Just graduated 08NOV13 this videos pretty accurate bootcamp was easy just do what your told and make sure your in shape. And you'll have fun! Good luck future shipmates
GO NAVY! I served in the Navy from 1983-1987. Loved every minute of my service. I am proud that we still have a US Navy and I am happy to see young men and women still volunteering their service to our country. Is this the same boot camp I attended in 1983? No it is not, but times change and frankly I am glad to see that the Navy is keeping with the times and modernizing. I would gladly call any of these modern boot camp graduates "shipmate". Proud to have served and proud that my Navy is still here. GO NAVY!
As a parent whose son left for boot camp yesterday, I found this video not only informative, but it was also a source of comfort to me. I applaud you for making this video to educate anyone with a friend or relative who has a loved one going into the Navy. After watching it I can rest a little bit easier knowing my son is in good hands and on a new path of life enrichment. If I were younger, it would also make me consider enlisting. Thank you VERY much!
Proud to be a sailor here, myself. I went to bootcamp in the early 90's. My first command was in the aircraft carrier named USS Independence CV-62 (It's been decommissioned since 1998), it was homeported in Yokosuka, Japan at that time. I've been retired from the service since 2014. What l can tell you all is....HOOYAH ! GO NAVY ! Keep on sailing and serving your own country and your family and do better and keep doing great things for the whole wide world. Good luck and God bless to all those who dream to become part of the greatest Naval Forces in the whole wide world...God bless you all, future sailors !
Morning Mark! The page 13 is so that participants do not provide too much detail as to what the expected wickets are for recruits to pass for each simulated event. All production that comes from NSTC and RTC public affairs offices regarding battle stations is first screened through the BST21 staff to ensure we have not revealed anything that could impact a recruit's performance, then screened again by overarching command before posting. As word of mouth and general social media posting does not have this screening process, it is safer to instruct participants to not speak of the events rather than to try and split hairs on what they can and can't share, especially considering we graduate approximately 30,000 recruits yearly.
40 years ago this month (April 1982) I reported to NTC/RTC San Diego for boot camp. Absolutely awesome experience!! Nothing against Great Lakes, but being from Iowa, I was glad I could go to recruit training in San Diego.
I went to boot camp in Orlando back in 88. We didn't have the battle stations part back the, pretty cool addition. But we did have the tear jerking Lee Greenwood moment towards the end!
Finally a recent video I can watch about boot camp. I swore in last Thursday and will be shipping to boot camp on June 11. Hope people in this video will be there if not that ok too can't wait for boot camp I will be ready. So excited to become a future sailor.
My son Richard J. Boatright graduates this month august 30 2013 I'm heading out on Wednesday to see him can't wait its been 8 long weeks he seems to be very happy with is decision and I am very proud of him can't wait to hear all his stories proud navy Mom right here
When my motivation is down.... this is the video I go to... every time I watch it.. it reminds me that I WANT TO BE A SAILOR.... I WILL BE A SAILOR..... HOOYAH!!!!
April 1953, Reported toUSNTC Bainbridge, A lot has changed but a whole lot has stayed the same. Those Grinders got some kinda hot with the sun beating on them and our marching and PT
I am so excited for my grandson Alex Ritterbush. He is 18 and he will be leaving today to go Boot camp after he is swear in In Nashville TN. I am so proud of him and his decision to fight for our country. I have a lot of friends praying and wishing you luck and thank you for what your doing.
I was in RTC in 82. and NTC great lakes after Boot Camp. Did not re-enlist, but the training they provided has allowed me to grow and excel in my civilian life. The travel was great. I was stationed on the west coast, San Diego. Go Navy.
Navy bootcamp is easy, being in the Navy is the real freakin' shit, maybe you ain't gonna be seeing combat but i'm sure as hell you'll be seeing a lot of dangerous work and gears out there that could possibly kill or could take some of your limbs if not taken seriously but anyways being in the Navy is awesome! just be serious about it and enjoy every moment remember less than 2% of people around the U.S could do the shit that we do. Go Navy, smooth sailing
Great Stuff ... Everyone should be so fortunate to be given a challenge and opportunity like this. Look, Navy Boot Camp is all about trimming out the folks who can't or just won't rise to the basic challenge of teamwork, dedication and paying attention. The reward for this simple, straightforward but utterly crucial test of yourself is to be given the opportunity to be Great (no matter what rank or job or life you choose). Cherish the opportunity to be Great ... It does not come around often.
I've watched alot of Bootcamp video to get an idea of what my daughter will go thru, and this is the BEST I've seen thus far. Now I know what's coming up, small arms.... 4 wks to go
joined the navy a lil more than a year ago, stationed in hawaii deployed to italy, africa, spain, greece and now im in scotland. yea its worth it guys :P i was in the uss trition badass good memories too
RPSN Knuppel here. I have to say this is the most accurate video of bootcamp i've seen on RUclips. To all the future sailors out there: best of luck to all of you.
Depped In 20121221 have attended 4 meetings, and I have YET to see a single video like this. Thank you US Navy for having these videos available online.
Enlisting in Tuesday. My family was my encouragement mainly my dad and my husband is a future navy sailor. Here I go no turning back. Soon to be a future sailor!
Just graduated from Boot Camp a few months ago, now in Corpsman A-School! I can tell you first hand that boot camp does suck. If you have the right mindset and motivation you will make it no matter what and it is an awesome feeling.
Stumbled upon this video when I received notification the Graduation will be streamed live tomorrow. I enlisted (USNR) in 1963 while still in high school. One of my HS gym coaches turned out to be my Division Officer. Who knew? And the Asst. Principal was a Colonel in the Marine Corps. With their guidance and training, I was ready for Boot Camp. I was fortunate to be stationed on a great ship, right here in my home town. I just wish I had stayed in and done more. I wouldn't trade it for anything
Im watching this video with my brother as he will soon be a future Sailor as well...Ive been in the Marines for a couple yearsand have no problem with the Navy.. I just want to say...man you guys have it made easy after looking at this video.. :-D
