    Yes, obviously wine is not healthy but resveratrol is very helpful for those that have major overeating issues.. resveratrol alone will not solve the issue but it's much healthier than most medications that the doctors push. of course rest, nutrition and exercise are very important.. and going periods of time without eating in between meals.. but many people have parasites that coerce them to keep eating junk.. things like lemon water, eating actual whole foods, avoiding sugar and processed oils are important but resveratrol is kind of like cheating for those that are having a lot of trouble losing excess fat... it's an absolute game changer.. tablespoon a day.. not thousands of cups of wine lol

    This is why I don't really trust longevity research. The various hypotheses within longevity research is usually based on observational studies of populations or animal models. The problem with observational studies, is that there are a myriad of factors to control for that it is hard to tease out the causal factor behind why a certain population live, on average, longer. The problem with animal models is that they seldom can be extrapolated onto human beings.

    • @nattyfatty6.0
      @nattyfatty6.0 23 дня назад +1

      The bigger issue is body size/dose scaling. People freak out about artificial sweeteners for literal decades now because of some mouse/rat studies where they give these things doses that, (m)g/kg, are basically impossible to achieve in a human size organism. Same thing going on with the resveratrol thing. Unrealistic doses and unrealistic scenarios. Most studies should be instantly dismissed on that basis alone but people are illiterate in general in the first place, and scientific literacy is a pipe dream even for a lot of researchers

    • @alphacause
      @alphacause 23 дня назад

      @@nattyfatty6.0 That is a good point, and it is one of the reasons why I am very skeptical of mice/rat studies, and their applicability to humans. In the realm of medication R & D, we do not automatically assume a drug is beneficial and safe purely on the basis of animal testing. We do trials on humans. The problem with claims of longevity researchers is that their claims cannot be verified until decades later, presuming that those who adhere to their recommendations consistently follow those recommendations and all other confounders are controlled for.

    • @KenOtwell
      @KenOtwell 23 дня назад

      Research and analysis is how we learn which models work and which don't. Most results are negative - that is good research, not bad.

    A 2020 Narrative Review in Foods had this to say: "Resveratrol is one of the most investigated bioactive compounds in foods. A number of epidemiologic studies have demonstrated that resveratrol is effective in the prevention of some diseases such as CVDs and cancer, although the results are sometimes inconsistent." In other words, as usual, Attia vastly overstates the present state of the science and leads people to conclude that all research stopped after a 2006 rodent study. Why is everything so bombastic?
