Ultimate Warrior had something so many people today just don't have. Despite how goofy the whole thing was, and how little sense he made, the one thing I believed is that he gave a fuck. Yeah, I have no idea why the hell he talked about hijacking a plane Hogan was on and crashing it into an Island, killing the Pilot in the process, but I believed he wanted to beat Hogan in that match.
Thank you Jason for pointing out the difference between someone being a technical worker and a good worker. We have a whole generation of fans now that think being a good worker means you do with thousand moves in a match. That’s not what being a good worker is. Hogan was a good worker. Technically sound no but you didn’t expect big guys to be wrestling like Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels in the 80s. I like Jim Cornett, he’s one of my favorite people in the wrestling business but it’s kind of his fault the reason why people think this way. Ever since he did that shoot interview where he said Kevin Nash only had six moves everyone that’s gotten into the business after that thinks that to be a great worker you have to do 1000 moves. Now we have guys that do a thousand moves But they don’t know how to work worth a fuck. They should be Olympic divers today not pro wrestlers
Met Warrior about a decade ago in either 2010 or 2011 when he was speaking at my college. While he did sound like a raging Tradcon lolcow ("Big L" Libertarians like us tend to mock both sides), he was a genuinely cool person even towards those who disagreed with his opinions. He actually said he regretted his "queering doesn't make the world work" rant in his talk. I did like how the DSOR episode highlighted him apologizing to everyone he knew he did wrong like Jake Roberts. Warrior did seem like he felt guilty about the shitty things he did when he was wrestling and boy there are many. Despite it all, I was a Warrior fanboy when I was a kid and as an adult I think he was fighting a number of insecurities and his crazy Tradcon rants served as an outlet. I don't think he was too happy during the last decade or so of his life which kinda sucks. We can talk bad about Warrior all we want but he left us too soon. Even if he DID think he wasn't gonna last long
I would never call those rants traditional conservative......more like Far Right Nationalist. Most "Tradcons" aren't gonna bring race into the picture like a FR-WN would.
57:32 Let us not forget those other horrible things he said like Warrior once referred to Droz as "The cripple" & It's that time he actively mocked the people in Louisiana after they got hit by Hurricane Katrina
Yeah, I remember he tried to play it off like he was just talking about the big groups looting stores for stuff other than food/necessities, but he DEFINITELY brought up "black skinned boys" specifically, making his whole defense horseshit.
There’s just so many instances where his true personality shows he wasn’t a good dude. So maybe he lashed out because he has mental health problems but hard to give him any benefit of the doubt when you see just how many examples of him just being scummy.
I’ll be honest, I was kinda disappointed with this. This should’ve been two hours with all the material Warrior had said and done. Plus the bizarre about face at the end was a little jarring
Find it kinda hard to believe that a guy that loved posting on his blog didn't think to make an apologetic post about his bigoted comments in the past. Just easier to believe that Dana is trying to paint her husband in a better light than many people remember
IF she wanted to paint her husband in a better light, she never owuld have mentioned the comments at all. The fact she addressed them head on while DSotR ignored them tells who really did the better job.
I know that this match would not rate well on the Dave Meltzer star scale, but my favorite Ultimate Warrior match was his match against the Honky Tonk Man for the IC Title at Summerslam. At the same time, a problem with the Ultimate Warrior as Champion was the fact that the WWE at the time wrote themselves into a corner with the character once he won the title. The Ultimate Warrior not only won all the time, he won in such a way that nobody else stood a chance against him. He beat Andre the Giant in 30 seconds. Both him and Hulk Hogan convincingly defeated all the heels in the organization at the time. He never showed vulnerability until he wrestled the Undertaker after he lost the title. It is hard to draw money if nobody buys into the fact that he can be beaten.
Macho and the Warrior were perfect for each other. No-one was as dramatic and colourful as Macho, other that Warrior and there was no-one as intense as the Warrior, other than Savage! Warrior, for all his faults was quite the spectacle!
@@TheSolomonster I remember going on his blog many years ago when I heard about that incident and holy shit! It was unforgivably offensive even by the standards back then, and I'm honestly surprised that Warrior never got the full cancel treatment when WWE started parading his legacy around. Speaking of The Ultimate Warrior, is the DVD 'The Self-Destruction Of The Ultimate Warrior' still available to watch on the WWE Network?... I would imagine so. To be fair, I don't have the WWE Network, so, I'm just asking out of curiosity.
The 2 babyface vs babyface matches that stood out from my childhood were Warrior vs Hogan at WrestleMania Vl & The Steiners vs Sting/Luger at SuperBrawl 1991
I love Jim Cornette but the way he's constantly burying a dead man, father and husband is absolutely disgusting. He doesn't even bury Benoit like this. He has nothing bad to say about Stone Cold when he's a habitual wife beater.
