  • Summer is well and truly upon us and with this, the vast majority of our stock is out grazing on grass. In this video we are taking you around all the different groups to find out who lives where and what kind of care they need during the grazing months. With a dairy farms comes a lot of stock so we hope you enjoy meeting more of the clerkenhill animals!

I would keep the Hereford heifers for beef cows and you could put a limmy bull onto them and what a calf you would get darlings xx xx

Nice video and a fantastic herd of heifers coming through. How many acres are you farming to rear so many young stock?

Hi lady's, as regards worming, why don't you use auto release bonuses?? Also, looks like some the cattle had a lot of flies around their faces- do you use any fly repellents? I used to use mineral lick buckets for certain groups of cows, like dry cows, with added garlic. Used to do a superb job of keeping dry cows free of flys!

We did look into it once and I think it was a big cost but it’s definitely something we would consider in the future. We do find worming regularly quite useful as a time to sort any cattle we need to at the same time so it can work quite well for us
We do swish all the cattle when the flies come which we find works really well 😊

Here's a different question about your farm. I notice that you have some fairly aged trees on your property. Some look like real "characters". Do know how old they are? It might be an interesting video to show and tell the best examples.

That's a horrible way of feeding these animals, the food is not distributed evenly, the weak ones are sure to miss out, can't you guys come up with a better operation. 3 or 4 buckets for that many cows?

    • @ipfreely10001

Are you a joke, that's a horrible way.......get a grip, it's the amount overall the group need, yea one day 1 may get more, 1 day a bit less. It evens out. Unfortunately you can't cater to just the odd small calf in a grp unless you drop them down to a younger age gap, which I'm sure the girls are aware of and do. As an ex dairy guy, nobody wants animals to not grow etc. People like you are just unbelievable with comments like that. If you're so worried, ask if you can go and help them out for 6 mrhs, then may be, you'll have some grasp on what exactly goes on and the hard work.
