She literally met luke before in the book of boba fett which takes place before this show..: the literal son of anakin and look how he turned out, and leia, and anakin did turn to the good side, so why on earth is ahsoka worried about that? Who knows. Why on earth didn’t they have an emotional impactful dialogue of her feeling some guilt of pain regarding anakin turning to the dark side and order 66? Nah, just ambiguous live or die. Was he a force ghost or what? Who knows. Does thrawn have an impact? No because the sequels are directly after this and the main antagonists of them don’t even care about thrawn, he has nothing to do with the first order, Rey, the resistance etc. What is heras arc in this? Who knows. This show creates more questions than it answers.
I love the new thrawn canon novels. Seeing Thrawn use his genius and newfound remnant group to save his people from the grysks or some other threat would be awesome.
I think this would be great to incorporate into new Disney cannon and it would actually make Thrawn an upgraded threat than he was previously. Along with this, he’d ensure it’s utmost security and that any vulnerabilities are kept in check. Do it Dave!!
I think that this fleet would serve well in a second season. As cool as it would be to see all of these ships show up with Thrawn, the problem is getting them from point A to Point B. In the last episode, Thrawn gives orders to kill the whales. If Thrawn needed the whales for transport, he would give orders to use the whales. Now, if he used the witches to find the ships, use ghost troopers to staff the ships, and used the witches to move the ships back to the galaxy…then that would be pretty awesome!
No, whats more terrifying is Thrawn reuniting the imperial remnants under his command. The New Republic doesnt take the empire seriously anymore because they're divided, scattered and would rather go to war with each other than reclaim theyre lost territories.
I agree with you, both that Thrawn from Zahn's original books is the real Thrawn. I also agree that Filoni takes what he wants and use it aa he pleases. So I think we are up for something completely different.
I think it’d be interesting if given how many imperial loyalists are the New Republic a large portion of the NR military defects to Thrawn’s side. I think it would give an interesting reason for the NR choosing to demilitarize so heavily by the time of the sequels as they couldn’t even trust their own military.
The idea of Thrawn already having a big fleet would feel very Episode 9-ish... So, instead of that how about this: Once Thrawn arrives in the home galaxy he should immediately go on a quest to find the Katana Fleet. Perhaps the fleet got scattered somehow and Thrawn must collect each portion of it, Thanos-style, while having to deal with the New Republic and others who get in his way.
I have a novel thought - I don't know about the Katana fleet, but what if Thrawn's fleet is already being paraded before our eyes. Those brand new Cruisers the Republic has introduced in the series - we saw a bunch of them being built in orbit over Corellia when Ahsoka and Hera were investigating Morgan's operation and found Imperial sympathizers there. What if Morgan's operation runs deeper than that than purloining hyperdrives from Dismantled Star Destroyers? What if she has/had people who had access to the new ships and could install some sort of hidden Trojan Horse programming that at the flick of a switch automatically revert those Ships to Imperial Control?
They would have to set up the lore surrounding the Katana fleet. Seems like this could possibly be an arc for season 2 but I doubt it. Would be incredible to see.
Thank you for capturing the haunting nature of the Katana fleet. I genuinely got chills reading about it a few years ago, and you nailed the feeling in your explanation of it. Slave-rigging a bunch of ships together is a great idea on paper, but has massive risk tied to it. Just the thought of that many ships connected together, adrift somewhere in unknown space just waiting to be claimed sends a shiver down my spine because of the sheer potential of it. Also, isn't Boba Fett's ship Slave 1 slave-rigged too? (No pun intended) I think I remember reading that somewhere because he has full control over its systems with a keypad on his bracer. Even for one ship, the layout of that level of control can be devastating in the wrong hands, and that's what makes the Katana Fleet so incredible.
Theory you may have covered this but did you notice in the beginning of episode 6 when the night sisters say it wreaks of Jedi and then it flashes to Baylan!? I bet you he was using the force to project his identity onto Sabine and he really is a Jedi. But more like a Qui Gon, Revan type Jedi. And that the planet has something from the old republic regarding Revan and that’s how they introduce him to Star Wars universe! Would love for you to do a theory on this!