John on wives computer. As a Coast Guard man I was sent to two Navy Schools in the 1960s. The Navy is a world class outfit and it is obvious that they give tremendous support to turning out good sailors from boot camp. One would do well to keep in mind that the recruit of today does not have the draft hanging over their heads. They joined for many good reasons and are truly volunteers in the best sense of the word. That says a lot for each and everyone of them. Much respect for them here.
My grandpa was 9 years as a Navy boot camp Sargent he was bad to the bone. 1939 to 1969. Everytime we got into with my grandpa we had 6 weeks boot camp, and we did not like his boot camp
Those new ship compartments look so nice and shiny. Something was missing that I couldn't put my finger on and then it hit me, no more A/B lockers! Oh well I guess it's better to have the bedpan racks. (Div 273 Summer of 1999)
Just had a DEP meeting today and they made us watch this, though I seen it 5 times before. I ship the end of this month with a new ship date so no exact date yet....
I went to Great Lakes in shape physically I had no issues. I run 10:00 a mile and half, but I struggled with swimming…before I left for boot camp my recruiter told me I shouldn’t bother about swimming and that they would teach me and I listen and I paid the price by staying there for 4 months instead of 2 months
Would love to tour RTC Great Lakes and see all the new buildings. They look quite nice. Bet they are A/Ced now. In ‘92, the barracks seemed to date just after WWII and had steam heat. Scheduled my boot camp in late, late August to avoid Chicago,s sweltering summers and brutal winters. But, would like to see the new boot camp and the battle station. We didn’t have that then.
As an Army veteran I kind of know what sailors are going through when they go through basic, but I watched this video because my wife is training. I'm very proud of her and no matter what branch you join, every member of the military deserves respect. Go Navy!
WOW! This video brought back a lot of memories...and showed how much has changed since I was there January-March 1995. Not only has the basic training uniform changed (I hated those ugly dungarees!), but the "promotions" have changed. During my time, you started off with blue sweats in Week 0/P-Days (you were called "Smurfs" during this time), then got your green belts (called "booger belts") in Week 1, then your white belts (called "sugar belts") in Week 7. You knew you were a sailor when they let you get rid of the belts altogether in Week 8. We also didn't have Battle Stations. We had a day where we competed against other divisions in basic seamanship, damage control, and other events. I'm not saying the newer recruits have it easier; I'm saying they have it different than the past recruits. Good luck to all of you future sailors! Lee Martinez 1995 Division 167/Ship 2
Chief O’Graddy was my Chief RDC in 2011. She left my “Ship” because the other Chief made her cry. I remember her because she said my nails were too long. Funny how you look back. 9 years later and I’m still in the Navy.
My name is Petty Officer Vasquez from Navy Recruiting Station Plainfield Nj. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. This is a great video and I wished they had something like this when I joined back in 2004.
Having been past boot this is actually a pretty accurate video. There is missing aspects but very real to what goes on. If anyone has some questions on what its like let me know
To George: I know there is something called a rollback where if you can't pass a certain part of the boot amp process then you are to fall behind schedule and retake that part until passed or dropped. After the recruit passes then they can still graduate just a little later then if they hadn't been rolled back. Just what I heard may not be entirely correct.
also called a setback where you are put to an earlier period in the rotation if you failed the swim or PFA requirements.....if you fail again you are separated from the USN
Wow , look at the new Boot Camp, I was in Great Lakes Naval Training Center in 1988, 25 years ago it was a lot different then. Cool camouflage uniforms and back packs alone with a Naval caps. 25 years ago it was bell bottom jeans, long sleeve blue shirt and a cover on your head. Along with your "Ricky" Note Book which had your general orders, in your back pocket
I graduated in October of 2011. My division was 354, brother div 353. STG2 Walton, STG1 Jesse, and ADC Britton were my RDCs... I see Chief is still there (as of this video). Feels like just yesterday I was being yelled at, when it was actually two years ago.
Boot camp, is the easiest thing you will go thru during your time in the navy, it may seem hard during your eight weeks but looking back bootcamp and A-school are a breeze.
+Destiny Speaks Girlfriend no more! Once she gets to "A" school, you go to the back burner! Might as well get used to it and start planning your future without her!
Graduated RTC late January, met some of the coolest people. I quite enjoyed bootcamp if that sounds weird, yeah sure all the yelling and being treated like dirt, and the physical aspect, but bootcamp was a positive experience both mentally and physically. Met lifelong brothers and the coolest RDC ever. BM1 Garr! division076! 2013! Now Im stationed on a squadron. Life is good. As my chief use to say "Bootcamp is as hard as you make it".
At 18:25 I was taught to open the door standing to the left of it if possible, reason if there's a fire inside there can be super heated air and that door is going to fly open and throw you up agaisnt the bulkhead.
You'll be doing a lot of push-ups, running, marching, sit ups, jumping jacks, and everything in between. How long you'll be doing them depends on your RDC.
I went through it too; this videos is pretty accurate; I guess they did forget to point out how much they yell the first few days; but apart from that it's pretty accurate
I remember watching this video before I left in Summer 2013 and it was basically this, but with way more cursing and some minor hazing. One guy got removed from our division on the second day because he stenciled his underwear wrong. It's kinda surreal watching this video now 8 years later with a different perspective. But I definitely appreciated this back when I was still in DEP.
I went through this! This is so watered down!!! The real thing is nothing like this, Navy boot camp is hell!!! you can get through it, just do what you are told and shut up!!!!
Gives me chills looking back at boot camp but it was a lot easier than I expected! To the future sailors reading this, good luck! (:
Chills, so you went an Winter?
Think you could of used a little bit of pepper spray, but it does not help.
Just graduated 08NOV13 this videos pretty accurate bootcamp was easy just do what your told and make sure your in shape. And you'll have fun! Good luck future shipmates

