  • For Ep 10, Shaya Cards came on the podcast. Shaya currently attends UC Berkeley and has been involved in the sports card industry since he was a young kid. Most will remember Shaya from "Sports Card Talk" where he would bring hot takes, predictions, and knowledge every episode. We had a blast in this episode talking about Veecon, Sports Cards vs NFT's, NFL NBA hot takes, and much more!

These vids are good too he thinking different everyone does card shows. This is how he grows past those ppl to make this hobby mainstream with everyone.

@@ClipCity21 Yah these are solid but not everyone is out here buying 20k cards on the regular and half a million dollar charizards. He can do both but I just think that is way more entertaining.

@@thejrodshow7679 yes, i want to see how much more money he looses by making bad deals... at least he’s gotten smarter and realized that you can’t loose much money uploading podcast. I never give props to anyone, but i’m glad to see some growth on his end. Really think his only shot is becoming the card podcaster, because unfortunately his star appeal isn’t quite there outside of the card community, can’t be much worse than Card Collector 2’s podcast. I’d rather listen to my grandparents go at it for an hour than listen to “Card Talk”. So i guess i’m rooting for you sasha? good luck i guess

Curious why the switch to these podcasts style shows now?

At a fundamental level, VeeFriends are napkin doodles that will only hold value so long as Gary connects value/experiences with them. I love the guy, but doesn't anyone else see the irony of the situation?? You buy his doodle that's ugly af, you get an entry into an event only for other doodle holders, and you're there to discuss how great these and other doodles are. It's a self-driving market supported by only a small faction (relatively speaking) of fans, which won't be sustainable long term. You only want them for the perceived value based on what someone just like you paid for it yesterday. No one is putting up a Veefriend in their living room. And like every other NFT, only the people that got in early will make the most money. All you can do is hope you're not the last person holding one lol. Comparatively, sports cards are TANGIBLE objects with a value based on prospective performance, historical accomplishment, and rarity. They have survived for over 100 years. There is intrinsic value driven by events that happen every day, like the stock market -- not by how many celebrities also own them. How can you possibly explain what pixel values are based on? It's pure popularity in the moment, depending on hype -- Snoop, Logan Paul, makes you feel like a lot of important people believe in it. They don't. They got in early, and the value of their pixel portfolio is based directly on a crowd following them...at a time when the market is crashing... It's actually kind of painful to watch.
Happily steering clear of GaryDoodles and pixel crap👍

How is no one talking about panini nfts. They’ve created a solid product to get the card world people into nfts.
Edit: Right as I typed this he mentioned the panini blockchain.

22 million was spent on those auctions. I think the card world has lost touch with how much money that really is to be spent over a weekend in a down economy. Still a lot of liquidity in the market place

@@ceedeeznuts2595 He was an absolute terrible thrower of the football until this past season. Give him credit, he worked his ass off and improved more than any QB in NFL history. BUT… Philly can’t continue to design 9-10 runs a game for him and not expect him to continue to get injured like he already was at the end of last season. Designed run QBs like Cam Newton don’t age well.
