They truly were fantastic, and here's a quick fact: The rider seems to be a Cossack, and the Cossacks are a group of people that live in Ukraine and Russia. They're also descendants of the Mongols, thus resulting in the skills they historically have with horses.
Don't write stupid nationalistic propaganda. Cossacks were a mix of turcic nomads and russian wild warriors and outlaws, it`s a fact. Russian cossacks cannot be a branch of ucrainians, because cossacks in Ryazan and Volga were known much earlier then Zaporizhians.
You have lots of spiritual warriors sending love and prayers to all the Ukrainian warriors. They are not alone. We daily bring your cause before our friends and family and encourage our gov't to offer worthwhile aid. Our prayers, phone calls, fundraising and letters are with you. Some have even gone to help with the fight. "As water is stronger than rock, so is love stronger than hate. And isn't it glorious to know these beautiful warriors were not wiped out by stalin and live to ride another day!
I've lived in Ukraine for many years and recognized the Cossack and the scenery immediately. Brings tears to my eyes. We will live to see the evil monsters from the north put in their place. 💙💛💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 💙💛💙💛
I really tried to like it but I listen to them for the folk side and just wasn't feeling this change. Good on them for taking a different move though. :)
In my opinion the banjo represents his stamp of identity, the air folk that emanate his past songs was something different and worth admiring; Now for me, is a very good group, but like many others
The Cossack imagery is so remarkable. Becoming one with the horse, gaining its love and trust. The ending gallop is exhilarating and beautiful. Perfect match to the music and lyrics.
I came to this song rather late, but once I heard it on the radio, I said: "Yup." It so neatly encapsulated a certain relationship for me and I think I bought it on iTunes immediately and then proceeded to become a little obsessed with it.
I’ve wanted to leave this comment for a while. I’m Ukrainian - my family fled from Lviv in WWII. My great grandfather was a Kozak. He would go to Mongolia to get Arabian horses for the Ukrainian army. They truly are the most incredible horsemen. This video is one i would show my grandmother with dementia and she would cry every time she watched - this embodies Ukrainians so much - love of nature and god. Thank you for this. Much love from NYC ❤️ Kalyna
+sj29 can you tell me what they played and how amazing it was please! I'm going to see them on August 17th and I just can't wait any longer to hear what they are going to play!
+TheTehpwnshow My husband doesn't usually like them and he's a drummer.... when he heard this song, he said "The drums are awesome....I think I now like M&S" :D
+Gonzalo Sanchez I think the drums are mastered to stand out more than other songs and maybe that's why they sound good. I'm also thinking not very complex but they do sound quite nice.
Beautiful and emotional song! Thank you very much! I`m Ukrainian and it was a real pleasure to see the Cossack in the video clip such a great band as you are!!!
Oh, these boys have meant the world to me the past four years...gave me new friends, gave me solace, sent me a'travelling over the ocean with their songs in my heart. Whatever the instruments they use might be, that engine, that horsepower shared between them, it's its own kind of magic. This video is a glorious representation of that.
as a horse trainer i dont normally see videos showing horses this way. Training a horse is not violent or forceful in any way and love how when the man makes a mistake and pushed the horse to fast under saddle and get thrown he dosnt get mad at the horse but tries it again. also that was some great trick riding at the end all in all this video made me smile.
They made two videos I can't resist, this one and Lover of the Light. And what shatters in me while I watch Lover of the Light, becomes whole while I watch Ditmas. This is art.
Just listen to the lyrics. And let the music move through the soul, you will realise that they wrote the song about their change and growth into a different sound of music and leaving their past selves and Banjo. Just because Mumford and sons has grown we should help them grow and support them with their new selves.
I fucking love them, more now because I got to see them live in Colorado and this was the song Marcus came down from the stage and ran around, then fucking hugged me. Dream come true.
One of the few bands that has the power to surpass all. Their music just gets better and better. They don't disappoint. But ditmas is so powerful especially for people who have gone thru what their saying. I am always amazed at the talent of this band!!! You guys are the best!!!!
I swear mumford and sons is by far the best mainstream band out there. even though their best songs never make it to the radio, they are one of the verryyyyyyyy few good bands that gets played on the radio right now
Спасибі вам хлопці, за красивий кліп, за хорошу музику - мені дуже сподобалося. А найголовніше величезна вам подяка за те що ви нас підтримуєте! Для нас це дуже важливо !!! Слава Україні. Thank you guys for a nice clip for good music - I really enjoyed it. And most importantly huge thanks to you for what you have supported! For us it is very important !!! Glory for Ukraine.
Дуже вам дякую! Це надзвичайно гарна пісня, а відео аж за душу взяло. Ви молодці! Thank you very much! It's an incredible song, and the video is very touching. You're great, guys!
I forever love Mumford & Sons. Favorite band ever. They've been with me through all the highs and the lows. Depression in highschool, the death of my grandfather in college, 2 of my worst heartaches, and most importantly, the triumph of overcoming each and every single one of those hardships to become a stronger person even now. I admit I was worried about this new album taking a new direction, but lucky for me I get to see them, grow as a band and individuals. M&S your words and instruments will always be a part of who I was, am and will be.
This song came out when I was going through my divorce and it helped me tremendously! I listened to it on repeat so much! And now it is a reminder to me of how much I have overcome!!
Yes. I had this feeling like....as soon as the video ended I had to put Sigh Mo More on to reset my ears. I support a growing and changing artist, these obviously are super talented and amazing writers, musicians and performers but the song coming from them seems off for me. This is a great song for so many other bands, but coming from M&S, it doesn’t feel authentic. I like this, I just so much prefer the sound from their first two albums. But you can’t shuck and jive the same dance forever. This is a natural progression as is the same with nearly all artists. Things change. Better or for worse, but change always is the constant. And good for them because they’re Mumford & Sons and can do whatever the fuck they want to. My opinion reserved for my own or not.
The reason why I love these guys so much is because they poor their minds, bodies and souls into their work. It truly shows. Every song I've listened to tells a story. But not just any story. It's a story I can feel deep within me and see through their perspective. Their work brings life to how music should be. Cheers mates; job well done.
I thank Mumford and Sons with the deepest warm heart; the spirit, power and passion of the free Ukrainian Cossacks is majestically portrayed. People unite and remain faithful Ukraine will prosper thanks to true Cossacks and beautiful music, a people will never be broken merely strengthened and so in these harsh times we can only proudly say GLORY TO UKRAINE god bless.
There no band like them in the world so far ahead of the rest. See them live at the o2 a few years ago off to see them again in November 2018 . There music has so much soul and meaning .GOAT!!
thank you Mumford and sons for coming to walla walla. you gave a shout out to all from walla walla and not from. though nothing of the people who are. which is all good but if you embrace the native American people, know we will do the same. exchange of culture is always beautiful
So as they played this song during a performance in The Woodlands, TX, Marcus started running all over the pavilion and giving high fives to people without any interruptions to the song. The definition of a boss right there.
CAN PEOPLE JUST STOP HATING ON THEM BECAUSE OF THEIR NEW SOUND? Honestly this has been their best album yet, not my favorite (sigh no more), but their best. If you don't like their new stuff, don't listen to it! Let them do what they want
+Bring Me The MCR I wonder with which basis you say that. If it's not their best in your personal opinion, and it is not their best album in the critics opinion, then who, with enough relevance, said that this albums is their best? This is not even a good album.
I first listened to this song in 2017. I was a freshman in high school and I had a group of friends who I thought I'd be lifelong friends with :))) Now, seven years on, out of that group only three of us remain close. This song is so nostalgic and bittersweet to me, it will never not make me think of the former friends I lost along the way.
Your first two albums were utterly brilliant. I have never seen a band pull off so successfully this poise, sophistication, and emotion in music. Yet there was always a step I felt like you couldn't take in your music. It was as if you were still trying to find your sound even as you paved a path of unprecedented musicality. Then Wilder Mind came out. And this, I believe, is the step you were trying to take. What before conveyed near perfection swallowed by a few seconds of perfection in each song, now floods every single second of Wilder Mind. Each song declares a separate message so well, and it all contains the perfect culmination of cleanliness and recklessness. I don't know how you discovered your sound, but I do know I am wholly grateful you did. You literally saved my life.
Only discovered this song right now 😮 DAMM It's so good.. The power of the singers and emotions i feel from them..! Cant even explain how moved by the song i am!
#MUMFORDANDSONS #WILDERMIND He's a master horseman. He knows how to calm and comfort the beast. Animals like humans respond to kindness and tenderness. You just have to gain their trust first 🎸🥁🎹🪗🎻🎸💚💙🧡💖💜💛❤️
Never losing faith in you guys. You'll be with me the rest of my life.
I feel you Bro, same for me
Agree!! Amazing video !
Completly agreed! I just love this guys so fucking much!
Agreed😝
RT Geary I feel the same way.
Banjo or no banjo, they're still Mumford & sons and they're still fucking awesome.
I agree, but I do hope they make more music WITH the banjo. I love them either way:)
YES MATEEEEEEEEE
i love without banjo more
real voices and real instruments. beautiful!!!
Totally agree
i just fucking love this album too much. it's so goddamn real and honest and he's practically spitting out his tears and blood in my ears.
ikr
awesome way to put it this band is great
That's discusting...but true
This my Cat All their albums are.
this is my big mood
Can we all just give it up for the rider and the horse?! They were stunning!

