S5 leans towards video, while this leans towards photo and light video. Sony's cameras have the best AF in the industry, while Panasonic's have the worst. While Panasonic's have the best video features in the industry, while Sony's have the worst (though quality is good for what's there).
I expect the A7 IV will get a higher MP sensor, flip screen with the new menu of course and.... will be quite a bit more expensive than the current A7 III...
Can someone explain or justify the price point of this camera? $1,800 USD seems wild. I was a long time Canon user recently switched to Fujifilm and cannot see how this costs that much. Thanks!
Because it doesn't sacrifice an ounce of performance over the A7 III. It, in fact, gains performance. If you've ever edited an A7 III (or Z6 or S1) RAW vs a Fuji RAW, you'd know why it costs this much. Not to mention the AF improvement between systems.
@@melvinbrinson Of course, you get a ton more lenses to use, plus the incredible Techart Pro which lets you AF any lens that's Leica M mount or deeper. And a ton more battery life. So yes, it's what most photo people want: excellent AF, excellent IQ, excellent lens selection.

@ thank you! Where did you hear about ibis?
@@ramifarran in almost every review or preview I think
No. Only the sensor is the same. Has more in common with the A7R IV and A6600.
Kai. GO GET A GO PRO 9. Would love to see your review of it. no exaggeration , simply fantastic. 5k 30, 4k 60, slo mo fast mo by pressing one button, 23 mp sensor with 20 mp RAW stills that look damn good, stabilization better than any "real' camera, as good or even better than a gimbal, front facing screen they stole from DJI Osmo, but so what.....great for vlogs, many other features , interchangeable lenses (that's what i said), and the bugger is only $450 US, or $400 if you get a one year cloud sub. And it fits into your shirt pocket. Only downside I see is no mic input but the inboard mic is pretty damn good. Dont have to jump off a mountain to see its capabilities. can be used as a regular video or stills camera. Marty of Marty Sender RUclips
I am wondering what did he do with his Leica m10-P on this video??
So how does this compare to the S5? Supposedly another accessible compact full-frame...
S5 leans towards video, while this leans towards photo and light video. Sony's cameras have the best AF in the industry, while Panasonic's have the worst. While Panasonic's have the best video features in the industry, while Sony's have the worst (though quality is good for what's there).
@@BlueBomberTurbo I saw AF on this camera, it's evidently worse than that of S5.
@@AoyagiAichou Doubt that's possible with any OSPDAF camera from the past 3 years:

I expect the A7 IV will get a higher MP sensor, flip screen with the new menu of course and.... will be quite a bit more expensive than the current A7 III...
You were right
Good entertainment as always. Thanks for the review Kai
Will this replace Kai's A73?
truly the ultimate vlogging camera
Every media outlet saying smallest full frame camera... which isn’t true. The RX1 is smaller and lighter. Albeit fixed lens.
Where did you get that jacket and pants? Oh yeah...nice impression
Christian Fiore Oh. That’s it?
@@melvinbrinson Of course, you get a ton more lenses to use, plus the incredible Techart Pro which lets you AF any lens that's Leica M mount or deeper. And a ton more battery life. So yes, it's what most photo people want: excellent AF, excellent IQ, excellent lens selection.
What shirt is that?
Anyone noticed a black smudge on right side middle portion??
Does it have catalyst browse software compatibility.
It should, since it has gyroscope data to stabilize footage in post, like other recent Sony video/video-oriented cameras.
@@BlueBomberTurbo it does - watched another video with it being used
I thought C stands for Cheap until I checked the price.
""pull back that hood" - Brilliant
You have dust on your sensor, @Kai W. Half way to the too right corner. 😁
How does one get that Leica T-shirt?
What did you do to the HLG footage? Looks nice
You totally missed the new gyroscope data function in A7C, it help stabilization of video in post production
But this was filmed live, one take, no editing.
@@martydibergi5228 I mean he didn't mention this new inbuilt features (gyroscope data with possible post production stabilization with suitable software) of A7C
That 28-60mm does not compete with Panasonic's 20-60mm at all. Nice and small I like it better than the original kit lens. But still they could've at least made it 24mm
More mm = more size. Size was obviously Sony's #1 goal here.
@@BlueBomberTurbo I get that. But the camera itself was made for vloggers. Not sure how the glass works I have a 18mm samyang lens that's super tiny. I'm sure sony could've engineered a smaller glass
@@nyrubin Here's the thing: you don't HAVE to buy the kit lens with the camera.
@@BlueBomberTurbo lol I have thw rx100v the a7sii and the rx0ii from Sony. I'm a big fan. I'm allowed to be disappointed. Idk who's idea it was to make a camera aimed at Vloggers with 28mm at the wide end lens. But! It was a horrible idea that's something we can BOTH live with lol
@@nyrubin Pretty sure it's not aimed at vloggers. Sony's site only gets into video 2/3 of the way down the product page.
Can you take pictures with it?
Should I upgrade from the original A7R?
Hell yeah that camera lacked most what this camera has but i still wouldn't but the C just get the a7iii
This camera isn't worth the price, buy something else instead
@@SolaSly No other camera under $4500 can match its IQ and AF. Video is the only thing other brands specifically excel at, but the A7 IV isn't far off...
@@BlueBomberTurbo yeah, looks like Sony just dropped their best card on it while crippling other parts. The saddest still the bad ergonomics and not fully touch screen. It's a really tough decision and to each his own. Smh.
@@SolaSly Everything crippled was done in the name of making the camera small, and none of it impacted performance (AF and video stabilization actually IMPROVED!). A TON of people have been wishing for a compact A7 camera, and here it is, even better than the A7 III it shares a sensor (and not much else) with.
4:30 so, Lok got an upgrade and now looks different?
is there some pancake lens for this?
When will the A7IV come out tho..
