this is clearly not an appreciation of desi culture, our people love it when people try out things from our culture, and genuinely show interest in it. This isn’t appreciation, it’s appropriation. Someone at this company decided to watch a few desi videos and decided to make a concept out of it. Let me give you an example to put it in perspective for whoever is still having difficulty comprehending this (and thats okay). It’s like someone from India, makes a music video with korean elements in it, makes an outfit from koreans traditional clothing, imitates a few korean traditional dance steps and there you go, they call it an aesthetic. Notice how offensive that is? If not offensive, it’s still culturally insensitive. We are so tired. And I think there’s another parallel to be drawn here, it’s even more problematic when someone picks out the parts of the culture that they personally like, and paint it as “appreciation” while they don’t acknowledge the history, and don’t respect other parts of the culture. Here’s an example, Korea loves cornrows. (What they call as raggae hair) but at the time are blatantly racist towards black people. (Before someone says not everyone, I know, I know. But most, enough to make it a problem.) People can’t pick and choose from a culture. Period. If you’re not an Indian, you have no rights to call out an Indian on being offended by this. Not an Indian but seriously KPOP IDOLS and their respective companies should atleast be educated about cultures and it is not appropriate to use it as an aesthetic. A lot of kpop idols are already called out because of the same matter. Does it really hard to respect a culture? Why not pick up some concepts that is not related to cultures?
As I said above, I am not an Indian. I'm an Asian.
Seriously, just stick to the horror concept or literally ANY other concept! CA is a serious matter, it isn't hard at all to just ignore it!
@KARMA are you Indian? If you are then educated yourself about the culture and traditions and if you're not Indian then you need to shut your mouth :)
Do you even know what the bindi means to Indian women? Bengali women wear it on their Wedding day and it's not an accessory that you can randomly put in your video
@KARMA have you heard paint the town by Loona? It has Indian beats that every bollywood movie has so it wasn't cultural appropriation cuz it didn't show anything offensive to our culture. The bindi and chandan these girls are wearing has a very big value
And yes you aren't even Indian so you don't have any right to speak on this, go back to dancing
@@user-xy1hu5pv8q bruh what about Bollywood item songs they also wear bindi and all isn't that "cultural appropriation" and bindi is so common in India ok anybody wears it even if they are not married
this is clearly not an appreciation of desi culture, our people love it when people try out things from our culture, and genuinely show interest in it.
But most, enough to make it a problem.)
People can’t pick and choose from a culture. Period.
If you’re not an Indian, you have no rights to call out an Indian on being offended by this.
If you’re an Indian, and this hurt you. I’m so sorry.
If it doesn’t affect you, cool, sit down and don’t speak for other Indians. {plz shut up if ur not indian, thanks}

(Imagine an Indian pop artist wearing a Hanbok with korean folk song going loud in the pre chorus) Notice how offensive that is? If not offensive, it’s still culturally insensitive. We are so tired.

The whole argument of people should share cultures and celebrate each other's history is right, of course that's what made the world what it is today. But this isn't sharing a culture folks, this is mockery. You want to share cultures? Cool, learn about them, learn to respect them, take time to understand them, credit them, and appreciate them. If you're telling me wearing bindis on your forehead without knowing the actual meaning of it, just because they looked like "cute little aesthetic dots" is appreciation and sharing for you. My friend, I have some bad news for you. You failed your history class back in school.

Buddhism is very majorly practised in Korea and honestly, I think unless they actually wear something except for a bindi which transcends across South Asian countries-and the new borders dividing India and other countries is considerably new.
