I work on a big project made with WinForms for more than a decade. It’s heavily make use of third part library (DevExpress) it’s a shame that WinForms teams is taking too much longer to make the full designer compatibility. I’d say that is even unacceptable.
I'd love it if the Winforms designer team could make a blog post about the current gaps and timeline to correct them. It's almost impossible to use the .NET 5 designer aside from really simple cases which makes any attempt to port to .NET 5 a futile endeavor.