Never knew about the Katana Fleet before this video, but the way you described it at the beginning of your video just echoes Thrawn's philosophical side.
I’ve seen rumors that the retelling of Heir to the Empire might adapt the story and have Ezra & Shin Hatti end up being the Luke & Mara Jade. And maybe Thrawn comes back and warns the new republic of a coming invasion from the unknown region.
i'd be simply terrifying to see 200 dreadnoughts... imagine the sheer power of those, dispatch 10-15 to vital positions and the new republic is completely crippled
I really love the old Thrawn trilogy. Especialy that Thrawn respects his Co-Workers. At one point in the books, one of his captains has an idea that Thrawn didn't think of and he promotes him unlike Vader who would've killed everyone daring to say something against his order. Trawn has honor and says that not everyone can think of all, not even himself. This trilogy and Darth Banes are my favourite stories in star wars
Can't help but remember the Eternal Fleet used by the Zakuulian empire and Darth Vitiate / Valkorion thousands of years ago. It's a lot similar in concept but the fleet was controlled by whoever had the throne and all the user needed to do was dish out the order.
Thrawn could be the big threat to the New Republic post-RoTJ, but Disney won't let it happen with the sequel trilogy being a thing. It just wouldn't make sense for the New Republic to demilitarize and blow off the idea of a rising power to challenge it if they fought a huge war against Thrawn. I hope Ahsoka is setting up for Mando S4 which will wrap up with the movie, but Disney can't fathom a better storyline than the one they gave us in the sequels overriding the canon they've already set in place.
I think the hyperspace ring already served its purpose which was to transport Morgan to Thrawn on the other Galaxy. Although in the book Outbound flight there is a similar ring that all the ships dock to to jump over to the next Galaxy. However before they make it they are attacked by Thrawn
I think Grand Admiral Thrawn will do both. He is bringing his fleet and his hoopty ship, but he has been building an army the whole entire time with him all of his gang of darkness from the last season of the Mandalorian. Whatever happened to him on Peridia took out a lot of his troops. So, he's going to need some time, but not very much for an attack. I think that if Moff Gideon is still alive, he is going to be a dead man for doing experiments behind everyone's backs and his disrespect for Thrawn.
I think there will be a reference to it as Zahn did help write for ahsoka... but on the other hand the fact his ship is in the condition it is in leads me to think he hasnt found it... or maybe he does know its location and is waiting for elsbeth to show up with the ring and they will jump there...but as you said maybe they are waiting in the system that peredia is... or side thought...maybe the reason why he star destroyer is the likely last of the 7th fleet is because he came in contact with the katana fleet and it decimated them
How? The Ring from Elsbeth is big enough to bring Thrawn's ship back to our galaxy, how can 200 Dreadnaughts follow him? And i don't think "magic" from the night sisters will make that happen, then they wouldn't need help in the first place to go back.
Thrawn and the sisters are in another galaxy currently, when they arrive back into the Star Wars galaxy they’ll likely be in the outer/unknown regions, where the katana fleet is supposed to be still
@@tedrow70that would really come out of nowhere. Literally. No one has ever mentioned the Katana Fleet before, I hope they find a better, more creative way to even the playing field.

I like the tone and transitions in this vid, felt unique compared to the recent videos. Awesome job theory, also that would be epic seeing Thrawn with a huge fleet that size 🔥👌
This might be a nice theory, but a lot of theories like this usually don't happen sadly, I thought I would be surprised in some areas in star wars, for it to never happen 😢
Could the fillet be what Palpatine used in Rise of Skywalker? Those all were dredknots also and used the same communication link and it was their weakness also. Maybe Thrawn searches for them and we find out in the Faloni movie that thrawn knows their location but is stopped before locating the fleet and sidious or his contingency plan may have connections to his intelligence to locating the lost fleet. That would explain how palps had that many ships in such a short time.
