In this third of three parts, Levrone talks about the historic run by Ronnie Coleman, and how it all began. Levrone rehashes the much told story of the "concoction" that he gave Ronnie which transformed him seemingly overnight. He goes on to discuss the initial shock of losing to Coleman, and that lead to an - unexpectedly - launching of one of the best careers in bodybuilding history.

All awards and medals involve politics and money. Always did and will always will.
I agree somewhat with your comment brother. I honestly feel kevin, flex or shawn would have won his dorian or ronnie weren't there lol. The problem was than Dorian and ronnie had these over the top non seen before backs, mass and conditioning. And that's somewhat what judges were looking for aside from the business politics. Even jay Cutler he had a different wow factor look as well. Are there bodies ideal? NO, but it's just a different look they brought. I do however feel that in the years that ronnie, dorian, phil and jay came in bloated with bubble gut then I feel that they shouldn't reward that, but in the years they were conditioned to the bone. And the thing is while kevin, shawn and flex had beauty to there physics, it was never that wow different factor that ronnie, phil, dorian and even jay had. Another example was phil heath era, same thing. While he did have a gut in the majority of his wins, he just had that thick cut turtle shell back, roundness 3d look and conditioning wow factor.. but kevin, shawn and flex would always be some of the greats regardless and that's something they can be proud off. I'm still a fan of those guys as some of the greats and I would have gave anyone of those 3 an olympia win, but I can understand why judges gave it to ronnie and dorian. Lastly if kevin brought up his back more and his legs alittle bigger while conditioned then he would have been unstoppable in my opinion cuz he does have the genetics and a great flowing physic. A couple of 2nd and 3rd place finishes on the biggest bodybuilding stage in the world ain't no easy feet.
@@cristopherpino9689 he did have the conditioning some of the times. His problem in my opinion is he had to bring up his back and legs alittle more. I do agree however that he wasnt 100% conditioned in some of those shows brother
@@CraZyCatZDogZ true, he wasnt consistent. Sometimes he was very big but not conditioned and other times conditioned but small

I will NEVER forget at the 97 "O" in the LBC . I came up to you, took a picture with you, you signed my hat, but what I remember most was the compliment and advice you gave me.
I went from middle weight to light hvy. I was off season at 5'8" 225lbs. You asked me to take my shirt off , you wanted to see my size. You looked at me and said "don't waste your time in the light heavy class, you need to be a heavy weight"!
Coming from you, I listened and took your advice. I actually went it Super hvy. Weight later on when it became a class.
You took the time at a show to school me. You spent about 30min. giving me sound advice. I know it was only a 30min but it felt like 5 hours of knowledge in that short amount of time.
(I emailed a pic of us together they day last year). I just wanted to say thank you for changing my life!
People you have no clue how cool and extremely knowledgeable Dave is. If you've met Dave, you'd know what I'm talking about.

wow Dave out of all your stories you should toss more Levrone in them, I honestly never new you worked with him during some of the absolute best years of his life and that you and Kevin were so close. Great interview, so honest, humble, and glad that your both healthy and had you "fun". To Kevin- you were always Mr. Olympia to me and thousands of others, you brought a look of size and classic that I just can't say I will ever see again, it was just amazing and to me the glory days of bodybuilding. You were able to be a mass monster yet still pose like it was a work of art. Thanks for the post, stop back in from time to time Big Kev.
It’s great listening to the bodybuilders of the 90’s reminisce about the other pros they competed against. I’ve heard Dorian, Flex and Shawn all talk about each other and there seems to be a lot more respect for their rivals of those days.

Thank you Dave for having Kevin on your show. I know how huge he was. He guessed pose at my second show in Windsor Ontario Canada way back in 1995. All of us watch him pose from the side of the stage. All of us were in aw of this size shape and pose prowess. Thanks again Dave And Kevin

One day I want to meet Kevin. I live in Columbus and have for whatever reason never me him at the Arnold classic. Such a nice guy, eventhough he never won the O he has done such a good job representing bodybuilding
He is just like he was in that interview. A humble every day guy.
I used to workout in the same gym as Kevin in the early 90's. Gold's gym at the time. Glen Burnie Maryland. Guys would mess with him while he was warming up but respected him enough to leave him alone until he was finished training. Or until he started talking trash to somebody.
Kevin would even come to the gym to hang out after surgery from his pec tear in 93. He just missed hanging out and working out. His arm was in a sling and he was just as nice. Answering people's questions and talking trash. Saying he would recover and come back. I will never forget that. I was there. I saw it first hand. Worked out with him when I was playing football back then. He is 55 years old now. I'm 54.
He placed 5 or 6th at that next Olympia. Going from barely lifting a barbell to being on stage in 3-4 months of training.

What Levrone is saying about Coleman being natural, well I use to look at his pics before he started winning,and I would tell the guys in the gym that this guy is not on the juice, but if he ever goes on it he'll crush everyone and years later it was true so I believe that he was natural before.
This whole talk was amazing, Dave. It almost felt like if I were sit there next to you both while listening to your stories after sharing a meal.
That's why I'm subscribed to your channel.

From an og and over 20 years of been a fan of the sport levrone is one of the athletes that’s had a body that stuck to my head tell this day , one of the best looking bodybuilders in my humble opinion.
Kevin Levrone like most young mennin tge early 90’s was the man on the cover that i would look at and say” man im gonna look like that some day....” I was but all of about 15-16 yrs old then. Senior year in high school. I trained my ass off, won first in every show I did but as the years went on and my youth faded I knew that i was going to have to cross the river to the other side and do growth if i wanted to hang at the national level. I couldn’t. I was too worried about what it would do to my body. Im glad i chose the path I did. I must thank Dave and Kevin for these interviews, its like being a teenager again hearing them talk about the 90’s. Thanks guys, Dave you’re awesome for keeping the memories and the sport alive and Kevin, well let me say you were to BB for me like Jordan was to Basketball for other dudes.
