    I just got a medium and took my first ride with it today. I definitely feel safer with it, especially on my busy highway commute to work.

    It does not look loose at all. Good video! Just purchased the Turtle 2.0 but haven't got it yet (I'm 6' and chose the size LL based on the chart). Thanks & stay safe!

    Great review. Sizing is tricky as initially my vest felt too loose, but the instructions set my mind at rest as they do say it needs space under it

    Your comment on Ryan F9 brought me here. Neat device, but pretty pricey...but that's better than broken bones.

      Not as pricey as a lot of motorcycle injuries. My buddy always used to say, “Leathers are cheaper than a skin graft.” I guess the same goes for spinal injuries with this.

    love to hear from a perspective of a tall person. I'm about 6'3" (and not skinny, either) and it's really hard to rely on what manufacurers think is large. Ordered the Vest (one of the big german Motorcycle Shops currently sells it for 300€ - quite a bargain i guess) and looking forward to it.
    would love to hear more reviews from a tall persons perspective.

    I just got mine. I'm 5'7 200 lbs. The Helite guy I chatted with was adamant that I get the LL. Even though the chart states I could get a smaller size. So far so good. Its just as loose as it is in this video.

      The advice I got from Helite dealer was the back length is the most important dimension so that was probably why they recommended the size to you

    A concern I have with the airbags worn under your garment is how do you know the garment is big enough to allow for airbag expansion w/o causing injury to you if there isn't? You'd need to see it tested on someone your size (or you).

  • @joedoe7506
    @joedoe7506 2 года назад

    is tether airbag suitable also for motorcycle passenger with a top case at the back? if someone hits you from the back, how can you pull the string if you're blocked by the top case

  • @bazerwazer6180

    Please note that the Dainese Smart Jacket can be worn either under or OVER a riding jacket. Your comments appear to imply that it has to be worn under a garment (as does the AlpineStars Tech 5), which is incorrect.

    • @thecontactpatch4303
      @thecontactpatch4303  3 года назад +1

      The consensus tends to be they are more effective for cervical protection when paired with matching garments due to their lower expansion. Yes, they can be worn over garments and will likely offer some protection, but one really needs to choose whether they want to wear an airbag under or over their other riding gear. Dainese, Alpinestars, and Kilm are all amazing for under garment use, but Helite (probably Spidi and a few others) offer more protection by sacrificing concealment.
      This is just my opinion, but for street and commuting use, I would rather have more impact and neck protection. For track use, where I’m more likely to low side at high speed, I would rather have more abrasion protection over the airbag.

    The problem I have with the tether and possibly the other electronic ones are being it by a car... you absorb the hit before the tether or electronics would deploy the airbag.

    • @thecontactpatch4303
      @thecontactpatch4303  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, you’re absolutely right, the tether is completely dependent on you leaving the bike.

    • @thecontactpatch4303
      @thecontactpatch4303  3 года назад +1

      No, this one is definitely designed for over jacket use. You would have to have a very baggy fit on the jacket to wear it under.
      If you’re looking for one under the jacket, Alpinestars and Dainese make airbags specifically for this.