Theoretically, they could do other things with how the fleet is found...I wouldn't be surprised if the Chiss knew of the ships and where they were but due to the virus (or something similar) at the time, they just left them where they lay...Thrawn deciding to use it since the virus might have run its course and burned out
Thrawn and the 7th Fleet were already a nightmare for the rebellion back then Imagine how much more of a pain it'll be when he's in command of the KItana Fleet
Theory I love you and your content, and you’ve always been my favorite Star Wars content creator, but can we please relax with the clickbait titles? It makes you look more like the kind of person that some people think you are
@@zcorpalpha2462 Don't get me wrong, I'm a big supporter of Theory, but this title just feels really crappy and a lot of the other recent ones haven't been much better
Well, we know from Bad Batch, Rebels and Mando the Empire and specifically Palpatine was interested in the cloning, ofc for himself to secure his life. So him having activity on Exegol long before his sudden death. Palpatine was always ahead and planing dark things, even using magic. So it is likley, he always had plans for the Sith Eternal - maybe within time we learn that secret remnants of the empire headed to Exegol to build the structure of the final order
I doubt. The only thing familiar from Legends are the slave rig system, the linker of Palpatine's Star Destroyers. The katana fleet itself isn't present. It's logical from Palpatine to reuse the slave rig system, the only thing left after its original katana fleet got lost.
The hyperspace ring is for thrawns ship Last episode you saw the state of the thrusters on the back...half of them aren't functioning so he can't jump back without it
Zahn didn't change Thrawn for the canon books. He is very similar to his depiction in the Legends Outbound Flight book. I will be disappointed if Filoni ignores this character development.
The problem with Thrawn acquiring the Katana fleet is that in the end it would be irrelevant since we know that in the sequels the republic is well and healthy
I never knew about the Katana fleet. But hearing you explain it makes it sound eerily similar to the eternal fleet from SWTOR in terms of being controlled from a single vantage point controlled by what could be characterized as a “skeleton crew” as only 1 SCORPIO Droid was needed to control a single dreadnaught
Interesting idea, the only problem I have with it is that if Thron shows up with this. It completely underlines all the narrative setup from the Maldolorian and what we have seen with the shadow council of the old imperial remnant.
Plot twist, Katana Fleet is captured by the new Republic. However if Thrawn had the Katana fleet he could of stripped one or two for parts to fix his Star Destroyer.
I thought the whole point of Heir to the Empire was that Thrawn nearly took the New Republic with just a few ships and his brilliant strategic mind. Also they need to acknowledge how Thrawn's only true allegiance is the Chiss Ascendency, and how helping them would realistically be his only motivation for restoring the Empire.
Some issues I have with the theory: 1) If it was made after the war and lost after the war how would Thrawn have heard about it unless he stubled upon them while he was exploring his new galaxy 2) If he did find it and does get back to the prime universe with it how would any of the events of the sequel trilogy be possible without mentioning the new war the would take place without completely retconning the sequel and 3) If he had found the fleet why wouldn't he be on one of those ships and how did Morgan and all them miss the 200 ship armada once they got to the planet. I don't see how any of those questions could be answered.
To be fair, Zahn started the whole "Thrawn is not such a bad person after all" thing in Legends with some of his later novels. Disney can't be blamed for everything you know.
Also I have a theory on whatever Thrawn found in the unknown regions. I believe he found some physical object that Palpatine attached his dark side essence to when he died and this is about to show us sort of how Palpatine is able to be “re-born”
If it was any other fandom, it wouldn't make sense, but the prequels demonstrated Imperial (and post-Imperial) weaponry doesnt' appear to have changed very much, meaning it probably wouldn't be considered as obsolete. 'Star Wars' technology is, honestly, very weird and inconsistent. up until 'Rebels', it wasn't even properly canonised that Imperial fighters had no shields - that was more an invention of the games. In the movies, TIE fighters and X-Wings blew up as easily as one another, meaning shields must have either been useless or Imperial weapons were far more powerful than rebel ones were.
I think the ring is designed to fit Thrawn's SD and that's it. Certainly not a fleet that blind jumped until it ran out of fuel. Most ships don't have fuel and engine speed to hit another galaxy, I'd imagine.
