Very nice Darjeeling B Class loco indeed, a great railway too with a pretty decent long run. The driver made things look effortless running around the train at the end loops. Loved the kids noise getting excited about a steam locomotive and train. More future volunteers and enthusiasts!
The railway has not changed a lot Kay,but you can see they have been spending a lot of money on it.New plastic sleepers, rails and they are now renewing the fishplate nuts and bolts..........Best wishes Chris
Hi Steve, An early start this year, steam lovely weather we just had to get out with the new camera and make a start on the railway riding season.......Best wishes Chris
Thanks for posting the video Chris when we visted the NVR i did not know this was even there !! well filmed by both of you Rosie very lucky to have a ride on that lovely loco too , Best wishes Graham
Thank you Graham, this seems to be the norm, nobody has heard of the railway.before but it has been here for a long time......Sadly I must have deleted my other video of our last visit a few years back....I was testing out my new (then) Canon XHA1s ,that's a camera, everybody thinks your from a tv company, they allow you everywhere....LOL......Best wishes Chris
Thanks for posting this Chris. We were going to go to the NVR the other week (half term) but it wasn't running on the Tuesday which was our planned day out. I'd printed off all the leaflets about Ferry Meadows and the other areas so we could have a walk and hadn't realised this railway existed. We'll be sure to go on it when we do go to the NVR later in the year.
Thanks for your excellent joint video Chris and Rosie! Even though I visited the Nene Valley Railway in Peterborough with a mainline charter train several years ago...I had no idea this 15in gauge railway was also there! A quick bit of research on the Internet shows that it’s a very popular ride but they do warn intending passengers that heavy rain and winds can lead to trains being cancelled. I really envied Rosie’s cab ride and you can be sure that next time I’m in Peterborough I’ll be visiting this railway. Best wishes, Rob.
That is great news Rob you will enjoy the ride, the steam loco runs mainly on Sundays but you should check...You know Rosie she just loves steam trains....You can visit the NVR by train to Peterborough then it's only a short walk from the mainline station to the NVR station, you then catch the train to Overton,Ferry Meadows park is about 1/4 mile away...........Best wishes Chris
What a wonderful set up there Chris, I didn't realise this was there when we visited the NVR last year, and look at the smile on Rosie's face on the footplate.
That is a shame Bob you missed a good one.If your visiting an area just give me a shout and I can tell you if there are any railways around that area,I have them all listed. She took me by surprise when she went by on the cab,you just cannot stop her getting a cab ride, she loves it..........Best wishes Chris.
I was wondering if Rosie was going to find her way onto the footplate, then sure enough "can't keep her off." Looks like a nice line, what gauge is that? 10¼"? 12¼"?
LOL ..You know Rosie, she just loves steam engines,I was shocked to see her on the cab as she passed by.......Yes as Hawks says it is 15 inch gauge.......Regards Chris
Hi Mark....Not a visiting loco, this loco was built at Peterborough for this railway...It is a 15 inch gauge model of a Darjeeling Himalayan Railways B class..as D H R..........Cheers Chris
