Not so different from ours, seeing as HR is the most powerful weapon inside of a corporation. So much as fart at the wrong time and your under investigation.
In fact even if most of the organization you work for isn’t evil, HR probably is.
@@Wr41thgu4rdHis point was that HR is used as a tool to screw over employees. HR is a tool to protect management. A world where HR would protect employees from reprisal from management is a bigger fantasy than FTL travel.

HR *IS* a weapon, but it's important to understand who's wielding it. Management is. If you complain to HR, generally one of 3 things is going to happen.
A. They put together a justification and then fire you.
B. They take the minimum action needed to insulate management from any liability.
C. They ignore you completely.
In most modern corporations their are simultaneously the most powerful department AND the most incompetent depsrtment.
Go figure...
See the problem is our evil organizations always have such an evil aesthetic. If he walked in to a space ship full of pastel colors and chill vibes we might've had him.

@@litapd311They assumed its a death octahedron all because of the orb of a similar design being named the death star but in reality this vessel is known as the SunshineLollipop DoublePyramid, it was just waiting on a paint delivery to recieve its beautiful ice blue and cotton candy pink colour theme, honest.

It's actually De'ath Octahedron, named after the designer, Steve De'ath. It's annoying how often people get that wrong. Granted, Steve is evil.

This character is significantly more emotionally mature than Anikin Skywalker.
To be fair it was not like Anakin was in a position to refuse Palpatine. There was no way for Anakin to be certain the visions would be caused by his hand, unlike the previous visions of his mother that were a result of his inactivity. The only people who could help him only told him "Let go", Palpatine was the only option he had left, an option that at least listened to Anakin, one that he knew almost as long as the Jedi.
@@pepperedash4424 that doesn't explain all the child murder though. Any solution that requires the murder of tens of children should be looked at with suspicion. This character would know that.
@@JohnFrumFromAmerica That does, in fact, explain the child murder. When Anakin accepted Palpatine, he chose the path of the dark side. Yoda had this to say about choosing the dark side; "Once you start down the dark path, forever it will dominate your destiny, consume you it will". With Anakin turning to Palpatine, he inadvertently allowed the dark side to take hold of the decisions and outcome of his life all for the worse.
@@pepperedash4424 that just lazy writing excuse to not have to justify characters behavior and have a catch all after the face magic explain all character motivation. Everyone who chooses dark always does the worst possible thing and everyone who chooses light does good things. It's very simplistic view of human motivation and actions.
@@JohnFrumFromAmerica Not at all. Anakin's decision to accept Palpatine's advances is the cause of the dark side taking hold over Anakin's life. The prequels constantly demonstrate those who choose the light, the Jedi, have the dark side affect decision-making by "clouding their vision." Justification and explanation are two entirely different words with separate meanings.

@@gabbonoo Personally I wrote my fanfic protagonist to be a dark hero/villain, since pure heroes are almost never believable.
I don't think people can call Mary Sue if your character is blatantly unlikable in some ways, even if they're overpowered.

I think its funny that in some of the Star Wars Novels I've read most of the high level officers are fully aware how annoyingly evil Palpatine is.
It's because when you consider how large and seemingly, professional run the Empire is, the Saturday Morning Cartoon villainy of Palpatine, the Empire stops making any sense. The EU writers sprinkled some self aware characters near Palpatine to sort of cover that up.
@@Duamerthrax It makes plenty of sense. There are literally dozens of bureaucracy levels, entire organizations, between Palpatine and the poor schmuck flipping the switches at a Star Destroyer's console. The average Imperial citizen barely knows who the Emperor even is, just that there is one.
And yeah man, those self-aware Imperials always had my sympathy. Just company men grinding away towards a pension.
This…this is a masterpiece. I love these animations!
I always found it funny that Palpatine would be pretty close to getting someone to give in to the dark side, and then when they're just about to cross the point of no return, he says something to the effect of, "Yes! Give in to your hate! Strike down my apprentice Vader, who is your own flesh and blood! That is exactly what I want you to do - you going ahead with what you are about to do will fulfill my evil agenda perfectly! Please continue!"
Then, upon hearing this, the hero has second thoughts and ends up deciding to go with restraint after all. Go figure.
The big one is with Luke at the end of Return of the Jedi, but pretty sure he does the same thing at least a couple other times in the prequels & sequels, too.
The only time is with Luke.
@@CT-sp7uq He does the same thing with Rey in Rise of Skywalker. She goes to Palpatine fully intending to kill him. He then explains to her that her that he planned everything and that him being killed by her is exactly what he needs to rise to power again. Then she decides not to kill him after all because it's what he wants.
If he just kept his mouth shut, she would have done exactly what he wanted her to.

I miss these beautiful skits so much, I love the live action too but there’s just something special about the way these animated characters interact with each other and speak amongst themselves. Joel’s talented enough to do whatever he wants but imo this is his niche.
I knew one of the guards would speak. It's just part of Joel's style to essentially include set dressing characters into his stories.
