I like the idea, but your bolt is not long enough to be using a lock nut. The threads need to go all the way through the nylon portion of the nut. Instead, I recommend drilling a hole through the end of the bolt (about a quarter inch from the end), then use a castle nut and cotter pin to lock it in place. But, I really like the idea. I can see myself doing it to my trailer this coming fishing season.
Good job! I'll be using that. Maybe the same, maybe I'll attempt to improve on it. There's some "Legends in their own minds" showing up to poopoo it. They should take their Self Importance and move along. Nobody needs that.
A longer bolt and tighten the nut against another nut would leave room for the wheels to spin on the axle. You could also put 1/2" pipe or all thread into the T and a handle on the other end of it to pull and change direction easily.
