I plan on joining the US Public Health Service after I graduate nurse practitioner school in December

Did not even know this was a uniformed service until this week.
Is HHS officer different than commissioned office? Im confused. Will i be an officer if i Join HHS

The USPHS falls under the Umbrella of HHS along with other government agencies.
Commission is affiliated with Dept of Education or Defense when Human Services is affiliated with Dept of Justice and the Congress. That's my understanding. I'm a civilian patient.
Either commissioned or not, you'll be addressed as an Officer regardless.
You all need to be allowed firearms. Congress banned it in late 1800's and Public Health has been declining ever since.
