I saw Olivia Newton-John in concert about a year ago in Las Vegas and I was able to meet her afterward. I brought my lp of The Other Side Of The Mountain to have her autograph it for me. She said that she hadn't ever had anyone give this to her to sign before and she had even forgot she sung it until now. She was one heck of a classy woman and was so nice to everyone who came to see her.
That's a fabulous moment in time. I saw the movie in 1975, with my sister, in Anchorage, Alaska. Sweet memories in my mind. This song could have been released and charted, as it is so perfect for the time.
I love the movie Coma, too! Great one! My sister worked at Surfside Cinema 6 in Biloxi, Mississippi, when this movie came out, so I was always at the theater seeing the latest releases.
Before the song was recorded, the songwriters Charles Fox & Norman Gimbel played it for Jill Kinmont on whom the movie was based. She loved it and even wrote the liner notes on the album cover. Though Fox & Gimbel were putting out plenty of hit records at this time-- "Killing Me Softly", "I Got A Name", "Happy Days"-- this song was unfortunately never released as a single. The song was nominated for an Oscar losing to "I'm easy" from Nashville. And Charles Fox's brilliant score was nominated for a Golden Globe but lost to JAWS.
didn't know that Jill died. So sad.... I hope this song brought her some peace in her inspirational life... RIP Jill...and thank you Olivia for this beautiful, heartfelt song!
A beautiful song from a beautiful woman. I am so glad that Olivia has found a wonderful man and her health is good. This is my favorite movie of all time. God Bless you Olivia. From a proud Canadian. 🌈🦋🌹❤🙏🇨🇦🇨🇦
RIP. Thanks for touching so many lives with your beautiful talent and beautiful you. You were a class act and and an angel. Say hi to Karen Carpenter for us. I’d like to think that maybe she was there to greet you upon your return, along with our Father and our Savior.
Clouds strung like beads in a gray silent sky And I watch them and simplify my mind One thing is clear, I know I begin from here The passing time, it changes dreams and sweeps illusions from your eyes He came to me to be a friend And I knew somehow he couldn't stay That he was someone I would know a little while He brought a smile and he was free And he came to give it all to me A chance to see the way he sees So I could fly Through Richard's window to the sky I try to see all that he saw for me Looking through Richard's window to the sky
I am one that just played this song over and over to let me absorb Olivia into my soul. It wasn't until you Jon, that I actually felt the words as well. No wonder it s was nominated for best song 1975. It really isn't a sad song after all.
I AM CRYING LIKE A BABY..OLIVIA IS GONE BUT SHE WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART.R.I.P.OLIVIA YOU ARE THE BRIGTHEST STAR IN THE SKY AND WILL SHINE FOREVER. 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹
I was already a big ONJ fan with "The Other Side of the Mountain" came out. I had no idea that Olivia's song ended the film, but recognized her voice immediately. Loved it!
My favorite movie. I have watched it over 75X. That doesn't include when I saw it at the movies atleast 10X. Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦❤️🌹🙏🕊 RIP to a very classy and most beautiful and humble woman. She is singing in Heavens Choir with the other angels now.
absolutely love this song but so disappointed it is not available on mp3 format. I watched the movie on Netflix again yesterday and though it is terribly sad, it has a riveting emotional tug on ones soul for some strange reason. I, too, learned no more than a year ago of Jill Kinmont's death in 2012. I think of all the children's lives that were touched in her heroic effort to find a way to be useful in the midst of her overpowering disability. Her story will be remembered for years to come and the power and beauty of Olivia's voice will carry the memory of a love that once was.
The first CD ever of OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN will be released soon by Varese Sarabande, including Olivia Newton John's version of the oscar nominated "Richard's Window" (It lost to "I'm Easy" from Nashville)
This song holds special memories for me..she's gone through Richard's Window now..Godspeed on your new journey dear lady 🙏 .

Olivia spoke of wilderness years. I did not agree. And now I find so many more songs she did.
Great song! Olivia really did this song well! This was a great movie based on Jill Kinmont's life. It is ashame that she has passed away.
When 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 is fulfilled, I’m fairly certain that our dear Olivia will be in our Lord’s window to the sky. 🙏
Love this song. ❤
so perfect for the film- and she was superb with it
She's fantastic.

I have never listened this song.
Linda canção para um lindo filme: Uma Janela Para o Ceu
Terrible song. Could have been a moving tribute instead of cutesy-pooh fluff. Forgotten for a reason.
Jill's story touched me deeply; may she rest in peace; now able to run and feel no pain; Richard's window...beautiful song; beautiful voice.
Beautiful sentiment