Warrior didn't kiss cornette's ass (or any one else's ass) and Cornette can't get over it. Also, Cornette doesn't care if you are a dirtbag as long as you are a "good wrestler".
Warrior in 1992 had to have shed at least 30-40 lbs of roid muscle. People thought that Jim Hellwig died and Kerry Von Erich was in the face paint due to how noticeable it was. Hogan went from Greek god to balding hot dog between 1989 and 1993.
@ 25:00 - Vince may have said that he's a glutton for punishment, but really, if he kept going back, it's obvious that Warrior wasn't that difficult. Just like how they lied about Summer Slam.
Have you watched any of Warrior's solo interviews? Heard any other guy's shoot-interviews about him? The guy has a neon sign hanging from his face that says, "I'm difficult to deal with"......literally.
On _The Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior_ DVD from years ago Sgt. Slaughter was the one who brought up Hogan suggesting breaking the Warrior's leg. The way Slaughter tells it Hogan was the one pushing Vince to let them "break his leg" and then in the very next segment Hogan coyly confirms this referring to it as "old school". I normally take Hogan stories with a big pinch of salt, but given that Sgt. Slaughter was the one who brought up that story I'm more inclined to believe it was true. Amusingly, when Warrior took them to court over it Hogan denied ever having said that. Despite there being VIDEO FOOTAGE OF HIM SAYING IT.
Not much of a Warrior fan, but WWE’s tribute video for him was one of their best next to their Dusty Rhodes tribute. What a ending to his career. You couldn’t script it any better.
Thinking about it now I'm almost positive Dark side of the ring could have maybe done 2 hours instead of only one I did see the documentary on A and E and I thought it was pretty good.
I always wondered what would have happened if Warrior went to ECW and did more than just a squash match since he mentioned it in a shoot interview. I can imagine something similar to what Jim Cornette envisioned for the Boogeyman. A nutcase who escaped a mental institution and thinks he is a great warrior. Boy, that would have been fun to see cause he can't do the 80s Warrior with that type of crowd. Why not a storyline with New Jack? Jack dealt with the Deadman, so why not with a Warrior?
I went to watch the UConn video, I skimmed through it, and at 36:58, he's debating a student and says to him and the class, "The question was, do you know of a right without responsibility?" And a female student blurts out, "water!" He steps back and pauses for a second, points at her and says, "what are you smoking?!" Haha.
I believe that Jake was referring to after his feud with Warrior that he would be feuding with Hogan for the belt similar to the Undertaker, but since the Warrior Fell through, he instead feuded with Savage

I know Dana Warrior was probably upset, but be realistic. Yes, Warrior may be one of the greatest characters to ever grace a pro wrestling ring, but if he was a miserable prick to more than half the people he encountered, chances are they won't have too many good things to say about him
For a christmas special this year solomonster should check out the warrior's comic books, they're a real scream when it comes to showing just how nutter butters warrior was at the time. Especially the last ones in which he beats the piss out of a clear hulk hogan stand in before going on what can only be called a rampage against the WWF in which he straight up murders people before strangling the grinch who stole christmas to death and apparently killing snata then stealing his clothes.
Yeah, between his crazy ass and Jake's crazy drug/personality shit, it should be a real freak show. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing these damage cases laid under the microscope.
Jake Told The Same Story On His DVD So I Believe It. He May Have Been Referring To Championship Money And UW Could Have Easily Been Champ Again. Who Knows?
I'm looking at photos of Melanie Pillman, yea, I saw her on video before multiple times, but I just wanted to verify. He was infatuated with her? Really? Of all of the hot women back then?
I think it was for the best considering that WWF in 1997 was more or less shredding off the remnants of the New Generation Era and the egos backstage would have been worse with him in the company.
I was ten in 1987 when the Warrior debuted in WWF. Unlike all these people that grew up watching him and loved him at the time, I never liked him. Granted, I always favored the heels even as a kid, but I knew good babyfaces when I saw them, and Warrior was not the kind I wanted to see. I remember looking at him and thinking "there is no way anyone can legitimately beat this guy". I hated the running and shaking the ropes. I cringed when his music would kick on. I had no interest in his interviews and thought his personality impossible to connect with. I was planning on watching the Dark Side of the Ring episode, but it sounds like they really dropped the ball. Can't believe they didn't bring up the WCW run.
They gave Hogan Earthquake and gave Warrior Rude again after feuding for a year What did they expect a lot of people say Vince’s biggest mistake was the invasion or NWO but I think it’s Warriors title run
For me , this Season has been largely disappointing - the only one I liked was the Pillman episode - the rest have been rather forgettable - I AM looking forward to the Grizzly Smith one , which I think is the next episode And was I the only one who ... not trying to sound like a Dick, but at times, at certain times, when the first wife would cry... at some parts it seemed very forced, since she really didn't shed any tears - I am only saying - for me, that's what I felt
Jake lied all and was overly dramatic throughout DSOT. I don't think Warrior said everything Jake said he did when he asked him to work with him. Plus, Warrior wasn't champ at the time. Also, no way was Jake going to hit Warrior with a roll of quarters and beat his ass at the hall of fame.
