Hi Neal!! Thank you for this great update!!
We just returned from 2 weeks of camping in the Palm Springs area. LOVED IT!!! Just before heading there, my wife sends a link of a remodeled mobile home for 120k. It looked like a great option to stay when visiting. But...they had dog restrictions (all I know about was the size, and I am sure the breed was considered too). We have a German Shepherd, so we were not going to make the cut. So, I signed up on zillow and a realtor contacted us. This led to that...and before you know it, we were looking at 400k condos. We even threw a couple 800k houses in there; which there was 1 that we really liked. But, though I qualified for that much, we didn't like completely emptying our finances like that. The realtor also included a 500k condo right downtown Palm Springs, kind of by Aqua Caliente. We went for that one....and close next month. That thing is more expensive than my last 2 houses....but I really like the area.
Some anecdotal additions to what you said.....in that condo complex, it seems all of the condos there are selling the last week we were there and this week had offers made then. They are flying off the shelves!! Intrest rates are not good for that price point, so I look forward to refinancing one of these days