Denis Slipchenko Нет, Вятичи - это славяне. В отличие от вас, "чорнобровых" печенегов :)
I would have never expected a Cossack (a Ukrainian warrior) to be in a Mumford & Sons video! That warms my heart to see my culture represented :)
You have lots of spiritual warriors sending love and prayers to all the Ukrainian warriors. They are not alone. and so I cry
as I hold you for the last time in this life
this life I tried so hard to give to you
what would you have me do
My favorite part.
Such a hard-hitting powerful verse
Still hitting hard this one
I woke up with the song in my head. Love these guys
How do people not like this album? Because they don't have the banjo or whatever? Seriously, these guys are amazing
Cate Wilson People just like the original folk better. I like the rock and pop of this one, but I play the folk better on my acoustic.
I really tried to like it but I listen to them for the folk side and just wasn't feeling this change. Good on them for taking a different move though. :)
Amazing!
all right.. I love it..
In my opinion the banjo represents his stamp of identity, the air folk that emanate his past songs was something different and worth admiring;
Now for me, is a very good group, but like many others
The Cossack imagery is so remarkable. Becoming one with the horse, gaining its love and trust. The ending gallop is exhilarating and beautiful. Perfect match to the music and lyrics.
i love how mumford & sons lyrics can explain everything so easily
Every single word...
I came to this song rather late, but once I heard it on the radio, I said: "Yup." It so neatly encapsulated a certain relationship for me and I think I bought it on iTunes immediately and then proceeded to become a little obsessed with it.
Same for me... Word for word
Everything, so true
At 2:01 it just blows me away ..
"Where I used to end was where you start
You were the only one :'( "
shit the whole song is that feeling for me
Don't cry !
A hug to you :)
the lyric just stabs my heart :(
I feel like that lyric created a sonic boom

