She was a very rare movie star. She interacted with all of the crew members no matter what they did. She called all of them by their first names and asked about their families and treated all of them as equals. a very rare star.
What a face! What a voice! Luminous! She was the best because she was the most versatile. Drama or comedy, westerns or musicals...God Bless Her. A true class act!
IMO she deserved at least 3 Oscars, Stella Dallas (1937), Ball of Fire/The Lady Eve (1941) and Double Indemnity (1944), she was nominated each time. She was nominated for Ball of Fire (1941) which came out the same year as The Lady Eve, Stanwyck was fantastic in both films, but looking back,The Lady Eve (1941) was superior, it's ahead of its time , Stanwyck was truly marvelous she carried the film by herself.
This is about Barbra Streisand. The movies you’ve mentioned are regarding the incomparable Barbara Standwyk Both women were pioneers in their fields of film and Streisand for her incredible vocalist career, hands down 1 of the most incredible voices of all time, 1 of the original Divas ❤. Just watched Streisand in her version of “A Star Born”. !!! My fav version of A Star Is Born is with Judy Garland but Barbra’s version is sublime and rightfully so based on modern times in the 70s which she wanted. I only provided this info for each their sakes, for Barbra Streisand and Barbara Stanwyck, whose careers are outstanding individually!!!!!!!!
@@foryourviewingpleasure966 Thanks for posting the entire segment actually showing the film clips from the original broadcast. The Oscar Channel is so infuriating as they always cut out that part -- which basically shows WHY so-and-so was honored.
Thank you so much for posting the full Honorary presentation, i.e, including the showreel and instead of jumping straight to the recipient's speech. Stanwyck was one of the best and she got one of the Acad's best Honorary Awards. Moving the Honorary Awards to the Governor's Ball and depriving the Main show of new moments like this (e.g., Sam L. Jackson's recent Honor) is a tragic, unforced error by the Academy.
You're very welcome !! And it's a transfer from a 40 year old videotape that was taped off of a TV with regular old rabbit ears. Haha. No cable or satellite. Those old videotapes hold up very well, if stored properly.
Missy’s prodigious talent was surpassed only by her grace and her generosity of spirit. Ever humble, even when she was being recognized for an uncompromising career of great performances, and memorable moments, she continued to recognize those that do not often enough get appreciated for their contributions. She was pure class. They just don’t make them like Barbara Stanwyck anymore.
STANWYCK would have been a STAR...movie or not. She exemplifies what a REAL WOMAN IS, and should be. Thank you, MS STANWYCK for being an excellent role model.
I just don't understand how she never got an oscar before this she was brilliant but I am glad she did get one one of the best who ever did it to good to ever be forgotten rip ❤❤❤❤❤ 8:328:32
Because she had poise, passion, confidence and clear definite BOUNDARIES! A nice way of saying she would never compromise her own values or personnel integrity for ANYONE’s favor! PERIOD!
One thing against her was that she never signed a long time exclusive contract with any one of the movie studios. It benefited her financially but hurt her chance in winning a competitive Oscar because there was no studio campaigning for her during the award season. Same thing happened to Cary Grant and Irene Dunne
Barbara Stanwyck should have been honored with 100 Oscars! She was the BEST ACTRESS!! Amazing movies! Outstanding acting talent; a role model for ALL in the acting field. Thank you Barbara for your wonderful movies! Rest in Peace my Irish SIS! Love and blessings
There is not enough awards for barbra stanwick she was brilliant i use to be on the edge of my seat when i watch her she born to make us feel i her she was robbed once i wish i had been there i would of punch there lights out don't mess with are barbra for people who loved her rip ❤❤❤ 8:328:32
When I was a child I didn't know she was a famous movie star. To me she was that tough old lady on The Big Valley. As I grew up and started loving the old movies, I still never saw any of hers. Then, a few years ago I saw her in The Lady Eve and was hooked. Now I've seen almost all of her films and she's my favorite actor from the Classic era.
Stanwyck was an independent actress who wouldn’t play ball with the studio system, which in turn didn’t promote her as much as she otherwise would have been. As a result, the academy overlooked her incredible talent all of those years. Also notice that she _never_ once complained
I originally felt the same way. But it turns out that he spent a great deal of time with her. Asking her advice. He would skip the Hollywood crowd and spend time with her instead. They were good friends
Es «uno de los mitos del Séptimo Arte» y una de las mujeres fatales más emblemáticas de la historia de Hollywood. Increíble que no haya ganado un Óscar, un reconocimiento más que merecido 👏👏👏🙌💯🔝
A beautiful movie and completely unappreciated today except in a few film fans' corners. I wish more people took the time to watch it. It is a perennial Christmas movie for me.
She should won many many times the academy doesn't always get it right they were out of there minds not to acknowledge her before this finally sorry wrong number she didn't even have to get out the bed she gave a performance of a life time the brilliant barbra rip .❤❤❤❤❤ 6:386:40
I disagree. She was well known to be kind to everyone. All of the backstage crew etc. She even knew their wives and children's names. She was not a snob. In my opinion, she wouldn't have thought that way. She was a sweet lady, not a snob. Besides, she and John were known to be friends. ❤
Anyone who changes their birth name for ANY reason, is extremely disrespectful of their parents & their heritage. This is especially true, if the change is made at the behest of anyone else and for anticipated greater recognition & monetary gain.
She was a very rare movie star. She interacted with all of the crew members no matter what they did. She called all of them by their first names and asked about their families and treated all of them as equals. a very rare star.
Finest female actress of all time. She could play anyone. Her versatility was legendary.
She was truly the greatest actress of all time I mean just look at her. No one does it like her anymore
A truly great actress, and more versatile than most of her contemporaries
So down to earth and appreciative of others in her career. Classy person .💕
Love her❤
I have Always had a great appreciation for and love for
Barbara Stanwyck. Classy actress and Classy lady through and through.❤
The Greatest Actress Eve ! ❤
She looks so good and dignified.
She was one of the actresses of all time. Classic lady
Humility, ladylikeness, ultimate professionalism and a dynamo of acting talent!! If anyone ever deserved an Oscar it was Barbara Stanwyck!!
I remember Al Pacino said he wrote her a fan letter & she wrote him back.
She had the range...literally she can pulled off anything
One class act...Ruby Stevens, a.k.a. Barbara Stanwyck (1907-1990). Thanks for presenting.
That same year she starred in The Thorn Birds. Fabulous
Absolute fucking legend! My favorite actress of all time.
What a face! What a voice! Luminous! She was the best because she was the most versatile. Drama or comedy, westerns or musicals...God Bless Her. A true class act!
I couldn't have said it better !!!
A film legend. She deserved Oscars for Double Indemnity and for Sorry, Wrong Number.
They sure don't make 'em like that anymore !! A truly great actress !!

