  • I show exactly why this classic 36" Bunton walk behind mower keeps slipping forward.
It's not the belt that's slipping. It's the forward engaging lever that's making it slip forward. All you need to do is tighten the bolt to the lever as demonstrated in the video. This is what I found out after so much trial and error. Before you go buying a new transmission, and before you buy a new belt, check all screws to the handles and levers and see if they are tight! Something so simple can be overlooked 100% of the time. Always check everything before you buy any parts :)

Kool Thanks, my 2005 Bob-cat hydro 36 walk behind does that. I 1st thought I was hitting it with my stomach. Lol then I noticed that wasn't it. I will check those screws.

Good luck! I’m sure you’ll get it figured out. Just patience and trial and error. 52 inch must be BIG! Mine is a 36 hydro

    I apologize !
No reason for me to be a ass !
I agree walk behind mowers really work super :)
    I run a 36 lesco belt drive !
    Part numbers mean nothing !
But that is no problem !
Might even be for the best !
If they were parts to a mower that was still being built !
    Like scag for instance !
Sure I could call the scag dealer and buy the part !
But the scag dealer is very proud of his parts :)
    Best to you !

My dad worked in R and D for bunton back in the day the way they tested durability of the frames was to drive them off the loading dock till they broke then redesign it stronger and repeat till.they could survive 500 jumps with no failures they are great mowers well atleast until 97 when textron bought them out and ruined them but

That sounds amazing. I wish I could be there and have that kind of job to do those tests. That’s incredible!

Hey sorry to bother you thanks for your videos but i just bought one of these in really good shape for its age but theres a piece that comes off the bottom of the hydro oil tank thats located at the top of the handle bars im sure you know what im talking about but i dont see any hoses coming off of it it has two openings one at the one at the bottom and one off the side but again no hoses i havent started it or tried driving it wanted to do research first and see if you could help me

    • @GreenThumbEngines

Um, does the mower have the model and serial number on the frame somewhere? Maybe you can tell me what those numbers are and I can send you a link of what you’re trying to find

    • @GreenThumbEngines

Is it the same mower, bunton? Or is it a walk behind in general

@@GreenThumbEngines hey buddy. So I got it running good now. But I can't get it to move properly. The right wheel keeps going in reverse. Any ideas

    • @GreenThumbEngines
      @GreenThumbEngines  3 года назад +1

@@chrisjr1028 alright, check this. On the right handle bar, if you squeeze it, look on the side of the frame where the handle bar is and you’ll see a linkage on the right side. There’s a linkage on the Right side and every time you squeeze it, the link pulls back when you squeeze the handle bar, and then it releases when you let go of the handle bar. You might have to mess with that right side linkage. Try to make it identical to the left side. If you mess with that, it’s what keeps the mower driving straight forward without turning on it’s own. That’s how you give it an alignment to keep it straight while it’s driving. But maybe it’s messed up. Could be why it’s reversing... because I know if you squeeze both handle bars down, the mower should reverse very slowly.

@@GreenThumbEngines I think I'm going to sell the mower I'm tired of messing with it. I think It will end up costing me more than it's worth. Now to just find someone to buy it
