My photography professor in college showed me this exact camera (because I was the only one in his class that shot film) and I remember being blown away by how strange it was! I actually never got to see any photos taken with the camera and after seeing your video I feel like I HAVE to get one of these. Such a neat concept and the shots you got with it are fantastic!

The image angle is about 120 degrees, not 180. The Horizon 202 is besically the same camera, just with a plastic shell but the innards are almost identical. There's one important difference: it has speeds down to 1/2 sec which make it usable in low-light situations.
BTW, the variable slot-width vs. exposure time is the same with all focal plane shutters in 'normal' cameras at all speeds faster than the flash sync speed. If you use the flash at faster speeds only a part of the frame will be xposed.

Good Video, as I to have an Horizon as it is called the Horizont 35 and my model dates back from 1968 which I look up on a Russian/English Camera web site that the Serial Number of the older models are the first 2 numbers of the year that it was made, Kinda like the Nikon F/F2 bodies. When I look at your model that it was made in 1971.As I took my camera to Japan, as yes I got 2nd looks, but the lens was sharp as I shot 200 & 400 ISO film, and the lens on my model is very much Contrasty, and yes I did see my fingers on some shots as I forgot to bring the handle. The format of our Horizon is 24mm x 120mm in which it the same on the X-Pan as for the Widelux that it is 24mm x 140mm much wider. Also had to make sure that the Parallax is level so I always look at the viewfinder in which it has the Bubble level on the top of the viewer... Also in closing I do agree in what you said about of Gear, My gear is also Used, from the 1950's to my Contax II to the 1960's of my Nikon's, to the 1970's to the 1980's as my digital gear is also Used, I do not believed in the NEW GEAR look. I think that a camera will last for decades if you take care of it. Next time when I look at Kurbrik;s 2001 film again I will think of the Horizont model.. Another photographer that I also admire is Michael Ruetz in which I have 4 of his books, I do not think that he use the Horizont, I think that he use the Linhof Techincam Wide Format.
    Thanks for the video...

Great video! I've just got one of this beauty! I want to add one piece of info here: the main utility of the grip is to avoid to find your fingers in the picture :D I don't have it, I'll shoot with a tripod

Noblex is another swing lens alternative. They’re pricier though, but I’m been thinking about a Noblex 135U. They seem a little sturdier and better made. Also, great to see a shout-out to the amazing Jens Olof Lasthein and I’m not just saying that because he’s a fellow Swede-his books really are totally amazing.

thank you for this video. I own the 202 series of this camera, not the old original one that you're talking about but some more "fancy" and more plastic. It one of the best cameras I used ever. I love every single roll I exposed with. Sadly fact - it's stopped working now, something happened to the shutter mechanism some months ago, and the rewinding know also broken already few years but it still was ok, somehow I managed to rewind the exposed film a few years of our being together. Now I'm looking for some replacement to photograph the panoramic image and Horizon is the most affordable in the terms of price, but still, there are too many on eBay, but most of them are the newest Lomography version that i don't like much because of the lack of features - now they removed the aperture knob.

There is just something magical about composing in panoramic format. However, I was always a bit skeptical of those cameras with rotating lenses because of the distorted lines. But I have to admit that the images from this little camera look incredible! I hope it will be featured in future videos every now and then

Yeah I'd like to also try it indoors and test the results. The problem is (and what I forgot to mention) that the focus is set, so you only increase your range of focus by stopping down the aperture. The manual suggests to use f16 to achieve focus of 1 meter away😅

The light leak you mentioned is because the light seals are old and made from a chemical that decomposes over time. I also have a Horizont camera and changed the seals and the problem went away. Hope this helps!
