One thing I recommend, is not to set your building on top any table/platform coverings but cut holes into them, that way you can make it look like snow is drifting up the building sides etc vs just looking like a building has been plonked down.
Do you mix and match different brands? I’m new at this and wondering if I need to stick with one maker for scale and a cohesive look. I’d love to know your thoughts:)
This is a great question and the answer is that it depends a little bit. So a couple of factors come into play. Firstly to answer the question in an easy way, yes, if you use only one brand the village will be easier to display in a cohesive way. However, I find that I pick up pieces for my village in so many different ways that I style them in a way to bring the look together. For example I tend to get a lot of pieces after Christmas when they go on sale. So from a budget perspective you will have some variation but save lots of money. Another point is people like to gift this type of item when they know you collect, so again you may end up with other types. Or like in my case my kids will see something they just love and I go with it. So it really depends on how you will collect. Using different elevations in your village will help disguise this by placing similar sizes on the same level. I hope this helps!
I was meaning to make one this year as well! I start putting it up in the fall so I think I will do it as I am putting it up. Please share any tips for organizing it when you do yours, it really helps everyone ❤️

Hi Rose, I'm trying to organize a list of my houses. Do you have some sort of inventory list that you have for your houses?

Yay! Thank you! 😊
Where have you gotten some of your villages?
I always look post Christmas for deals, some are from Walmart, some lowes, the others have been gifts. I also have a set from Costco. ❤️
