I hiked and camped on the Big Pine Lakes trail with 2 friends. We hiked up past 3rd lake and made it a bit past the fork between the Palisade Glacier and 4th lake trails. We turned around after crossing the stream because conditions became too sketchy for just microspikes.
All footage filmed with a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Hike this trail many times as a kid and young adult. Back in the late 1950’s and 60’s the first three lakes were cloudy from the remnants of the Palisades Glacier
Glacier is still there
it's very impresesive to see you three guys work together to make this video.
Спасибо вам за прекрасное видео и отдельная благодарность за мелодию "Gary Owen". Кастер бы поставил лайк :)
Great video, and loved the unique penny whistle shots and dancing. I'm rather surprised so much dirt trail has already appeared, I would have thought most of it was atill covered. I'm becoming more hopeful that at least some trails in the Eastern Sierra will be more hikable by the time I get there on July 9.
Lots of snow still. Was fishing there in June at glacier lodge. My most favorite place. Hike those trails many times n now my knees are bad. Miss hiking a lot.
Perfect! So helpful for my hike on Friday
Hello did you end up hiking all the lakes? Is there still a lot of snow?
@CarlosFlores-cu9vo we only went to the second lake
There are some snow patches. Unfortunately it wa too warm and we decided not to go past the 2nd lake
Paul, thanks for sharing. I will be on that trail next week July 6th.
Have a great time!
Breathtaking!!!
I did this last year, but went all the way to the glacier. Hands down of my favorite trips I have done! Such a beautiful spot and you did a great job capturing it! Got a sub from me! Keep up the good work!
Great outdoor adventure Paul! The scenery out there is incredible. Fantastic filming and editing man
Appreciate it!
Hola una pregunta cuál.salida es en el 395 Yo busqué pero mi GPS no me dió la ubicación alguien sabe por favor gracias
👍
Thank you for sharing this amazing hike to big pines 🥾
How long did it take you to reach the second lake ? And how much elevation total ? Thanks
Hey there! An all trails comment brought me to this vid and had a couple questions about the trail condition. Was wondering what the night temp was like? Were there sufficient spots to set up tents at the lakes that weren’t covered with snow? Doing this trail in about a week!
Also, thanks for putting a cool vid together! Gets me pumped to do it soon.
Hey! Glad you enjoyed the video.
If I remember correctly, June 26 night temps were in the mid-30's but it was windy so it was freezing-- worst night of sleep I've ever had in my 20 degree quilt with a down jacket on. June 27 night temps were high-30's but there was no wind which made it significantly better.
Looks like the weather is warming up though so I personally think that you don't need to worry too much about night temps. Have a safe trip!
@@PaulSantasGood Intel, very helpful.
When did you start wearing sunglasses and where did you learn the dance of the Irish?!
The brightness of Big Pine forced me to wear sunglasses and the beauty of Big Pine moved me to dance 🤣
When was this filmed? And how do you think the snow conditions should look mid july?
Filmed on June 26 and 27. The weather is rapidly warming right now so if I had to guess, most of the snow should be gone by mid-July but water levels might be much higher as well.
@@PaulSantas thanks
