I have a 2015 1.4tfsi stronic with 230k on the clock. The best advice i can give is buy one with a thorough service history when looking on the second hand market. Dont listen to people who say dont buy a second hand German car, these cars are unreliable if you don't keep up with maintenance plus you don't need to go to Audi for everything so just keep up with maintaining and it will be your best friend. When taken care of its comfortable AF. This car is well insulated, quiet, quicker than you would expect and really fuel efficient. Dont neglect maintenance on this car I repeat YOU WILL REGRET but overall trust me its a brilliant daily car🤝
I couldn’t have said it better myself. THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY RELIABLE AND NOT EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN. Lets not paint all cars with the same brush - if you maintain this car well and drive it well, it will serve you 10x more. Dont buy the cheapest second hand of a car with an unknown accident history and maintenance record and expect the car to be flawless, the proof is always in the pudding. Don’t compromise on the fundamentals. Mines on 225k, I want to see how far it can actually take me.
I have 2016 1.0tfsi with 135k on the clock, the only problem i had with it is dsg clutch failure of which it expensive to fix. It a good car, If you want Audi A3 buy the one with a manual box.
Thanks for the video. I'm the owner of a 1.6Tdi, 2013 model, 155 000 km. And mine is exactly what you say. Went yearly to Kruger and drove on dirt roads and still no rattles. Had it to 2J's detailing to wrap the front part and it still look out of the box. It's no robot racer but it pulls like a steam engine and out on the open road I easily manage 1100 km on the 50 liter tank. She gets her yearly service without any problems and I managed 75000 km on a set of tires. She is not up for sale.
It's been said a few times already down in the comments, but you'd be better off simply avoiding a used Audi. I've owned a 2016 and a 2017 A4 (1.4-litre and 2.0-litre models) and both had gearbox issues (covered under warranty, thankfully). Never again!
I have the 2017 A3 1.4TFSI sport back s tronic, with 200k kms. Great car and value for money. This is my experience 1. The daytime running lights will fail. Just order a new day time running light module from Audi. Cost 2.5k for that module. Plus 1.2 for labour. That close to 4k just for the DRL replacement. I ordered a replica Day time running light from MVA spares but its not as bright as the original 2. Clutch will fail or slip or knock, replacement 25k with labour. 3. Small stuff like rear lights bulbs and all. But nothing serious Positive 1) Endless look, classic design and still holds itself well, continually getting complimented every day. 2) Strong and reliabe engine, never broke down due to engine problems. 3) Powerful car , can easily do 220kms with no sweat, 180kms feel like 140kms. Smooth 4) DSG shifts, amazing 5) Great interior ❤
Not in a negative way but I would like to hear more about these maintenance wise and price cost on it when belts and all nothing to buy but parts are heavy on second hand vehicles especially if the previous owner neglect those Christmas lights
I’ve had the pre facelift cabriolet 1.4tfsi from new (2015). Overall, this car for me has been absolutely reliable without issues. It’s currently on 225.000 kms and still runs like a dream and has only gotten better over time (for me). After the warranty period expired, the only part that needed replacement was an airflow sensor about a year and a half ago which cost R10k at the dealer, I had a off the shelf warranty plan so that covered that. The rest has all been routine maintenance (oil, discs, pads, wipers, plugs) with a minor service being anywhere between R3-5k and a major service being anywhere from R7k-11k through the dealer. Did the timing belt in 2018/19 and that was R14k. It’s due again in at 240.000kms and if I decide to keep the car I’ll probably have that done too. Point is, the car is extremely reliable and maintenance isn’t too bad, the only downside really is just the facts that it came with a belt and not a chain. But it’s a car I’d recommend any-day if it has a full service history and a clear accident record (like any second hand car) I’d say it creeks over speed bumps and not really rattle - but I’ve noticed it’s on all including the vws too (golf).
Another thing, the gearbox, no issues so far - if you follow the maintenance schedule the dealer regularly updates the gearbox to keep it running smoothly. Just maintain your car and driver it like a sane person and you shouldn’t have major issues.
Eish we forgot to talk about some maintenance parts cost, Are they so high we had to ignore?😅 it seems like a great car but I would always chose manual if I could I hate gearbox issues 😮😢

A friend of mine bought the hatch earlier this year, the car looks incredible, drive well and has no issues.

At that low mileage the gearbox shouldn't have a failure. Audi is poo.
Had the same issue 😂
@@ndzalamamathebula2104 20k to 25k, at Audi center. You can try VAG randburg they cheaper or any other reputable service centre.
I am not gonna buy an AUDI with a manual hearbox😂 I'd rather suffer though fixing the gearbox than a manual nowadays.

The best advice as a technician I can give is don't ever buy a used Audi🤭
But everyone says Audi is just a VW in a suit and tie, so does that mean you shouldn’t buy used VW TSI’s and TDI’s as well ?
Now this is some sound advice🙏
@@HenryMcChanj Always find a good TDI if you go with those brands
Who hurt you?🥲 anyway that sounds like terrible advice.
I've a got a used Audi Q3 TDI Quattro. It's been 6 years and it's now at 210,000km and has never given me issues.
I'm really loving these episodes really informative some of us can't afford to buy brand new cars

@@tocgaming78 Yep, and some good ol' Sentra's😁
It's hard to do because most of those cars don't even have the same engine from factory anymore.
Twenty twenty twelve 😅
I was just about to comment😂

Anybody noticed that cool red beemer chilling in the background looking unbothered?
So, in short, none of the cited weaknesses apply to the 1.4 TFSI 150bhp version (the likeliest purchase).