One of my fav songs from the new album. Love Mumford and Sons!!! Banjo or no banjo
Nick P Same! I saw them 2 weeks ago and it was amazing!
+sj29 can you tell me what they played and how amazing it was please! I'm going to see them on August 17th and I just can't wait any longer to hear what they are going to play!
I saw them 3 times: stopover in Ontario. Toronto secret show, Niagara on the lake.
Honestly the best! I loved every second of it
rockberry123 I will be at that show too! sooo excited
Great images of a powerful yet gentle Ukrainian Kozak! Very nicely done. good song too!
super! ми діти козацького роду!
Характерник.
Це сила України
I fucking love the drums on this song
+TheTehpwnshow me too :)
+TheTehpwnshow "nnaaahhh i hate the new style of mumford gna gna" pfff they understand nothing. and probably they are fan of the killers too.
+TheTehpwnshow My husband doesn't usually like them and he's a drummer.... when he heard this song, he said "The drums are awesome....I think I now like M&S" :D
Come on.. I'm a drummer and even I like this song, this drums are pretty basic... even a computer can do it... Don't overreact
+Gonzalo Sanchez I think the drums are mastered to stand out more than other songs and maybe that's why they sound good. I'm also thinking not very complex but they do sound quite nice.
My favourite from the album !
Mine too!
Same(:
RossRFCFan Same as well
same; 3
+RossRFCFan Try; Tompkins Square Park, Wilder Mind, Snake Eyes and Hot Gates. This one is slowly becoming a favourite for me as well!
Top song of this century...
Beautiful and emotional song! Thank you very much! I`m Ukrainian and it was a real pleasure to see the Cossack in the video clip such a great band as you are!!!
I forgot about this song for almost an year and it just popped in my head, never losing it again
I don't care if they don't use banjo anymore, they are always fantastic.
Keep doing these beautiful works!
Thank you, guys, for showing the world a piece of our unique Ukrainian culture and for your beautiful music of course! Wish you an inspiration!
From a sixties rocker the melody, drums, keyboard and lyrics are powerful. Great tune even a 71 yr old can enjoy :) great musicians
That is awesome, rock on!
as a horse trainer i dont normally see videos showing horses this way. I remember listening to this song back in 2015 . Man it's so memorable listening to it again cause it reminds me of those times back in the days
They made two videos I can't resist, this one and Lover of the Light. And what shatters in me while I watch Lover of the Light, becomes whole while I watch Ditmas. This is art.
One of the best songs of Mumford, for sure!
Great sound, great band. They've matured so nicely throughout the years. 😊
I went to their concert yesterday!!! Literally best day of my life!!
saw em too about two months ago, epic
ĺp09900
Can't wait to see them at ACL!
De casualidad el concierto fue en latinoamerica? I went to their concert , in april this year! T.T IT WAS FUCKING EPIC
liz marquez no ): fue en Praga pero yo soy latinoamericana
I just adore this video showing the bond between a horse and a man - fantastic way of showing the way Kozaks ride!!!- fantastic... song is amaizing
Just listen to the lyrics. Dove c'è un Cavallo c'è laLibertà, dove sono i Mumford & Sons c'è la Musica. W la Libertà! W la Musica!
I watch this (and of course, listen) over & over. Cannot get enough of it!
u r certainly not in minority

