  • Aprilia has this week re-entered the scooter market with a fresh model, the SR GT, which breathes new life into the compact scooter segment with sportsbike styling and genre-bending components.
Last week, INFO MOTO got the chance to ride the new Aprilia SR GT at a Melbourne go-kart track. Here's how that went down...
    What we like:
    - Sporty, premium looks
    - Nice Showa front-end
    - Versatile
    Room for improvement:
    - Exxy for a compact scooter
    - Storage could be better
    - Combined braking unconvincing
Aprilia SR GT 125 price and specs
The new Aprilia SR GT, which was revealed globally at last year's EICMA motorcycle show, has this month arrived locally in two variants, priced from $7440 and $7540, respectively.
Distinguishing the slightly higher spec SR GT Sport, which comes at a $100 premium, are things like red wheels and louder Aprilia graphics. There are no mechanical differences between the two variants.
The scooter draws power from a 125cc i-get engine that delivers 11kW and 12Nm. An automatic start/stop system increases fuel efficiency with Aprilia promising around 350 kilometres between refills of the 9.0-litre tank.
Unique to the Aprilia SR GT, as opposed to its more practically positioned compact scooter competitors like the Suzuki Address and Honda Dio, are things like long-travel Showa front suspension (122mm travel) and Michelin dual-sport tyres that wrap 14- and 13-inch cast wheels.
Other interesting features include full LED lighting, USB charge ports, an LCD dash with smartphone connectivity and a combined braking system.
The Aprilia SR GT is expected to hit showrooms in the coming weeks in six colour schemes: Black, Street Grey, Infinity Blue, Street Gold, Iridium Grey and Red Raceway (as tested).

In my country, the 125 is AU$ 6450. The 125 "Sport" is AU$ 6690 and we have a Sport 200 (which is in reality a 174cc engine), that has about 3 hp more power and the price is AU$ 6990

Gotta love Aprilia SR GT. My girlfriend's husband owns one. She lets me drive it while he's deployed.

I'm getting the 125. Guess I'll just have the stands taken off. Don't want sliding off...

Well yeah, that'd have been lovely, but sadly those days are behind us. There's less and less of the old ones about too. I've been stubbornly keeping riding my 172cc Italjet Dragster, but I'm giving up. Costs are getting too high trying to keep it on the road. Part of the frame has now snapped. I'll miss the power, but I'm going to get one of these SRs to replace it.

just learn how to ride that bike without electronic aids. two wheels, not that much power really, there ain't no reason a person cant learn to modulate your brakes. Dress for the slide, not the ride!
