Version 2 of my tutorial on how to overcome El Capitan's hidden expiry date while using Internet Recovery to install it on your Mac. If you have the error message on screen skip to 3:14.
Fixes the "install failed" and "No packages were eligible for install" error while installing macOS El Capitan with Internet Recovery by setting the date back to the year 2014 with a quick Terminal command. PLEASE HAVE A BACKUP BEFORE FOLLOWING THIS PROCEDURE.
One of our viewers (Clinton W Salvato) has a more straightforward solution: "I was able to confirm that Apple has re-issued their installers with new certs: People can get a fresh copy of El Capitan here: support.apple.... It will bring down the OSInstall dmg. Simply run the installer pkg and it will create the installer App in /Applications. Then create boot media as normal, or run the installer as usual to upgrade the machine." I now have a video walking you through this procedure: • Video
