    I really love how you make things sound so simple, even when it's a lot of information you give us. Because just as you said, there was SO MUCH to learn in the beginning, and people behaved like only true experts can have shrimps and no one have ever been new to the hobby.
    Well. I watched some of your videos, understood that it probably would turn out well if I got shrimps and I found a woman willing to give me a group of red neocaridina. I did with them as I've learnt to do with fish. I put the bag in my aquarium, after a little while I had some of the aquarium-water into the bags with the shrimps. I waited, then took some more water to the shrimps... After maybe 2-3 hours I let the shrimp-bag open so that they could swim and discover their new home. And yes, they all survived. They have even got better colors now and seem to be very happy. It wasn't that complicated.

    Being new to the hobby I totally agree. It stresses us out all the complicated techniques people say that is the only way to do things. I’m doing it all simple and it is working so far. The only thing I think is really important is to be patient and not to add loads of stuff to the tank at once. Add something new every week and watch your tank develop

    I think everyone needs to find what works for them. Drip acclimating seems to work for me, so long as I don't do it for an extended period of time. For me, 45min to an hour seems to work. I do that because I don't really know what the parameters are from which they came, so, I do like to ease them into it. If I go from one of my tanks to another of my tanks, I just toss them in and away they go. Thanks to you my friend, I have learned a lot and you have specifically helped me in the past with a few questions I have had, so to you I say thanks! I appreciate what you do and what you pass along through your videos.

    So I agree that it’s doesn’t matter which way you introduce them to the tank, they can die possibly from other reasons.

    If I get shrimp from a source where I don't know their exact water parameters, I do drip acclimate for about an hour but I am aware one of the reasons I do that is I like to look at the shrimp on their own for a while before they go in the tank. It is my chance to cull any that I don't want to put in (a supposed black rose that is too red or too blue for example).
    I move shrimp between my tanks often and they are plop and drop every time.

      I did the same thing with mine. I'm sure it helped a lot that the local store I bought them from are on the same water system. I didn't test but wouldn't be surprised if the parameters were in the same neighborhood. Worked out great. Shrimp are breeding and active.

Spider wood..which I might attach the weepin moss cuttings... Sponge filter(the water fall one) .. Pleco caves which are clay based (which I beleive wud help me keep the temp down) Foxtail to cover the top portion... What's ur take on this setup.. Oh btw, shoutout from South India... 🙏

    • @FishKeepingAnswers
      @FishKeepingAnswers  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi. So lava chips will lower ammonia, but only because they provide lots of places for beneficial bacteria to live. The same is true of regular gravel. The lava chips themselves do nothing to the water chemistry. They are inert.
      I use various different substrates including gravel, sand and Fluval Stratum. Truth be told, the shrimp could not give a monkeys! It makes absolutely no difference to them 👍🏻👍🏻

    • @arunsasidharan1986
      @arunsasidharan1986 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@FishKeepingAnswers So basically they don't care regarding substrate they are in ... Considering the fact that lava chips have many small pores for beneficial bacteria to thrive, I might just go with it... Thnx again for the reply..

      Depending of course where in the world you live, it is unlikely the lead weights were actually made of lead. Even if they were, it’s unlikely they would kill your fish or shrimp. Back in the good old days, when lead weights WERE made of lead, they never caused any issues.

      @@FishKeepingAnswers I look forward to seeing you emails. This was my second attempt at starting a shrimp tank. To increase my odds I started two, a 10 and 5 gal.
      I did a dry start on my carpet plants, with dragons stone piled up. Filled the tanks added starter water from my 45gal community tank. Transported stem plants and tel that sit for three weeks. Numbers were all good. Nice bio mass build up, so one again I added the shrimp this time using the drip method. I think the last one died yesterday from inability to molt.
      The only thing I can't control is my TDS around 500, however my GH and KH both are in line. They started molting three or so days after being added and the last one made it over a week.

    I'm probably a villain as well, but I have been keeping fish and to a lesser extent shrimp for many years and I've never once drip acclimated any of them. I would guess that I've had near to 100% survival rate.
    That's just me, do it any way you want, but as for forums, I've seen posts saying that putting a pair of aquarium tweezers in the water will poison the water.
    The point? Some people tend to over complicate things, you just need a little care and common sense for, it's great if you have a degree in science, but you don't need one to have a successful aquarium.

    I think a lot of it is padding for time. Most how-to videos make things overly complicated with lots of extra steps and special ingredients or items to make their video look more "pro" and stretch a 5 minute video into a 20 minute video. Then every sees these videos and thinks they have to do it that way because the pros do it that way.
