  • Kamakshi is 80-year-old Alice in Wonderland, in Maharashtrian
hinterland, sliding down the rabbit hole of human poverty and Nature's
    politics.
Kamakshi is an un-chanted spell, epiphanic meditation evoked by water.
Explored through cyclic thirst and the grit of old age.
In the future, humans will have no right to water; the rivers, lakes,
rain, and oceans would be properties of corporations (they already are,
I guess). The incredulity of such a thought was the seed of this film.
I wanted to explore the concept of 'Samadhi' attained through ceaseless labor.
Also, animals and other life forms are quite important in my film
making style, so they are the crux of the water-less situation created
    by us.
In today's climate of hatred and hoarding, the self-sacrifice of a
person can bless life with regeneration and hope.
Synopsis - short - An 80-year-old woman digs a well with her horse. In
her thirst induced delirium, a girl appears. As she goes deeper and
deeper, the water erupts making the desert green and quenching the
    thirst of her horse.
Synopsis - long - End of the world water-less village. An 80-year-old
woman Kamakshi is a water-seller for travelers in a desert land.
Unable to travel far to collect water due to progressing age, she digs
her own well with the money saved/hidden in a boat left by oceans
before; near her house. As the villagers dig deeper and deeper the
money gets over and they leave. She goes down and digs the well for
days as her horse and ox look upon. In her delirium, a girl appears.
The water erupts and she takes 'Samadhi', making the desert green
and her horse quenches thirst as microbiological life begins
    again...leading to the ocean.
    IMDB synopsis:
Kamakshi, An 80-year-old Water-seller in a Dystopian Timeless Desert
land, digs a Well with her Horse-Kafka and Oxen-Huuri. The Ocean
resides in a Boat near her Den. As she goes deeper and deeper, the
Water erupts making the Desert Green.

After reading the synopsis, it all started making sense. Beautiful film. The way deserted land, water and livestock is shown reminds me of Kurosawa a lot.

Understood that it’s related to water crisis but explain story ......!
Other thing is - what is relation between first conversation in the car and next part of the story?

Honestly, I felt like I was in the hands of Sergei Parajanov or Amit Dutta' but the film has an entirely unique perspective visually and the soundscape was a perfect blend with the landscape and the metaphor's it was trying to portray. I just have one Criticism the title's of the film felt completely out of sync with the quality of the film and the theme it threw me off a little as well. I don't know if it was an homage to anybody but it looks completely and utterly odd with the brilliance of the film it irritated me, quite frankly. Yet this film was awe-inspiring congratulations I'll be looking forward to your feature debut.

    Hello Satindar Singh Bedi!
My name is Marina Kaznina, and I’m a participant of a workshop on making an animated
documentary film. This workshop takes place at «Kinoproba» Film Festival
    (kinoprobafest.com/) in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
During the Festival we are going to make a short film about the winners of «Kinoproba»’s
previous editions. We’ll write a script based on the interviews with winning directors and
    then animate it with puppets.
You’ve got the Grand Prix of «Kinoproba» in 2015 with your film “Kamakshi” . Could you
please spare a bit of your time and answer a couple of questions? I would be utterly grateful!
As we are going to use the conversation’s original sound and maybe even video, it would be
great to talk to you using Skype videocall, preferably at some quiet place and with your headset on (in order to get the best audio quality possible).
Could you please tell me which day and time such a call would be convenient for you?
And the last thing, what is your native language?
    Thank you!
    Best regards,
    Marina Kaznina
