Girl, idk what I'm doing wrong. I do soft retwist and whenever I do my monthly wash, the locs web and marry at the root such that I have to pop and tear hair that I can't slip out to put back into the correct loc. In the back it's like a tangled mini fro with random locs sticking out with no relation to a part or section. Still takes me 4+ hours to retwist at 2 years in.
Oh no ☹️. Well, for me I usually pop my locs in the shower right after washing. I find that popping them under running water definitely helps limit breakage and or pain. Maybe try that, if you’re not already? Hope it helps ❤️

What products you use to retwists
I use aloe vera gel to retwist, and afterwards I moisturize. My retwist video explains everything in detail! It’s linked in the description 😊
I don't think of the woman asking you about your hair is a big deal. I think it was interesting that she thought that it was fake but that's the way it is because we keep seeing people with these instant locs. Just tell her that this is my hair. But honestly I think you're overreacting. Hair looks good though.