Not sure what they plan to do or if there is a Katana Fleet out there...what is 100% for sure is they can't end this story arc in 2 episodes. Season 2 + the Filoniverse movie is the bare minimum needed to complete a well played story imo.
I think the Eye of Scion is only big enough for one Star Destroyer so I think it will just be the Chimaera. I wonder did any other other Star Destroyers from the 7th Fleet end up at Peridea and what happened to them?
The sequel trilogy established that a defeated Empire has/had enough resources to make Star Destroyers much larger than Vader’s, as well as a “Death Star” that was actually planet sized. What’s my point? Zahn’s books were written assuming that resources were limited. “Free ships” (and clones as prequels didn’t exist and we didn’t know clone history) were enough to tilt the balance (if your leader was a military genius). Disney-cannon doesn’t have (enough of this) scarcity. Empire still flush. First/Final order able to built whatever. This idea doesn’t fit into the current cannon in other words.
They do have scarcity, otherwise Mon Mothma would have responded to the attack of Morgan. The fact that villains have unlimited weapons from their ass is just the problem of the sequels, not the whole canon.
Star Wars loves to rhyme itself. To make the katana fleet feel the same yet different it would be great if Abeloth through reanimated Ventress would suddenly kill Thrawn and took over his katana fleet to hyperspace bombard various systems, like in The High Republic, and Luke Skywalker would have to stop her. It would feel like rhyme of Rise of Skywalker, rhyme of The High Republic as well as bringing back from Legends unexpectedly suddenly killed Thrawn by his powerful allay, and Abeloth and Luke Skywalker conflict.
Makes sense. The Zahn books had a LOT of great content in them, so in most cases I am always up for using that source material if it is legit to do so. Personally, I don't think we'll get it. I think Feloni is more pushing Thrawn towards mastering the fastest travel possible, not just to escape, but so he can , in the future, strike in any number of spread apart places and therefore defeat the New Republic through the speed and unpredictability of his offensives. Then again I also thought that Luke was going to be Grandmaster as a Gray Jedi by teaching the force with balance, and that sure didn't happen...
This is great. But also a warning. I think Thrawn shouldn't relay on this. This is dangerous. He shouldn't do this. I think he has giant fleet somewhere. I'm sure of it. Somewhere beyond Unknown Regions. Have an awesome day too! May the Force be with you too, always😁
I think we wont be seeing the Katana Fleet yet in this season but more like on the next. We need a new big space battle again in Star Wars. I've been very impressed with the Ship VFX in the show and I think its time to big with it. Give up a space Battle worthy of that of the Battle of Endor in ROTJ and Battle Over Coruscant in ROTS. I dont want it to be just ship spam that they did with Battle of Exegol. I want a really detailed tactical space battle where we see Thrawn take command and lay it on the New Republic.
I thought they found the remnants of the Kitana Fleet in 'Heir to the Empire' - smuggler Talon Karrde found them and the New Republic tried to take possession but lost them to the Imperial Remnant under Thrawn. I think the majority of the ships were still missing, and many of those remaining were destroyed.
The Eye of Sion is only big enough to bring 1 ISD back which is obviously going to be the Chimera. We saw no sign of a massive fleet & if there were it'd take ages for them to go back & forth ferrying single ships across the galactic void. It doesn't need to be at a planetary scale to be a super important fight.
I think it would be cool if the Katana fleet was made up of all the old Republic Era Venators and the like. You get the pop of the eu fans while also making it more accessible
I like the canon's Thrawn better than the legends', I like him better as a likeable, nice guy. The Chiss trilogy and the book Thrawn are my favourite books of him. However we're getting the villain version in this show, at least that's how it seems for now.
