At 61, I am not getting older, I am only getting started.
I'm 48. In the same boat.
@@Welcometofacsistube Exactly. I don't want to grow up, I'm a Toys R Us kid like forever......
Gang
Hell yeah brother.🤠 /sister
We’re all getting older. Don’t lie to yourself.
I'm almost 60. 5 years ago, I took JBP's advice to "tell the truth, and whatever happens happens." Man, I tell you, it was the scariest thing I ever did, and I've been bungee jumping. I did it in small doses at first until I grew stronger and bolder. I wish I did this 30 years ago.
same age (60) - doing it from infancy and feel grate even in a worst "life storm" 🙏🙏🙏
I spoke my truth to a high level manager and lost my job, consequently I saved my life because I had the time to pay proper attention to my physical health, not only because I literally had more time, but because I had spoken up for myself and my psyche began to orient towards nurturing myself better. It turned out that I was in need of rather urgent surgery and medical treatment and I'm happy to say I'm out the other end alive and well as far as anyone can tell at this point. Lesson learnt! Take care of yourself first because no one else will unless it's their vocation to do so, and they're the people who you can rely on in your time of need. Dedicated professionals like JP here, who have committed to helping others. 🙏💙
spiritual and moral health is even more important than physical 🙏🙏🙏
@@user-yr6de4ht2r not really because you don't have spiritual health if you're dead
"you don't actually exist until you have your own words" - "may your song always be sung" bob Dylan
”Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight.“
Proverbs 3:5-6 NET
I don't mind being a puppet for my God and Saviour. "A man can only have what he's given from above" - spoken through John the baptist by the Holy Spirit.
John the Baptist was a man not a god. As was Paul who wrote most of the New Testament and Moses who wrote the Pentateuch, both bodies of work selected out of many that were discarded, copied and recopied by men who didn't want the common people to learn to read and think for themselves. Anyone can claim they're a channel for the holy spirit thus anything you quote from the bible penned by men, must be taken with a grain of salt. For example Paul was a man who admonished women to keep quiet and go home and ask their husbands rather than speaking up in the congregation. Obviously he was influenced by the attitudes of his origins, of the Jews who like Muslims treated women lower than their dogs sometimes. Jesus on the other hand was said to have talked in public with prostitutes and even though Paul wrote the account he didn't seem to get the point of the actions of this prophet of his day because he was only human.... In the old testament Ezra supposedly sent away wives and children into the desert (to die at the hands of wild animals thirst and dangerous men), so they could win a war. He, according to Moses who wrote the account, was instructed to do so after consulting with God.... !!!! Yeah that's why you can't base your words on a group of texts penned and copied by men to suit their needs.
I assure you I will read from now on taking your reading list as reference, you know I owe you my will to live Dr.
For me there's no bigger master than Dr. Jordan B. Peterson 🙏🏻
Agree, I’m 64 and a stagnant infant and I can’t stand it. I’m afraid I won’t be able to tolerate these books. I’m also afraid if I don’t read them, I will be unhappy with myself.
Listen to audiobooks to start
@@brentgould958 thank you I will try
I think Ayn Rand should be on that reading list. I've only read pieces of the suggested authors but Rand's objectivism captured a raw need to understand the structure of the current world and justify my desire of self worth and pride.
JBP says he rereads Atlas Shrugged every 10 years or so, so fair enough.
I think the Spirit within us is just like a child, innocent and appreciative. I honestly understand what you're saying as far as knowing what can happen in life when it's been exposed in years gone by. We don't want to be fools but if I keep looking behind me in the past there I am fearful not in the moment of Now. Shouldn't I instead look where I am going in childlike innocence and compassion ?
Re: stagnant at 40. I am 37 and have spent the past few years trying to piece things together from CSA, and the aftereffects of that. It is hard to not feel like the past 30 years have been wasted.
Please pardon my ignorance of the acronym CSA, for it's understanding is not included in what I am about to say.
Wasted or you will now have understanding, reason and resolve inside before anyone that would scoff at our character that you know inside you can be; no one is self-made, but one can be self determined. I am but a few years behind you and may I say "Your perception determines your reality."
Hope this helped.
yea i say you are right but what happens from now on is what counts. Lets turn this hell into just a tragedy and that is a good aim. Once the hell is conteined and its just a tragedy then we can move on more towards the light . So like Dr.Pete here says , onwards and upwards soldier ! Lets get behind Jesus Christ on that mountain we suppose to climb
also know you are not alone brother , there is more of us that have their past wasted just like you
Your life isnt over. You exist. There is always time to change while you exist. The past is the journey that got you there. Keep going! It is about the journey.
I appreciate the kind words. But there are some things that just can't be changed. The chance for me to have a family, for example, is largely gone. That doesn't mean something good cannot happen, but what I would have wanted cannot.
(CSA is childhood sexual abuse)
Without exaggeration the first half of this clip is just striking like lightning. ❤
SO good. I would love JP doing more videos like this now. In fact, the "low quality" or messy room highlights the quality of the message
I have benefitted a lot from your reading list. It has been a great education. Thank you!
Speak the truth to God and those you wish to free... Lie to the devils that believe themselves God. Especially when the morsel is the foundation of their slander and reason for justifying their exploitation and cruelty....
Why should you lie to devils?