Surprised DOSTR ( yet to watch the A & E doc) completely skipped over his WCW run, especially with the shitshow that was his match with Hogan at Halloween Havoc
Either they thought there wasn’t much to talk about it or there wasn’t much they could dig up on it that hasn’t already been shared given the short stint he had in it.
Another great episode but I think you underestimate Jake Roberts, never the smartest guy. Brilliant in the ring and the psychological game was off the charts but he wasn't a smart guy. He never had a chance from birth, his family was so messed up. I've heard grizzly (Jake's dad) described by multiple ppl as a monster and one of the worst ppl they've ever met. But I absolutely believe Jake would have showed up with a roll of quarters with the plan to get even. He was crazy enough sober but he wasn't ever sober. So his not give a shit attitude plus being high, I think you severely underestimate Jake roberts
I don t know why Dark Side of The Ring had both Jim Cornette and Jim Ross. They both had the exact same viewpoints and comments. It seems that he did genuinely regret some of his anger - but for Dana to claim he changed from a conservative to non-conservative in 4 years is total BS. (Why would he?!!)

I think this was a great, unbiased look at Warrior and what we heard from those episodes
😂
We needed Stings commentary. Also, they just skipped over his time in WCW.
To be fair Warrior pretty much skipped his time in WCW, even while he actually was there.
@@dylanstreibig9234 Yeah, you're not wrong.
@@dylanstreibig9234 Warrior in WCW (i mean after wwe run) was as worse as Cm Punk in UFC lol
they skipped his steroid allegations in the DSOTR
@@whyphy2213 Maybe that's just a given, so no need to address it.
I prefer the Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior DVD that was released in 2005.
In the words of Count Dooku: "I've been looking forward to this."
Twice the pride, double the fall
And he was dead five minutes later lol
I think he knew his time was coming hopefully he did apologize for his actions and hateful words so he could be at peace
I’ll be honest, I was kinda disappointed with this. This should’ve been two hours with all the material Warrior had said and done. Plus the bizarre about face at the end was a little jarring
There needs to be a second part called, "Being Warrior," to go over those insane rants.
@@King4sshole89 plus them glossing over his 1992 run/firing
Solo, feel the power of DESTRUCITY!
Macho and the Warrior were perfect for each other. No-one was as dramatic and colourful as Macho, other that Warrior and there was no-one as intense as the Warrior, other than Savage! Warrior, for all his faults was quite the spectacle!
I don’t know if it was intentional with the rainbow background but still nice touch.
Not sure if this was intentional, but when I watched it on demand, they would promote the Pride documentary on FX during the ad breaks.
@@bigglou that’s genius
I highly doubt it.
The blogs were far more offensive than what he said at Connecticut
Yeah, I didn't even mention the stuff on the Katrina victims or referring to Droz after his accident as "The Cripple".
@@TheSolomonster I remember going on his blog many years ago when I heard about that incident and holy shit! It was unforgivably offensive even by the standards back then, and I'm honestly surprised that Warrior never got the full cancel treatment when WWE started parading his legacy around. I know the IWC kept mentioning it, but beyond that, I haven't heard much else.
@@travismcdonald6576 facts
I thought WWE did buy like 1 million copies of Warrior's comic book for a dollar a piece and gave them out for WrestleMaina fan axxess in 1996?
Warrior in 1992 had to have shed at least 30-40 lbs of roid muscle. People thought that Jim Hellwig died and Kerry Von Erich was in the face paint due to how noticeable it was. Hogan went from Greek god to balding hot dog between 1989 and 1993.
Warrior hurt Bobby Herman at WM 5. I think Herman said on the Self Destruction DVD he was terrified when UW had him in the press slam.
Exactly 💯
What about the stuff he said about the Renegade? Poor guy didn’t have a chance.
Shame really.
It’ll always be a little wild that there’s the warrior award
Thinking about it now I'm almost positive Dark side of the ring could have maybe done 2 hours instead of only one I did see the documentary on A and E and I thought it was pretty good.
Maybe what Jake meant was his program with Warrior would have been one to elevate Jake to the title. That's how I took it Solomonster. 👍
It's always possible
Neither Vice or A&E didn't mention Warrior working with a young phenom in 1991. Undertaker
29:00 I've always compared the last Warrior promo to El Santo unmasking himself publicly two weeks before passing away
I believe that Jake was referring to after his feud with Warrior that he would be feuding with Hogan for the belt similar to the Undertaker, but since the Warrior Fell through, he instead feuded with Savage
The fact that even Warrior came back to the Company tells me that Randy Savage must have pissed Vince off badly!
