 however I couldn't find anything wrong with the sharpness of this lens at all focal lengths, as my samples show
@@PavSZ Thanks!
I got this lens for my Sony a7s3 after watching this video and when I have it in video mode I can’t get this vignette circle off the video. But When I switch it to photo mode it goes away. Do you have any advice?
Also I have found that when I’m in file format XAVC S HD/ XAVC S-I HD the vignette goes away but if I put it in any of the 4k modes it comes back
that's because this is an APS-C lens designed for smaller sensor cameras than your a7s3.
You can't switch a7s3 into APS-C mode but you can use clear zoom function to get rid of the vignetting. Google it
How does this work for sony a6400 for travel all rounder?
it should work just the same on a6400
"Doesn't weigh as much as your house"
Me: That poor guy eating his meal....
what does it mean?
I just got this. can someone tell me how to change the apature, even on aperture priority mode, it stays fixed, based on what length I'm shooting on. is it supposed to be this way? I bought an used one and I hope it's not a faulty issue?
it does not sound good.
Put camera in M manual mode and see if you can change the aperture manually.
@@PavSZ so I put it on manual, and I can see a new scale come up at the bottom (aperture scale?) that scales left to right when I move the ring but does nothing to the blue F stop number on the screen. I changed it back to SS priority and wanted to use my camera nozzle to change the blue F stop number and I can get that to change the number now but it goes past 30! I don't think that's ... normal?
but okay thank you, this is nuts. and I'll be returning it, even though I got $200 off for it and it said it had a minor exterior scuff. there's something wrong w this
@@TheTrippleTKA what camera are you using?
Have you got other lenses to try the camera with? Maybe it is the camera related problem
@@PavSZ Fuji x T30ii. I have the 18-55 kit lens and 27mm and 55-200 mm fuji lens. They all change F-stop numbers on the screen when i use the button I set for F stop or the aperture ring on fuji lens. so i don't think it's the camera. Would it be too much to ask if you could kindly use your lens and record what it shows on the screen when you use your aperture dial vs button on the camera. It'd be a lot. It's still 2nd day. I have 28 more days to return it but if you could do a demo or something, that would be awesome!
@@TheTrippleTKA I do not own this lens or Fuji T30II to check this but it might not be the lens. Fuji lenses have aperture ring and this hasn't. There will be some setting in T30II that prevents you from changing the aperture with this lens.
Very hard to advise without actually having the lens, camera and the same problem here
I would be interested to get some help by compare to 28-200 or 70-180 in regards to the OSS. With the 6600 what would be the best choice talking versatile and low light capability by using Image stabilisation.
these two lenses are world apart - different class. I have no plans on comparing them both size by side.
I have however reviewed them both independently here on my channel
I just got one for my sony ZV-E10 and its been raining all day so I cant try it. So Im watching this video
you won't be disappointed - great lens
Hey ! Do you think this lens is made for sports shooting?
hm - it would be OK on a bright day I guess
@@PavSZ i shoot every time indoor.. complicated ?
It must be good 😊
very decent lens
And very good review 👍
Any difference with this and 18-400mm Tamron other than the zoom and focal length?
this is a new model designed for mirrorless cameras
👏👏👏
thanks!
WHAT IT'S BETTER
18-300 OR 18- 400?
better for what?
Only you can answer that question based on your budget, preferences, shooting style etc.
