I like the theory that the curse of the mark is not so much an actual curse, but more so a consequence. Demon slayers with that mark inevitably get onto Muzan's radar more so than other demon slayers and thus he more actively seeks them out and kills them

The mark is not you will die before age 25 its because the blood of the mark and if older thatn 25 thers more chances or just can take it because the older the body it can be strong thats way yoriichi has it till 85 he only use the mark full power on fighting muzan or his brother and also the reason gyomei died is because of the mark if he used it one time he can survive but since in the final arc he used his mark and pushedhis body through great lengts thats why he died

The reason the mark spreads is because it’s a reaver and it gives you an andreline rush speaking for the extra energy and strength and speed it gives
