  • Performing a Big Band Drum Cover of a Duke Ellington Piece that was originally recorded by the Duke Ellington Orchestra in 1946 and was originally called "Hop Skip And Jump" and was a vehicle for the great Johnny Hodges. The tune was Transcribed and Arranged by David Berger For The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and especially during the 1999 Essentially Ellington Competition the Forth Annual Competition For The Jazz at Lincoln Center High School Jazz Band Competition. This Verison was recorded by The Connecticut Youth Jazz Workshop Under The Direction of Mr Reid P. Gerritt from Middletown CT and recorded in 1999 For The Essentially Ellington Competition at The Lincoln Center in New York City. The Tune came off both the Essence Of Ellington and The Take 2 CD by The CT Youth Jazz Workshop Directed by Reid Gerritt who also was a band teacher in Madison CT and taught at both Jeffrey Elementary and Brown Middle School in Madison CT. Here is Duke Ellingtons Rockabye River Transcribed and Arranged by David Berger Circa 1946 Ellington Version.
