NOTE: Avoid pine and cedar materials in your setups as these can make them sick! After further research, I found this out, so don’t make the same mistakes I did! Luckily, no roaches grew ill or died since I didn’t keep this setup for very long. I plan on making an updated enclosure build soon, so stay tuned!! @Bubblypetz1 I have question isn't pine wood considered toxic to the madagascar hissers? And how did ur hissers react to the wood 🪵 did they die or get sick? Because I'm getting a hissers and I've been reading about them for about a year. And can't find anything about oak wood or or maple wood, I know white oak isn't safe for them either. I know forsure cork bark is and fir wood aka mapani wood driftwood is I just need some advice because I want to keep my hissers happy and healthy since she will be a family pet not a feeder.
@@Ironclaw303 Thanks for watching! I didn’t know about pine wood being toxic to them! I’ll have to read more about it. I never saw that my hissers were nibbling on the wood, and they didn’t seem ill. No deaths either.

Babies of these Roaches can climb out, but i noticed, if kept bioactive, and fed well they are less likely to want to climb, and try to escape!

Maddies are arguably the easiest and most reasonable animal in the world to care for and they literally did everything that could put them in danger. If anyone is interested in keeping Madagascar hissing cockroaches as pets please do your research ignore this video and watch videos by more experienced keepers.
Thanks for watching! I normally keep my roaches in a large breeding setup with no substrate and only egg cartons. The roaches weren’t kept in this setup for very long as I ended up deconstructing it due to a lack of space. No roaches died or fell ill during that time. After further research, it seems that pine and cedar aren’t the safest for them, so I now know I shouldn’t have used that stick, pinecone, and dried pine needles for their setup. I plan on doing an updated setup soon with a larger enclosure and safer decor!
