That hull number (595) is NOT Skipjack, it belongs to the 594 (Permit) class, of which the Thresher (SSN 593) was the first hull. I rode USS Snook (SSN 592), USS Plunger (SSN 595) & USS Haddock (SSN 621)
This is becoming more and more of a project I want to take on. Hopefully spring 2022 can take the plunge into this side of the RC hobby. These are amazing! What size cylinder is inside this boat ? I imagine you have the WTC listed on your website as well?
Very nice sub, then again everything you have done impresses me. Do the Sail planes control much on this scale? I have the kit and wondering how I should make it. Thanks
Yes they do! Typically fairwater or bow planes are reserved for depth control and stern planes for pitch control. In this setup, depth control was excellent using the stock fairwater planes.
I've made a few 3D model subs (USS X-1, USS Shark, USS Thresher and Sierra I)I intend to carve in foam to make a fibre glass hull, does anyone have any resources on making the hull? Cheers!
So Cool!
Steve does amazing detail work. 👏
Nice video .Like it very much.

Just ran into this page . What Badassery is this. Cool stuff
Awesome work as always, Bob. I’m interested in the depth control. That is really nice. Does OTW make cylinders in 2,5” and 3”?
OTW only makes 3.5 and 4.25" diameter cylinders. They're both offered on my site.
Still waiting to buy that RC fit out..😏
Is this conversion kit for this model still available?
Cast resin replacement control surfaces, etc? No. I can supply props, driveshafts, bushings, horns, cylinders and more, however.
pretty good model, but one question, where is your 1/96 I-400 🤪🥺?
Well... not 1/96, but 1/144 build coming later this summer after my surgery recovery.
What was that sub on the wall above your left shoulder? I don't recognize the coning tower. French? Chinese?
Russian Borei Class! I offer the 3D CAD files to 3D print your own!