Honestly episode 6 really got me excited for the rest of the series, loved episode 5 but episode 6 really knocked it out of the park for me. Also loved the kintsuge for the night troopers
Baylan and his apprentice remind me of master Cboath and Jedi Jinzler from the outbound flight series, which I also believe Palpatine later cloned and had him try and corrupt Luke. They were also the first two republic peeps to run into Thrawn who Palpatine used to destroy outbound flight
Thrawn is stripped of all possibilities of rational success. He has to resort to witch craft- so he is a very different version of himself. He accepts defeat, yet unnatural entities allowed another way, so this other way can’t be measured or predicted. SO he has to run in blind beyond rational measures, therefore he can’t measure or predict anything with the usual skill and precision and this is where the drama lies. This is why the show runners used this moment to convey AhSoka.
Only problem with bringing back a fleet is that there is only one giant hyperspace ring. He is coming back with only the Eye carrying the Chimaera. An interesting thought though. The NR is building an awful lot of those new cruisers. Could Feloni have the same idea of a Katana Fleet but with a different class of ship?
I just hope they don’t kill off Thrawn too soon and they show us how brilliant he is and plays everyone (even us).

Nobody, not a single RUclips channel can agree on what anakin was trying to teach.. live or die?? Well that’s pretty obvious but here’s one: some people saying ahsoka was afraid to turn out like anakin… who writes this???
You could write a Thesis paper with the amount of theories this man has churned out in a week.
almost like he should be named like theory or something.
@@summersoldier1003Star Wars Theory would be the perfect RUclips name for him, I hope he picks that
@@DarkHorseDannynahh that's too far fetched
@@emb_maul9632 Yeah I can't see it.
Hero Thrawn who’s loyal to the Chiss from the new books > old gets stabbed by a body guard Thrawn
Not me seeing the thumbnail and thinking how cool a Battlestar Galactica star wars crossover would be
I think this would be great to incorporate into new Disney cannon and it would actually make Thrawn an upgraded threat than he was previously. Along with this, he’d ensure it’s utmost security and that any vulnerabilities are kept in check. Do it Dave!!
Man I would LOVE to see the Katana Fleet in live action! If they bring that to fruition, Ahsoka will be a goated series for sure
Dude, this is easily one of your best lore videos! I love it!
Original (90's) Thrawn was so scary as an antagonist. Not physically intimidating, but always 3-5 steps ahead of our heroes.
Well, I can certainly tell you one thing Disney won’t keep from legends. And that’s they will NOT refer to it as “slave” 😂😂😂😂
the most beautiful thing about this system is- when the front ship shoots, the back ships shoot into the front ships 👍🏼
The way that they talk about Thrawn starting a war (in Ahsoka), it's almost like they already figure he has the fleet...
I clicked on this thinking it was an Eckhart’s Ladder video, and then I was confused as to why he sounded like SW Theory.
I think it’d be interesting if given how many imperial loyalists are the New Republic a large portion of the NR military defects to Thrawn’s side. I think it would give an interesting reason for the NR choosing to demilitarize so heavily by the time of the sequels as they couldn’t even trust their own military.
I think it would be interesting if they changed it from the Katana fleet to a lost Separatist fleet. Maybe Kalani the Tactical droid?
The idea of Thrawn already having a big fleet would feel very Episode 9-ish...
So, instead of that how about this:
Once Thrawn arrives in the home galaxy he should immediately go on a quest to find the Katana Fleet.
So basically exactly what happens in episode IX with the Final Order fleet on Exegol
Theory: "I dOn'T dO cLiCkBaIt TiTlEs"
Also Theory:
I think there will be a reference to it as Zahn did help write for ahsoka... but on the other hand the fact his ship is in the condition it is in leads me to think he hasnt found it... or maybe he does know its location and is waiting for elsbeth to show up with the ring and they will jump there...but as you said maybe they are waiting in the system that peredia is... or side thought...maybe the reason why he star destroyer is the likely last of the 7th fleet is because he came in contact with the katana fleet and it decimated them
You're writing just keeps getting better
@@mav8535 oh I agree I don’t think it’s plausible that they are going to show up in Ahsoka, but they’re simply to have rumored to have still been in the Star Wars galaxy was all I was saying
I like the tone and transitions in this vid, felt unique compared to the recent videos. Awesome job theory, also that would be epic seeing Thrawn with a huge fleet that size
🔥👌
I am in my opinion sure that it is. It’s not a coincidence to me💯👍🏾
Mmm. Fillet. Very tasty.
