- Thomas Sankara was only 37 years old when he was shot and killed by soldiers on October 15, 1987, after a bloody coup that saw his close friend, Blaise Compaoré, take control of the country.
The duo had staged a coup four years earlier, which saw Sankara become president in August 1983.
Popularly known as "Africa's Che Guevara", Sankara has remained somewhat of an icon across Africa and an inspiration to many Pan-Africanists.
As president, Thomas Sankara renamed the country from Upper Volta to Burkina Faso: which means, "Land of Upright People".
Thirty-four years after his death, the mystery surrounding Sankara’s death is yet to be solved. Those allegedly involved in it are yet to be prosecuted and are still at large.
Now, the begging question is, who killed Thomas Sankara? #HistoryVille #ThomasSankara

He's the World's Thomas Sankara.
I think the title is seeking to attract people who have never heard of Sankara. Che Guevara is universally known, so people might be curious about Sankara. I had not heard of Sankara before this video; after it, I agree he is more impressive than Che.
Just advertising, I think.
Sankara spirit will never die look what is happening now in Burkina Faso

That video was too short but it got me to the core. I love Sankara 💘. Please give us everything about him. one Africa one love . I love your teaching Chanel and let me know were to contribute for the growth of our Chanel
My hero
Your title is embarrassing. He's Thomas Sankara. Not Che Guevara. He's not a copy of anything
Heard he grew up together with Blaise Campaore
He did NOT fight in that border conflict. He led a contingent of soldiers who led a stealth mission disarming a malian border contingent, and captured them, this was pivotal in ending the war and because the mission was so dangerous and so tremendously successful, he became an instant national hero and this bolstered his political career.
Famous Swahili saying: "Kikulacho ki nguoni mwako" ... roughly, "What bites/eats you is usually induce your own clothes"... "your own friend could be your worst enemy" - Bob Marley (Who The Cap Fit)
That sounds similar to a GaDangme/Akan proverb when an insect bites you it originated from your clothes
@@grunggadx25 💯
We are going to make the #revolution in his example and memory?
He's the one only Thomas sankara so I don't why you try to put him under someone else's name
France and Blaise Campaore are behind Sankareh death but they will dance to there tune let the law takes it's course
He’s the most Socialist person i’ve ever heard, not communists with their bad way….Sankara knew what his people needs.
Sankara was self-described Marxist. He was a communist himself. I don't think you know what those words mean.
Hes still alive today in Burkinafaso
He is a fulani african revolutionaries
no he is not
@@fatimadampha5419 actually he might be, his father is a fulani mixed according to this narrative.
The sound of the music at the end is beautiful. If this is an Original please mark as your intellectual property. Just a month ago there are many Originals Out from AFRICA'S tallent and the West Stolen it and they made it their own. For example the National Anthem of Ghana or Keniya. Not sure, but one of them is. All intellectual CREATION from Any Country in Africa Attain Copy Rights it as Intellectual Property So that no one can steal your own. See, Even Africas Spirits the West Steal it and Again Slavery! Do you like that? Sorry this comment is mostly unrelated to the program in this presentation, however really the music at the end is awesome.
Capitaine Thomas Sankara😭😭😭😭
Fransa
The anti-Thomas Sankara plot was thick. Anyone who wants to come to verity should look at the trail: Charles Taylor is in prison in the US of A in Massachusetts He is manumitted without following manumission procedure. There is also no jail break even if they could have organised a jail break. So ask yourself this question; who ordered Charles Taylor's manumission before the end of his sentence. The answer is clear. The person or entity that ordered his 'freedom' is the biggest plotter in Thomas Sankara's assassination. And it can only be France working with the State Department of the United States of America. So America government and France were behind Thomas Sankara's assassination
stop comparing sankara to a mass murdering thug like che, sankara was a real leader who bettered the lives of his people
Thomas Sankara meant well for Upper Volta, cause he was a agile president, Biase Campore whom is a puppet to be president so that France can manipulate him
It's stupid to compare sankara to che... Those two leaders are nothing alike. Che Guevara liberated cuba by bloodshed Sankara empowered the nation he didn't do wars. Both were smart but they are nothing alike
Guevara was a murderous psychopath.
How long shall they kill our prophets while we stand aside and look?
Please leave other names Tomas Sankara is enough
Great man. Short sighted leader. He made a lot of unforced errors but his heart was in the right place. The powers that be got to Blaise and he did away with Sankara.
Shortsighted his plant to fight desertification is just as relevant now in the Sahel nations as when he planted those millions of trees seeing hiv as a potential threat fighting against polygamy and arraigned marriages advancing women’s advancement doesn’t seem shortsighted to me did he make mistakes yes but his foresight was on point
