You make a lot of good points . That remind me of the issues I encountered when I first began taking lessons back in September of 2002 . After being in so many Extreme Heavy Metal bands and old school Hardcore bands . I'm able to use the eases in a clean voice . Have chest tone , falsetto and mixed voice . Stretched from a a natural high bass , midrange , upper midrange , to high end shrieking . The problem being is if I switch to a clean style of singing I can't seem to transfer the same notation . Usually always sound a bit sharp . I have recorded many different all vocal covers on my channel of my voice . People get the impressions that I'm constrictingy my voice . Because it's done on a smart phone through the speaker recorder . I'm extremely loud but folks mistake compression for constriction . I have very loud call register when it comes to shouting . In that chest tone call register I can belt out an A over middle c. However becoming a good melodic singer has always eluded me . No matter what . I don't understand how I can use extreme vocal distortion and hit the right notes but cants transfer that to a Scorpions or David Coverdale style of singing . People always tell me to keep doing the extreme Heavy Metal style and forget the melodic singing because " I'm horrible " . I won't give up but after a year I still sound like day 1 . The funny thing is I've been using the same vocal eases you're using right here for 19 years 😂 . I know there's a way I can hack the Def Leppard Scorpions style of singing just may take a lot more time .
Thank you so much Ken! This is voice saving information... Please I have a question... Until what note is good for a girl to stretch her belting register? What is the safe or healthy top note a woman should do with a belting register?

Thank you for all you give free here. Told as a kid to shut up because my voice was awful. Now at 66 trying to finally get out of that belief. NOW...Need to know where did you get that T-shirt?
Honestly, wow...thank you. I found your channel a few days ago and i'm binging your videos and actually putting all your advice and exercises into practice. I have just started so obviously I can't yet tell you if 've improved but i sure will keep you posted! I've taken signing classes for three years when i was younger (around 13-16) but i quit because of a series of factors. As a child exposed to pop music with mainly sopranos I felt uncomfortable being a contralto with a full, powerful chest voice. Stupidly, at 13 i despised my voice and longed for a softer, higher one. I would mainly sing songs sung by males or had to lower all the other ones and as a kid that felt humiliating. Other than that I struggled a lot with my breath control and kept straining here and there and had no idea how to relax and just let my voice flow. My sining teacher once said "you sing as if you were doing sit ups", he meant well but that stuck with me and after a while i chose to quit. Im 20 now and i'm an actress, which I found to be my ultimate passion after dropping singing. However, the breath problem clearly resurfaced in my acting and I am now forced to tackle it all over again. Also, I came back to singing in the meantime as I play piano and write songs but although i came to appreciate (on good days) my deep, powerful voice, i'm still insecure and frustrated that I seem to not know how to relax. I feel like i'm really truly cutting myself short and stifling my potential (also literally as i run out of breath haha) reason why i've come back to singing. Finding your channel has been an epiphany. Sorry for rambling, just wanted to share with you my singing journey and issues and let you know that i'm truly grateful for your efforts. I will persevere!

Ken idk why after watching your video yesterday why I thought this but I thought that this video was going to teach me how to sing to pick up a lady lol. After going through divorce I needed something like that lol. Even though I made the wrong assumption about the video you're still the greatest. We all appreciate the knowledge that you share with us. God bless you brother.
"Pharyngeal Voice" is just smoke and mirrors talk. You have a laryngeo pharynx, a nasopharynx, and an oropharynx. Most coaches who teach "singing pharyngeally" are suggesting that you sing very nasally. NAY, NAY, NAY, Make it sound as ugly as you can. Yes, that's it. The uglier it sounds, the better you are singing pharyngeally. I don't teach that nonsense. I teach open throat, and sometimes singing into "the mask" but mostly resonating in the back of the throat. You do need to vary the tone to reduce the girth of the sound as you ascend to higher notes. It's all in my course. KenTamplinVocalAcademy.com/
@@kentamplin I bought your singing course and im doing great. Actually I am recording my own songs and I wish you could hear it. The thing is in spanish. Anyway, the reason for my question is that I got a course long ago that emphasizes pharyngeal as a way to grow the voice. But, your explanation makes a lot of sense. Thank you for the tip.
Ken, I've just recently found your channel and love it. I have a question for you. I'm (now) 65 and have been playing the guitar and singing since 1974 when I bought a CSNY chord book and learned. I sing a lot of John Prine, Bonnie Rait, Linda Ronstadt,...stuff like that. I've lost a lot of my range. Is that just normal as we age (For instance I see Stevie Nicks has lost a lot of her range...still love her), or can we do anything to keep or at least help our range as we age?
Gosh no...I just sing with friends in my living room...lol I guess maybe I was hoping you already had a video on range as we age. I will check out your link though. Thank you, Ken. I've been enjoying your videos! 💕
First of all, thank you Ken for responding to my comment. I just signed up for you emails and watched a couple of the videos on your website. I thought your analogy about Bob Dylan was so right on. Anyone CAN sing. I've always believed a persons heart and soul makes the difference. Thank you...my name is Cathi
Mr. Tamplin please tell me honestly is it possible to achieve some success in signing if I started to learn to sing at the age of 35. Must be said I used to study to play the piano for 6 years and still can play it. I was also told that I have some sort of talent but I wanna be real if there is a chance. music is a big part of my life, I keep listening and listening to all types of music and one moment I realized that I also wanna make something beautiful with my voice not just listening to other singers. my goal is to be able to sing well so in the future I can try to write my own songs, and I wanna learn different styles. Hope you will respond 🙏
Unusual to see people using a Jesus T-shirt, hehe. Somehow that rings me a bell.....anyway great tips! I don´t sing but would like to improve just to sing at home, for myself, lol. Cheers and thanks again for the channell!!
Hi Ken. I have noticed I have a really weird problem I am a mezzo-soprano and when I try to hit the high part of my range at about a E5 to F5 I sing polyphonically a E6. Can you do a training on how to control when you use poly phonics?

Happy to hear that, Asia! Keep at it!

I change to head voice on the first note... with the lip drill but the can do the entire last one in total chest voice didn't even switch.

Helloo Big fan here from the Philippines. 👋👋.
Hello 😊 kentamplinvocalacademy.com/
Ken, how important it is to develop the pharyngeal voice? I have heard that it is crucial to do the mix voice like gears in a car.
You do not need to lose range. Have you taken a look at my course? It can help! kentamplinvocalacademy.com/
Gosh no...I just sing with friends in my living room...lol
I guess maybe I was hoping you already had a video on range as we age.

Absolutely!Go for it. It is never too late to start!
@@kentamplin Thanks for encouraging me!!🙏 Thanks for your amazing content!!!❤️🔥
Wow i never realized how difficult that can be!
The lip practice is difficult and I find it hard to be consistent when doing it suddenly both lips bring out ear instead of vibration
Keep at it!
Unusual to see people using a Jesus T-shirt, hehe. Somehow that rings me a bell.....anyway great tips! I don´t sing but would like to improve just to sing at home, for myself, lol. Cheers and thanks again for the channell!!
Thanks for the visit, rock on!
Where did you get that shirt !!???
I can't remember
Analysis of vocal Diana's Ankudinova (Дианы Анкудиновой) has not yet been on yours channel?
Not yet.
Hi Ken. I have noticed I have a really weird problem I am a mezzo-soprano and when I try to hit the high part of my range at about a E5 to F5 I sing polyphonically a E6. Can you do a training on how to control when you use poly phonics?
I think this is also called overtone