Rumor has it Stephanie and him hooked up. If so, maybe that's where the animosity stems from.
@@brocklanders3616 yea i know
@@brocklanders3616 That Rumor Started Not That Long Ago And Is A Stupid One. Macho's Brother Lanny Said It Was Because He Took Slim Jim To WCW With Him.
Next week Grizzly Smith. Im not ready
Jake the Snake and Ultimate Warrior made peace on Twitter before Hall of Fame. Initially Jake said something and Warrior posted a tweet about Jake's spiritual beliefs. Then Jake said he will be the better man and make amends, and Warror also said see you at the HOF.
DSA&E. Dark Solomonster A&E. That's how you get all the deets.
@ Solomonster- Im curious as to what you wanted to see covered that wasnt by A&E and Darkside? The WCW stuff he did with Hogan is better left unsaid. It was ridiculously laughable when it wasnt meant to be. So im glad they ignored it. But im interested to know what else shouldve been covered in your mind.
I know Dana Warrior was probably upset, but be realistic. Yes, Warrior may be one of the greatest characters to ever grace a pro wrestling ring, but if he was a miserable prick to more than half the people he encountered, chances are they won't have too many good things to say about him
Hogan vs Warrior is The biggest Match of All-time in my opinion. This is the Match that got me to be a Wrestling fan.
I found the DSOR on Warrior disappointing.wasn't really very dark. The Grizzly Smith DSOR is gonna be the definition of DSOR
enjoying your vids bro,.
Thanks man
'91/92 was a weird one! We should've got Warrior vs Jake or Warrior vs 'Taker AND Savage vs Jake!
I feel like a therapist will go up a tax bracket when he Grizzly Smith doc comes out next week.
Yeah, between his crazy ass and Jake's crazy drug/personality shit, it should be a real freak show. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing these damage cases laid under the microscope.
@@lemankurtz8950 It was dark as fuck.
One thing I can take from this, Solomonster must be the most level headed person ever. I almost respect it. Nothing against Solomonster though.
I watched the A&E one and I pretty much agree with what you said about it.
Like I said before.....this Was the Remastered version of the Self destruction DVD in 2004
Jake Told The Same Story On His DVD So I Believe It. He May Have Been Referring To Championship Money And UW Could Have Easily Been Champ Again. Who Knows?
I'm looking at photos of Melanie Pillman, yea, I saw her on video before multiple times, but I just wanted to verify. He was infatuated with her? Really? Of all of the hot women back then?
good review
He tried to bring him back in 1997 never knew that wtf.
Vince hasn’t come out and was in love with Jim?
45:16 I have a son.... Paul Levesque 😂😂
They gave Hogan Earthquake and gave Warrior Rude again after feuding for a year What did they expect a lot of people say Vince’s biggest mistake was the invasion or NWO but I think it’s Warriors title run
lol for like a decade after that mid south run. I always wondered what happened to blade runner rock. Sting was cool but Rock was massive
A tale of two stories.. Jake and the phantom title run vs. Sham Roberts and the talking heads with their rose tinted childhood memories.
Yeah, I think that Damage Case is mostly full of shit.
For me , this Season has been largely disappointing - the only one I liked was the Pillman episode - the rest have been rather forgettable - I AM looking forward to the Grizzly Smith one , which I think is the next episode
And was I the only one who ... not trying to sound like a Dick, but at times, at certain times, when the first wife would cry... at some parts it seemed very forced, since she really didn't shed any tears - I am only saying - for me, that's what I felt
Didn’t watch either one, just waited to listen to your review...
I figured if the ultimate warrior and Jake had a feud after that . Either one would get a title shot with Hulk Hogan
damn right, Pilman would've put Warrior away!
One dream match I always wanted to see (match may not be good) but Goldberg vs. The Ultimate Warrior. Who you picking?
I loved the WM 12 match. Triple H is a jabroni, he's always been the greenwich posh boy to me.
I'm sorry Jake Roberts was capping in this episode
The dark side producers are big marks for Cornette and JR.

Here's a conspiracy theory I heard. Ultimate Warrior isn't dead lol!. Another celebrity death faker. LMAO, The world is a stage we're merely players in the game.
As a kid, the guy was as superhero as you could get. Shame we learn he's a fucking nutcase. Sometimes it's better to not know what your heroes really preach.
Jake Roberts is Just As Much of a Liar As Hulk Hogan It Seems Like.
dude could you imagine if Conservative Warrior nominated himself for president in 2008?! ....everyone outside of the US would hate us.
24:26 that would have been interesting if that happened
