    Roger Gracie is a retired mixed martial arts fighter (MMA) and former professional jiu-jitsu athlete, who is widely regarded as one of the sport’s Greatest Of All Time (GOAT), a reputation conquered on the mats and solidified by his ten (10) International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) World Championship titles as a black belt - four (4) more in the colored belt divisions. One of Gracie’s trademarks was his willingness to commit to the submission, being also one of the most accurate submission specialists at the highest level of grappling of all time.
    Alexandre Ribeiro, commonly known as “Xande” Ribeiro is a legendary jiu-jitsu competitor and one of the founding members of the Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu Association. Under the tutelage of some of the world’s top coaches, including Royler Gracie, Vini Aieta and Xande’s own brother Saulo Ribeiro, Alexandre earned numerous grappling titles, including IBJJF and ADCC World Champion, while earning also the #1 rank in BJJ Heroes’ Top BJJ Competitors of All Time list, up until 2020. Ribeiro also had a short spell fighting in mixed martial arts (MMA) in 2008, competing for the Japanese promotion Sengoku.

    Xande won by surviving. Basically, it's an exploit of rules. It's kind of a shame to celebrate like this as if he won a fight, but in reality Xande just won a survival game.

      Just like he "won" the second one. He "won" that because of a half guard position that didn't lead to anything. What win is that? I kinda lost my respect for Xande after seeing these matches. He just abuses the rules.

    Winning by points or advantages is not winning at all. Submit the guy or you didn't win anything. And I'm not just saying it because Xande "won". Even if Roger was to win it by points or advantages I would still say the same thing. But he doesn't because he's a true honorable fighter and actually goes for submitting in his fights.

    The scoring in ibjjf is so stupid. This is why the sport will never grow and no gi is so much better. No gi surpassed gi years ago. That was not a take down and should not have gotten 2 points for that. So dumb.

      And the advantage for the poorly executed cross collar choke as well. That being said, this was one heck of a match.

      Stupid comment... No Gi matches as ADCC have scores. It's idiotic fashion to criticize kimono competitions. wear your pink rash guard and let live.

      bit of a debate

    • @ryanparkercolour
      @ryanparkercolour 9 месяцев назад +3

      @4:14 from seated guard he had the pants grips and Roger jumped guard so that was 2. Then the controversial is @11:07 with the throw forcing Roger to scramble off his back into turtle position. I guess the logic is that Xande was on top for more than three seconds from 11:10-11:15 even though it wasn’t one definitive secure position but it made Roger establish a guard (turtle) which he immediately got up from but Xande was on top for five seconds after the back counter to the throw failed and in the refs eyes was a takedown.

      @moneyiscool29 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@ryanparkercolourback in the day you didn’t need to hold 3s or stabilize the position, the takedown would count even if the opponent just touched the ground.

    Deve ter sido em outra luta, vi o Roger dizendo que não achou que perdeu porque o Xande amarrou a luta, e não foi isso que vimos aqui nesse vídeo.
