But its true that I die on stage 1 more often than any other survivor. Mercenary has a harder time early game than most. However. And this is a big however. I almost exclusively play multiplayer, usually with a commando, loader, and an engineer. So typically loader and I focus on the boss while commando cleans up enemies and engi has base camp. Edit: it does suck that you have to use specials to kill everything, but his cool down is pretty short.
Merc mains trying to tell you their character requires the most skill to use (they can stack lysate cells or hardlight afterburners to get more charges with their two abilities that make them invulnerable)
anyone who think mercenary is hard just have got skill issue and don't know that eviscerate is your "oh shit" key. in any hard situation - r + shift is your way to go.

railgunner always has a crowbar and just moves really quickly to the enemy, whacks it, and then comes back

Yeah, 0:15 is dead accurate to me. Either my Artificer runs end on stage 1 or I go the full epic-level DnD wizard kind of broken.