Thank you for the beautiful song and video!
his opening voice is perfection. The whole album is so goood
They have done amazing to get from country to rock!!
+Trigger Happy Bunnies Totally agree with you!!
Technically it's folk :) and they were originally rock.
I swear mumford and sons is by far the best mainstream band out there. even though their best songs never make it to the radio, they are one of the verryyyyyyyy few good bands that gets played on the radio right now
Mumford and Sons helped me learn what Passion was. All of their albums are timeless and will have a place in my heart.
This Song and his Video are Wonderful...i love the feeling between him and the Horse in the End...Is Magic

Андрей Иванченко Кто вас поддерживает??? Проснись, им на вас НАПЛЕВАТЬ!!!
Cvet Maya

Cvet Maya Донской?! АХАХАХАХ ЭТО ЗАПОРОЖСКИЙ

This song is amazing but when he says “so I cry as I hold you for the last time in this life” 🥲
Дуже вам дякую!
Ah the beautiful love between a man and his horse
This song came out when I was going through my divorce and it helped me tremendously! I listened to it on repeat so much! And now it is a reminder to me of how much I have overcome!!
Banjo or violin, harmonica, piano... the question does the song move you? That's what matters most...did you feel something?
I think no matter what instruments they play with they still will always be good :)
Yes. I felt something. Everything.
This is an insanely beautiful song. To me, nothing has changed, they are still the talented men they were when Babel was released.
This video is absolutely gorgeous! The colours are beautiful (and so are the band members😉)
The reason why I love these guys so much is because they poor their minds, bodies and souls into their work. It truly shows. Every song I've listened to tells a story. But not just any story. It's a story I can feel deep within me and see through their perspective. Their work brings life to how music should be. Cheers mates; job well done.
I can't even explain why but I love this video so much!! Gives me chills every time!!
Same
Pure art. I love this so much I want to cry and laugh and smile and dance. So many emotions
This song is just kickass good!
Singer is so so so so so so handsome😍love the lyrics!
Greetings from Ukraine - and thank you for this beautiful VIDEO!
Pika!!!!
Long live the Grand Duchy!
tell ur bitches to stop playing games
Maypotim your what?
Pika pika chew?
This song absolutely captures the anger, hurt, helplessness, lashing back, bargaining, petty point-making, and sorrow of a break-up.
Потужна пісня!
Приємно бачити українських козаків у британському відео.
I thank Mumford and Sons with the deepest warm heart; the spirit, power and passion of the free Ukrainian Cossacks is majestically portrayed. Nice music ! Nice movie !
Thanx to Mumford & Sons !

GREAT SONG! And it works really well in they live shows
My son and I went to the show in Milwaukee...front row seats. I was so impressed and had an awesome time...so did my son!

I meant in my opinion, I'm sorry
What I meant was best in production but just my opinion
Wilder Mind is my favorite album! But I like all their albums, this one has just touched me the most :)
those keys in the end get me every time
Beautiful. Kozackomu rodu nemaje perevodu!
Thank you from Ukraine!
Doesn't matter how many times i listen it.. it still sound so new aur authentic.. what a song man.m
Beautiful video 👍

Beautiful!!
"A life lived much too fast to hold on to" my absolute favorite lyrics of this song
