My first memory of street hawkers was when I was really young. My dad decided to bring my grandma out suddenly after dinner. First time I when out after dinner. I was that young. We went somewhere, tables was set out on the road. My dad ordered bbq sting ray and I had my first taste of sting Ray. It was a revelation... Lol. No idea where is it, I remember a neon knife brand oil sign on the building nearby. Neon signs. Another hint as to how long ago it was. 😂
such a wonderful video! would love such hawker tours (even revisit ones are always nice) love the history and rich sharing by the stall owners.. and this must be the first time I see you playing with your food! testament to how much you enjoy it
That empty plot of land Infront is where the old hawker center is,not at roadside la but few row of unit, evening they will put out their own tables and chairs for outdoor dinning, the hokkien mee stall was the corner unit and use to be his father fried the hokkien mee, then this son take over, that plot of hand also use to have 2 HDB block but been tear down after this hawker center was build
Wow.. thanks for detailing the memories.. I haven't been here when it was downstairs.. maybe I was too young that I couldn't remember a thing.. only had memories of toa Payoh park and the bus terminal
Thank you for the very informative videos. I just wanted to know if the the public toilets in hawker centres are in good conditions?? And if they are free?
Well.. they are generally free to use. Cleanliness vary from hawker centres. All depends on the customers there. Be careful if one is of age when using the toilets as the floors can sometimes be wet. 😊
Common theme. 'I will be the last generation of Hawker'. At this rate, they will all be gone in 20 or so years and everything will be commercialized high end cafe. Not that that in itself is a bad thing but you will lose so much of the old ways of things.
@@GoodGood-vb8gm Maybe it's a cultural thing. I notice my Singaporean colleague tends to laugh when I'm talking, even though I haven't said anything amusing.
Yes !! It’s fake laugh & I find it irritating. 🤔 That’s why I don’t subscribe. Like what another viewer said ..,, I too have friends who ‘force laugh’ at just about anything. Annoying 🙃

No different from a cafe or restaurant. Not all cafes and restaurants are clean and neither are the staff. Just optics.
You should have good injected into your body if you are so OCD....😆

Why does the presenter keep laughing? It’s not like anything funny is happening…
This is a kind of habit some people use as a social-interaction tool to lighten up the mood. I myself personally don't like it.

If you get to eat like the presenter, you're a happy person!