So well deserved! Hollywood didn't overlook this icon after all!
Stella Dallas

It's just inconceivable to me that Barbara Stanwyck never won an Oscar for any of her roles.
The best actor of all time!
The greatest of the great Actress of all time Period!!!!!
Agreed. She is my pick as the best ever, too.
Oh how I agree
She was the greatest of all time.
Yes.......A great actress with a very natural and way ahead of her time style. One of my mother's and my personal favorites.

That is a TRUE LADY.
Exceptional actress; one of the best in motion picture history. She is gave one classy acceptance speech. She lives on in her films.

one of the all time greats. the stories of her kind acts towards others outside of hollywood are of legend
Double Indemnity. One of the greatest film noirs. And she was magnificent in that. Another one of the truly greats who never won.

Her looks improved with age.

How’s it possible she never one a single Oscar after her many movie performances long ago?Totally unbelievable.

One of a kind! 😢
My Reputation will always be my favorite!!!
Yes.....that is a very good one. I love the ending !! And I think I remember reading that it was one of her personal favorites also.
It’s very good. I feel so many people could relate to that one
She deserved someone better to present her Oscar instead of John Travolta.
Yes it should have been a colleague from her years of career such as Fred MacMurray or Linda Evans. Odd choice and I am sure she thought so as well.
@@kindspirit7 Travolta was the flavor of the month in Hollywood at the time...
I originally felt the same way. But it turns out that he spent a great deal of time with her. Asking her advice. He would skip the Hollywood crowd and spend time with her instead. They were good friends
Agreed
She was good at her craft
Back before old ladies had flat blonde hair extensions, botox duck lips and spray tan.
The more I see, the more I believe she was the best ever.
King !
My.mom loved her and so do i. Great actress. They do not have such magnificent actresses today mlike her. Meryl Streep is great
Elegant

Qué emoción con el clip de Stella Dallas. Increíble que no la premiaran por esa película.
Watch Stanwyck & Gary Cooper in MEET JOHN DOE(1941). Frank Capra's film on rising fascism in US. It's free on RUclips.
A beautiful movie and completely unappreciated today except in a few film fans' corners. I wish more people took the time to watch it. It is a perennial Christmas movie for me.

Before there was Meryl Streep...
I'd take her over Meryl Streep any day. The only other actress I think who comes close is Katherine Hepburn.
Back when the Oscars and other awards meant something. Now it’s just all crap.
❤
Would like to know what year this was.
Hello......it was 1982.
John Travolta - she must have been revolted to have such a no talent present her the award.
That is what I was thinking.
I disagree. She was well known to be kind to everyone. All of the backstage crew etc. She even knew their wives and children's names. She was not a snob. In my opinion, she wouldn't have thought that way. She was a sweet lady, not a snob. Besides, she and John were known to be friends. ❤
