That was very interesting. I've only every used the pitot tube (many years ago) and, in reality it's almost impossible the ensure that the probe is pointing directly into the air-stream. I can understand why the 'hot wire' device is better. Thank you for comparing these.

This can be used for HVCA and LEV.
The number of measurements is based on duct size. See a commissioning guide.

It is recommended that you be at least 7 duct diameters downstream and at least 3 duct diameters upstream of any obstructions or turns. These are universally accepted methods for determining where a duct traverse should occur to provide the best chance for a laminar flow.
Please refer to the Alnor HVAC Handbook, Appendix A, for more detailed information on a Duct traverse procedure. Thank you.

Can you please give instructions on how to set up the Velocicalc software before capturing measurements on a 90-120 CFM Biological Safety Cabinet?

The procedures in this video are in regard to HVAC Duct Traverses, though other Duct Traverse applications may also benefit from this procedure as well.
5 and 10 seconds are very common sample times, but which is appropriate depends on your environment. For example, if you are sampling from a flow with a greater amount of turbulence, then a longer sample time may be needed.

Have you ever thought of adding levels to the probe? Maybe on the handle? Sometimes it is very hard to get into position where you can visually verify you are holding the probe level. This would help eliminate some human error.

if I'm having a duct which is 1 metre by 0.8 metre, how do I know how much holes and reading points I'm going to perform?

Hi, can you confirm this is HVAC system and not a LEV?
3:46: will 5 second measurement per point is enough?
Do we need 3 diameter distance from the branch?
