The opening is one shot and so is the dance at sunset. They do their own singing live. Ryan learned jazz piano and barely played before and did not read music. Yeah, they both sang and Ryan actually played the piano.

they had originally hired a double to play all the complicated piano scenes. Ryan Gosling learned how to play the piano so well that the double was never used and all piano scenes are actually him playing the correct notes

Her song at the end and "City of Stars" were both nominated for Oscars and John Legend did a combination of the two at the Oscars, but "City of Stars" won.

I'm glad I watched your reaction since I watched the movie just yesterday and a lot of the symbolism and nods were lost on me. I got all teary re-watching here. I also want to know more about the behind scenes!! I agree the Emma Stone song was the best for creative people. Great work on editing and adding the references!

I’m glad you enjoyed. I liked this movie a lot and out of a lot of different things I’ve watched in the last few years it’s top three in terms of favorites since it brought back so much nostalgia for me but at the same time captured a uniqueness that you rarely get here days. Deserved every award it got!
