    I appreciate that you showed these off!! I have looked them up on the web site, they are reasonable prices, but the shipping deterred me...SAD, I will wait til they come on Amazon US for that reason, hopefully not making a mistake....

    Ooooo i was wondering about these pencils !!! I did see them quite a bit on instagram but i havent watched any videos on them yet. I love the idea of muted colors to compliment larger sets, these shades remind me of the Graphitint pencils i love so much in terms of the shades. Im a little dissappointed that there arent any greens or earthy colors. It seems more of a cool tone set, i think for those that love purples and grays its a great set. Thanks for sharing the video K xoox

    I really love this set, I also got it a few days ago using the lovely Suzanne's code. These muted tones are stunning and will be really useful added to all our other sets (and how great to get a set that doesn't have millions of yellows in it 😅). What a great idea this is from Castle Arts.
    I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on them, and how cute is this pic you're colouring? I'll have to add this book to my list 💕

    They are lovely colors. I don't quite get the "harmonious" thing, to me "muted" would have been a bit more apt. Castle Art is just way too expensive for what they are.. budget pencils with no open stock, that think way too highly of themselves. I would bet money Brutfuner is going to come out with a set as well, if they haven't already, at a much lower price and better performance. That is how it was with the pastels and the metallics.

    • @ColouringwithK
      @ColouringwithK  28 дней назад +2

      That would be interesting, if Brutfuner come out with a similar range of pencils! I think Tooli art are similar in the sense that they are very overpriced but the colour range is so good, I think they end up getting away with it!

    I got these earlier in the week and I LOVE them. I’ve done the best colouring I’ve ever done with them. Having the lighter muted colours really helps make the blends to do shading which I’ve struggled with for ages and ages. My biggest annoyance is that it’s missing warmer browns/yellow tones. Best thing is the very very light tones and so many purples!! Sets are always so stingy with purples and they’re my favourites hahah.
    My play nicely with my arteza experts and polys and the cheap marco pastel square pencils

    I feel like these muted tones would be good for doing atmospheric perspective. Most of my pencils are very saturated colors its harder to get muted tones.

    Looking at your colour swatch, they made me think of the Brutfuner Macron set so I got the chart out too. There are some similarities but they are not the same. I like the neutrals in this range and this dirty lilac pink you are creating is very pretty. Having seen them appearing I went off to look on Amazon this week but they were not there. I didn't think about the actual Castle Arts web site!
    You have either broken up by now or are in the last few days so I hope you have a lovely break in your new home. Do you have lots of gardening to do now? It looked like a steep garden. I thought I had got to the end of my planting for the year. Then on Thursday I went to a garden centre for 1 thing. Now I have to go out and start planting and yes, it's more than one thing. Plants are as bad as pencils for jumping into your basket.

      I can see myself getting into gardening at some point but for now, my husband takes care of that! Holidays have started and so far it’s been nice but I’ve still not switched off from school fully, that will happen just before it’s time to go back, no doubt!

      @@ColouringwithK It does take a long time to come down from stressful times.
      Gardening has become interesting to me because I had a brand new big raised border to plan and I did it by choosing only to plant perennials that will come back year on year, using roses as the skeleton holding the boarder together and I used my colouring knowledge to pick the colour scheme and it's worked really well. It goes from yellow/orange/reds and white/cream at the top end and then morphed it into blues/mauve/pinks again with white and cream. I have 3 hours of help each summer week and this week Biddy said to me that she felt my colours were lovely and that the whole thing is very pretty. That meant a lot to me.
      It's also a great stress-buster. You have to switch methods of thinking and focus to garden. I hope you get relaxed very quickly. You have had a big stressful year. Working hard and moving house. Those are big deals.

    The colors of these pencils appear as slate shades which are different then you see in other sets. Which I can see using often. Thank you for sharing K. I don't understand why one can purchase the same books from other countries and the paper is better quality then from the US.

    • @ColouringwithK

      Yes, it’s odd, paper quality across countries does vary as they use different publishing companies

  • @waymire01

    I got really frustrated with Amazon paper as well.. but I've learned a few techniques that work wonderfully, and ways to tell just what kind of Amazon paper it is.. because there are multiple different papers and you just never know what you are going to get. It's much harder if there are no flips or review photos.. but if there are you can generally tell by the color of the paper and the color/quality of the ink. Lines in the print, or a grey/taupe cast are a dead giveaway it's really awful. I find black backs tend to work much more poorly as well and avoid them. The more crisp dark print with a bright white paper is usable at least. There seem to be certain artists that produce on the really bad paper.. and although I've been told you only have two options, one of which being "premium" which is quite glossy and obvious, and almost always contains color ink somewhere... I have to wonder if Amazon is choosing paper based off the price point of the book? Books selling for around the $10 (USD) + mark seem to have the better paper. My go-to's are bases.. alcohol marker or my most recent new favorite, inktense or watercolor pencil blended with alcohol marker which gives no bleed through and no warping at all. You can use either alone as well, I did a page with nothing but the inktense that was lovely and left it just the way it was.... but I'm usually going back in with a bit of pencil for shadow and highlight to really take it up a notch... and of course some metallic, glitter, acrylic, etc pens for accents. Bases make it so much easier to get saturated color, and a smoother finish, with much less work. Now I'm working in a ton of Amazon books I avoided before, and have bought a few more as well.

    • @ColouringwithK
      @ColouringwithK  28 дней назад +1

      Thanks for all the handy tips. I agree, I like using the Inktense with alcohol marker blender on Amazon paper with pencils on top, definitely the way to go, for me at least! Some of the Amazon paper is really terrible and if I can avoid it, I do!