Thanks Jordan !
Thank you for this.
Maybe I just have a more pessimistic view of human nature, but I think most people will err on the side of consequentialism if they believe lying can result in some form of personal gain. Those with the moral integrity to remain consistent regardless of the perceived outcome are rare, imo.
Jesus said" every penny will be paid " In this existence or the next, we never get away with anything. ❤✝
You're not wrong. It's hard to stick to telling the truth if you're not receiving a good outcome.
Love this video, and agree with your list, however I've found it useful to add poets to that list such as William Wordsworth, Coleridge, Byron and Whitman. Then I think it's more balanced to give you insights into people but also the power of nature on the soul.
what does this matter in a world full of lies
That you are not alone in your pain from lies and untruths.
@@ernestcote3398 thank u 🤍
When you tell the truth you get called a misogynist.
Thank you
One former politician believed that whatever he said at the moment was the truth, and if he said something later that was at variance with what he'd previously said...well, that was also the truth; the truth was whatever came out of his mouth, however contradictory. Transitory truth is no truth at all. He remains popular to this day.

like they always says. Ignorance is bliss.
and this is why the most happies person are the ignorant people.
The more knowledgeable you are the more you feel unhappy, specially if you grow up watching Disney princesses of some sort.
you start to understand you existence is nothing is this universe. and the more you go deep into the rabbit hole of geopolitics and how humanity had been progressing for the past centuries you will feel a mixed emotions of excitement and disappointment.
Spot on! Yes, the mighty Russian authors, indeed!
There is not one human worth lying....not one of you. None.
Having multiple reasons for doing something isn't wrong, as long as it's held to the same rules of a proof in geometry. Except...sometimes there are no good choices.
A truth.. the bulk were forcefully mutated just the wolf/dog, goat, pig horse etc.. sit with that for a while. Mutated to specialized functions. By ancient fellow humans.
I’ve lost many people by speaking the truth no matter how composed I was I telling and speaking it. I don’t know if this is a good thing?
I’m very curious as to his opinion on LEO lying in the course of their duty to issue citations, make arrests, extract confessions, and what have you. Machiavelli for example would argue that the end, in this case among others lying, justifies the means.
Reading list:
HOLY BIBLE
The challenge of finding your own words is exacerbated by generative AI. GPT and Copilot is killing trust and making a liar out of all of us.
I been walking off that cliff for decades, mixed results / yours may vary / no guarantees; but it's the only way to be.🤠
I would add Machiavelli and Sun Tzu on the reading list.
Oh, and the Epic of Gilgamesh.
Thanks for honoring freedom of speech.
According to everyone that believes in a creator ... the truth is that the universe was at one time created. Yet there isn't any proof that the unscientific story is true.
From the book ... The Use and Misuse of Language … edited by S. I. Hayakawa … first published 1943.
If there is one thing certain, the truth will not be caught once and for all in a net of words alone, nor does it like to be imprisoned in theory; it is much too fond of its liberty.
What if you obscure the truth to protect yourself or your family ?
They say, “The truth will set you free!”
(…and, then you become a slave to that truth…)
I have served too many masters…
(I don’t know how else to find the truth.)
Buddhism said, “Peace inside first!”…and, “Use this until you don’t need this.”
I think Judaism is for our inner child, Christianity is adolescence, and Islam is for the adult in all of us.

I remember hearing a lot about the “Snow White” stuff…I wonder, how are them other fairy tales coming along?

Reading list should include the Bible
Speaking the truth is sound. Also known as honesty 🤔 ... but there is the initial condition to first, if it is to be constructive:
the spirit in which it is done, or as the apostle Paul writes, "speaking the truth in [a spirit of] love". I have heard it said that speaking the truth without that is only to speak judgment/condemnation, which is not a generally helpful tone of voice.
... and then there are all the complications of metaphor to describe the ways we are generally less than forthrightly honest - the "knots of 'nuance' accreted within the often fog of 'white lies', the euphemisms of ironic disingenuity or understatement, rationalised on whatever pretext". And the like.
Pretentious word for all of which is semiotics technically speaking, perhaps
... the understandings of which vary considerably across cultures, & most of it has become unwitting by adulthood: shared, taken as read & understood about the way we roll locally:
'The older fish asked the younger fish, "How's the water?" To which the younger fish reply, "What's 'water'?' " '
When do you know (when and just how much) it is helpful to directly, bluntly honest? Or is it a guaranteed way to lose friends and alienate people, no matter with how much goodwill you were truly honest at first?

Russian is the language of the soul ... self-proclaimed. The truth is we humans unfortunately are tricked into thinking that missed opportunity is the WORST thing that can happen, other than slavery or death. Freedom to choose makes us slaves to those choices. Truth is independent of choice. It must be. Trust is easy to break and difficult to form. So, who do we truly trust? When it comes to loss of that freedom, I believe the numbers are very few ... to nearly ONE. Seek the ONE!
the Russians also produced Joe Stalin !
You can't say whatever you want at work. You're going to get fired. So I disagree with you about telling the truth. People want you to lie. That's all I have to say. or at least act like nothing happened. That's why I hate California.
I only tell the truth to stand up for myself, so maybe that's what it's good for.
There is à différence between telling the truth...(when necessary)....or remain silent( if it means youre going to keep your job a little longer until you can change 😊
