Too bad I just got a hand wired point to point Trainwreck Express build from my builder. I'll stick with the good stuff for now. My advice to anyone is to find a local amplifier builder or repair guy and give them some business by buying their builds. Learn how to work on them, it's going to take people like us to keep the good stuff from disappearing altogether. Support your local amp wizards and learn all you can while you can. That's my plan!!
There were sanctions on Russian vacuum tubes at the beginning of the war, but it didn't last long, and it was repealed. JJ in Slovakia is still in business. BTW what's a modular amplifier? Do you mean amps like those Randalls that had swappable preamp modules?
marshall CODE amps are also not great. I have a DSL40CR and love that but CODE 50 turned me off budget Marshall amps for a while. Hopefully it will get a redesign.
I haven't heard much good or bad on them so I assumed they were meh. I had an mg for a while and I know a lot of people hated those but it sounded good to me.
modular? do you mean modeling?
Probably like the helix or pod

It's probably cheaper too
@@graysguitars5113 absolutely. About a thousand dollars in parts alone. Still much cheaper and all parts are easily available and replaceable.

Probably mean modeling like you plug it into the computer and there are a bunch of different options can chose to load on it. Like Helix

IMO Marshall has let others kill them when it comes to tube amps. Friedman, Magnatone, Victory, etc have taken their sound and beaten them at it
that's accurate, when guitar amps are so few of your sales they probably care a lot less about them.
Digital sounds good, plays ok but valve is still king for me
Don't care like everyone else Judas Priest for one, I switched to ENGL 15 years ago, I haven't looked back at my 1984 2204 since
