- I have always loved the Sideshow Dinosauria line, and lamented its demise. I managed to buy the ones I really wanted, and not just reviewing them, but revisiting them. But there is one I never got started on, and today I rectify that.
Celebrating a past year for sauropods, and ushering in a new one that promises to be another golden year for them, this is the Sideshow Dinosauria Apatosaurus maquette. There is just one word to summarize it all - awesome.
Whether the colour application, the sculpt, the general accuracy, or just on sheer size, there is no doubt that this will be the showpiece of many a collection.

Still an absolute dream of a model. If I ever liquidate my current collection, I’m sure a chunk of those funds and shelf space would go to something like this!
Well as long as you don't liquidate your fine Schleich collection! Seriously, as I move along, I feel myself wanting to pare down my collection, and either sell or donate many but the best models to keep it to a minimal few. This one would definitely _not_ be among them!
Wow, what a whopper! I really don't want to call this a beast. Because this thing looks so mind-soothing and gentle. This review is like a hint for what is coming next because I'm sure the collectors are expecting a plethora of sauropods, and you started the year with a sauropod review. I really have no words to describe the beauty of this statue, my dear sir. I'm so happy for you and eagerly waiting for the next video. 🖤
Hahah what a great comment from you! Well as you have seen, this one was followed by the HLG Alamosaurus and Ademar's Argentinosaurus! And we still have new releases from HLG to consider! So yes, I can't wait... provided my wallet survives 😅😅😪😪
This is by far my favorite dinosaur model, and favorite sauropod, the design, especially the spine, I absolutely adore this design in particular, so getting such a thing would only be a dream for me.

I thought that there were others that had supplanted this one. But when I was reviewing it, I realised this was in a class all by itself! It truly is one that demands and commands attention! 😀😀😲

Thank you for your comment! In truth, it is way too huge for most collections and will take up a lot of space, not to mention weight allowance, that I would say it's not necessary unless you are an absolute sauropod nut. The kind of detail we see in modern PNSOs and HLGs now really blows away most of advantages a high end statue like this used to have over mass-produced models. 😊
Although the original model came out in 2011, I’d say it still holds up very well today in terms of accuracy
For sure! I think that after the 2010s we were seeing many reconstructions approaching what we know of today. I don't imagine we'll see many more revisions in the most popular dinosaurs now, except for our good friend Spinosaurus lol!
Wow, a little out of time but Guy, this apatosaurus is amazing!! I remember i Saw this figure for the First time in 2015 when Jurassic world with apatosaurus released!
I am glad you do! And I am sure that everyone who has seen this even in passing can't forget such an awesome statue! This is the one that stands in the centre of a display room if I were rich enough to have a mansion! 😁