Theoretically, they could do other things with how the fleet is found...I wouldn't be surprised if the Chiss knew of the ships and where they were but due to the virus (or something similar) at the time, they just left them where they lay...Thrawn deciding to use it since the virus might have run its course and burned out
Thrawn and the 7th Fleet were already a nightmare for the rebellion back then
Imagine how much more of a pain it'll be when he's in command of the KItana Fleet
Theory I love you and your content, and you’ve always been my favorite Star Wars content creator, but can we please relax with the clickbait titles? It makes you look more like the kind of person that some people think you are
Like me, he doesn’t give a shit what people 💭 think, that why he’s cool 😎
@@zcorpalpha2462 Don't get me wrong, I'm a big supporter of Theory, but this title just feels really crappy and a lot of the other recent ones haven't been much better
I think Filoni might just use that and adapt it in a way to explain how Palpatine ended up with the massive fleet at the end of The Rise Of Skywalker
The hyperspace ring is for thrawns ship
Last episode you saw the state of the thrusters on the back...half of them aren't functioning so he can't jump back without it
Zahn didn't change Thrawn for the canon books. He is very similar to his depiction in the Legends Outbound Flight book. I will be disappointed if Filoni ignores this character development.
Whatever giant fleet Thrawn may bring, it'll be taken down with the most ridiculous method possible. Whatever the method may be.
bro we all know that ahsoka wil become a goddess and destroy em all we know that filoni's leash is being held by kathleen...
Thrawn was never really a "bad guy" in the tradtional sense, he was always more of an anti hero.
I so hope he comes back with a giant fleet
I just read the comic adaptations of thrawns story and thought the katana fleet was so cool. If we see it in the show that would be unreal!
I think Filoni has learned from the last few years of Star Trek not to go around networking ships
Ohhhh, I am SO GLAD I listened to the audiobooks last year!
Awesome Video!!! I'M SOOOOOO EXCITED FOR THE NEXT EPIOSDE!!!!!!
Therapist: Thrawn Musk can’t hurt you ❤😅
😂😂💀
Not sure what they plan to do or if there is a Katana Fleet out there...what is 100% for sure is they can't end this story arc in 2 episodes. Season 2 + the Filoniverse movie is the bare minimum needed to complete a well played story imo.
Glad to see Lord of the Rings and Star Wars unity in some kind of way. Gandalf + Ahsoka
Live long and forceful. _\\//
@8:24 WTF are those guys?? they do be groovin tho
The problem is the Katana fleet would feel like a redo of Palpatine's hidden fleet in Rise of Palpatine. Otherwise i agree with you.
@@LukiKrukiWhen Lucas talked about the series rhyming like poetry that is not what he meant at all. This is just redoing storylines.
Nothing's going to happen until the writer strike comes to an end.
I think the hyperspace ring is from the Chimera. I am sure the Imperial remnant is gathering ships for Thrawn's return.
I have thought from the very beginning that Baylan and his apprentice were copies of Bane and his apprentice . Tweaked but i definitely got that vibe
Interesting tho I just finished rewatching the Geonosis arc from tcw season 2 the other day.
It does seem like Thrawn is more ruthless now
I think it would be cool if the Katana fleet was made up of all the old Republic Era Venators and the like.
I believe Captain Enoch is actually part of the Royal Guard.
I thought the same thing about Baylon…that he was Bane and that she was Zannah
I think that Thrawn and his soldiers will never leave the galaxy they are in now.
He didn't comeback with a fleet, but undead army of hundreds
It would be a crazy ANIME style of intro,
Pulling up to the galaxy with this colossal army that just destroys even the WILL to fight back.
I think it’s pretty obvious the hyperspace ring will attach to Thrawn’s ship
Only problem with bringing back a fleet is that there is only one giant hyperspace ring. He is coming back with only the Eye carrying the Chimaera. An interesting thought though. The NR is building an awful lot of those new cruisers. Could Feloni have the same idea of a Katana Fleet but with a different class of ship?