I saw her come here. Amazed because of the violence against Nuclear Aircraft carriers.
I signed a page 13 not to talk about Battle Stations and here they are posting it on social media 😂
Morning Mark! The page 13 is so that participants do not provide too much detail as to what the expected wickets are for recruits to pass for each simulated event. This is actually really raw. It's not like the other videos. If you are leaving soon and you watch this beforehand, you made a good first step.
I've yelled at my children their whole life. They got 3 hots and a cot. They should be running the place in 4 weeks...I'm I'm so proud..sniff America!
When my motivation is down.... this is the video I go to... every time I watch it.. it reminds me that I WANT TO BE A SAILOR.... I WILL BE A SAILOR..... HOOYAH!!!!
Wow! Been 25 years since I went through boot camp. Looks like a lot has changed, but a lot has also stayed the same.
Hell yeah. Has to stay somewhat the same to weed the weak from the water hole... what is that called? A scuttlebutt.
April 1953, Reported toUSNTC Bainbridge, A lot has changed but a whole lot has stayed the same. Those Grinders got some kinda hot with the sun beating on them and our marching and PT
Arrived at RTC 05May2021 and graduated 16Jul2021. I’ll never forget night of arrival!

Of course, moving massive amounts of ammunition, provisions, and gear to sustain life onboard is a conquest.
It is not easy. Do not fool people.
My niece just joined the Navy. We are so proud of her! Her brother will be retiring from the Navy soon! We are very proud of him too.

