  • In business, 'gender diversity' is often touted as the key to a more equal workplace. But does diversity alone actually mean that women can flourish and thrive? If not, what can companies do to make gender diversity a profitable, as well as ethical, goal? Professor Sucheta Nadkarni is a Professorial Fellow at Newnham College and Director of the Wo+Men's Leadership Centre at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School. Her research centers on strategic leadership, strategic change and competitive dynamics with a specific focus on the strategic implications of CEO personality, TMT personality diversity, dynamics and gender issues in the boards of major companies. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

The diversity-obsession brigade don't really care about the only form of diversity that matters - the diversity of ideas and experiences.
It's much easier instead for them to look at a lineup of candidates and assume that anyone who looks different, must therefore act and think differently.
To them, it's all about what's on the outside, not what's on the inside ... because it's much easier to measure appearances than thoughts and experiences!
