Patients who have either trait or disease and have been misdiagnosed is due to the lack of testing or use of the cheaper test in which sickled cells are counted from a sample.
There is an addiction rate of less than 3% in Sickle Cell patient community. Start there. As for the management of sickle cell the patient will tell you what they need and their charts tend to back them up (most mds dont even bother to look, they just judge). For this woman to speak on SUD when discussing one in the ER is upsetting.
Ive been on IV Benadryl w/my iv pain meds for 25yrs w/no side effects and im not addicted. Majority of patients who have this combination arent addicts and they dont have extreme side effects. Its ridiculous how MDs are withholding care that has worked for years/decades for patients.
Big Fan from Kenya. Keep up the good work!
Thank you James! We love producing the show. -Matt

There is no excuse for putting a patients saftey in the hands of a machine. A PCA cannot see or speak to a patient before giving them pain meds.