Very moving and realistic. Thanks for sharing.
Went to Boot camp 09/08/2006, ship 11 division 383. Lots of great memories, lots of horrific memories. The Navy made me the man I am today!
RPSN Knuppel here. I have to say this is the most accurate video of bootcamp i've seen on RUclips. To all the future sailors out there: best of luck to all of you.
Leaving the same exact day bro. Good luck to you

Really helpful for me as the mom of a son getting ready to enlist. Thank you!
Great video! I look forward to sharing this with my son Future Sailor Wilson, 20131205, E-2 GSM....working on E-3
Just had a DEP meeting today and they made us watch this, though I seen it 5 times before. I ship the end of this month with a new ship date so no exact date yet....

good luck to you all i just graduated!

Same here except I leave the 6th. One day after you. I Might see you their bro. Good luck man.

Leaving for bootcamp tomorrow.
"I'm 58 years old can do a mile in less time then they require".
I graduated in October of 2011. My division was 354, brother div 353.
STG2 Walton, STG1 Jesse, and ADC Britton were my RDCs... I see Chief is still there (as of this video). Feels like just yesterday I was being yelled at, when it was actually two years ago.
Graduated about a month ago! Good luck everyone!!!
Boot camp, is the easiest thing you will go thru during your time in the navy, it may seem hard during your eight weeks but looking back bootcamp and A-school are a breeze.
Leaving in 3 days. Nervous as hell, but I'm ready.
20160223 ... so nervous . 8 weeks without internet will be the biggest challenge for me LOL.
My girlfriend shipped off the same day her name is Dew
+Destiny Speaks Girlfriend no more! Once she gets to "A" school, you go to the back burner! Might as well get used to it and start planning your future without her!
+Jason Turner 😂 we will see I'm not worried either way 😊
The lack of the curse words being thrown around in this video is also funny. I remember a much more colorful vocabulary thrown my way many a time.
This video made me even more excited to ship! (Didn't know that was possible!)
Road Guard you stand properly relieved!
Leaving 20140819
from Texas
Leaving for bootcamp tomorrow morning.
Recruit Division Commander is named *RESSLER.* Lower Thirds typo has her named as Michelle O' Grady.04:30
Danm. Woodworth is AZ1 in this video. On my bootcamp, she’s now AZCS and and also my ships’s leading Chief Petty Officer (Ship 03 USS Hopper)
Shipping 20161220, seems so far off I'm more anxious to get going rather than nervous about what'll happen.
Graduated RTC late January, met some of the coolest people. Recalling my days in both the Navy and the Army, and all I can say is...God bless the USA!
April 20th will mark my 2 years in the Navy. :)

***** I just graduated last month. It was hard but it really is a great experience.
Miss you RTC Orlando 1986
Gahh... the Navy office I talked to yesterday told me to watch this and I make my decision Monday..
At 18:25 I was taught to open the door standing to the left of it if possible, reason if there's a fire inside there can be super heated air and that door is going to fly open and throw you up agaisnt the bulkhead.
NTC/RTC San Diego Company 200 Oct 82 to Dec 82 then VS-41 and VS-33 two west pacs AZ2 1982 to 1988 and back in my day boot camp was 100% different ..
I remember after battlestations the only thing I couldn't stop thinking about was a PO telling me stop eyeing his mountain dew.
