Worked as an auto tech for 35 years and had to chuckle when you were talking about the armchair tuners, thought about all those times the customer told me what was wrong with their vehicle. Just smiled, figured it out and fixed it. Great boss, Great team, you did everything and your crew did all they could do it was just Britney's day. God Bless.

Hey buddy you did a great job .004 ain’t even a half a blink of your eye. It’s one hell of a tough field of dragsters out there and you are one of the main ones. You can believe she was very happy to slip away with the win . Keep your head up in the sky brother nothing to be ashamed of. You are a champion and don’t forget that…

agree 0.0043 loss to the champ is definitely a sign that you are right there at the pointy end. What is also great to see is that we are seeing more 330 mph speeds.

Clay easily beat her on reaction time (0.04 advantage), but his car lost 0.02 to 60ft and another 0.02 on the rest of the track. They are very close to winning.

Dear Mr. Millican, yeah.. one thing I can confirm, not me in the game of playing Jim O. I guess that if you win twice in a season, people can start playing crew chief. I cannot. I got way too much respect for that man. Thank you for the *Donna Cam* . She is really good at capturing moments that tv can’t

I promise my crew chief resume is a little rusty... Y'all are going places, a force to be reckoned with. Last weekend was a full day of upsets, so many of the points leaders out so very early. In almost all categories, not sure if the favorites fell flat, or if the underdogs had their day of reckoning. Keep up the great work!

Clay, some of us have been following TF long enough to have seen Big Daddy run in person and know that Goodyear tire compounds have changed over the years. We don't see those long smokey burnouts in TF anymore and there's a reason as you noted. Thanks for clearing it up for the newcomers. And many hats off to Rick for understanding that it takes a bit of time to get a handle on 11,000HP in every type of variable - track temp, air, etc. but 2 Wally's in '23 is nothing to be disappointed about and we know more await! The team is full of talent and we'll keep cheering you on from Chi-town.

    The Arm Chair Tuner…
Dunning and Kruger suggest that this phenomenon stems from what they refer to as a "dual burden." People are not only incompetent; their incompetence robs them of the mental ability to realize just how inept they are. Incompetent people tend to: Overestimate their skill levels.
    Competent people underestimate themselves.
    Great job Clay & team!

I’m no crew chief for sure but I’ve been watching and going to the drags for 40 years. I think people forget that each one of these cars/driver combo’s are different. What works for one team my not work for another. From my perspective, each team needs to hit on a combo that works for their car and then factor in the track and weather. That’s a ton of data to accumulate and decipher. The big money teams have more parts and time to test different combinations, in different conditions, thusly they have a bigger playbook. With the addition of Rick Ware and the funding he brings, I fully expect Jim O.’s playbook to expand immensely. Remember, the playbook is different for every car/driver so it takes time. Heck this team is running right at the top most weekends and more importantly collecting data every lap. It’s fun to watch!

Loved your comments about the "key board crewchiefs"! 😂 It's so easy to write about what you think will solve anyone's issues without having the knowledge, or even if you're a trained mechanic, with many years of experience, not so easy! We all miss the throttle whack during the warm-ups, the long 1/8 mile burnouts, etc. But if the data shows it's not necessary, then so be it. You're one of the best out there Clay. Keep doing the good work! 🙂
