Magic!!!! Thank you so much!!! I got pretty far tonight! I'm a flatpicker, so my right has some blisters to heal!!!! Thanks so much!!!!
haha. congrats! and damn. That aint an easy feat for a flat picker! Sub, like, join the Discord and lmk how else i can help
Your timing on the release of this lesson is impeccable.
how so? Was it the credits role of some famous netflix show i've never heard of? I think that happened with me posting "waiting around to die" and I got lucky with some serious clicks because of the timing.
@R Ahahahahahhahahahahaha
The legend is back.
Ahahah. Yall internet friends make me happy. Heavens yes!!
I'm blown away man haha every time I think of a new song to learn, you've already covered it. Thanks for what you do
ha! dude, i'm a time traveler. I see your searches, then shoot back in time and learn them!!
I have to say mate this is the first guitar tutorial i have laughed out loud during. you're a great teacher, equal parts motivating and clear. thank you very much, i'll be starting on part 2 now.
Heck yeah. Thanks Tom and glad I could help! Let me know how it goes and record it and post it if you feel like it! Would love to see your progress. Please sub and share and consider the tip jar. What tune next?
This is great Mike, thanks! Been working on this one for awhile.
You're welcome! How's it coming along? Instruction clear? Too fast? It's a bit faster than my usual pace given the complexity. But I figured those who are making the attempt already have a pretty good level of picking under their belt.
Hey man! Absolutly love and appreciate the lessons! The tabs are super usefull as well. Got into guitar by listening to townes, and after seeing you explain waitin' around to die, i knew you were my go to channel! And now this tune, one of my all time favourites! Really appreciate it man, keep up the good stuff! A big thank you from a fan in Belgium!
townes is great. he got me into that outlaw country style. It's not totally my thing but his finger picking is littered all over my own songwriting.
And my friend turned me onto Doc, and then KEVIN!! made a gracious donation for me to learn this tune. So everyone in the comments needs to thank Kevin as well as I.
Belgium! My friend Kevin (haha, no but for real, another Kevin) moved to Brussels and was working there the last 5 years. He seemed to dig it.
Legend of the game. Best taste in music my brother. Doc, Townes, Mr John Hurt! Do you think you could do a tutorial for Delta Mama Blues by Townes. It’s my wife’s favourite and I’m in the dog house at the moment. I’d like to serenade her with that sweet tune. Thank you my brother. A lot of respect for this man!
Oh man. You barkin' yet? Sure! Let me add the tune to the list. But dont count on this one to get you out of the dog house, unless you plan on being locked in there for a couple of weeks. Busy days coming up, but I love this tune. I remember learning it several years again and finding it rather difficult. (hopefully i've gotten better!)
Oh man you're a genius! thank you so much for sharing your fingerpicking skills! So useful and cooool!
heck yeah, will. Join the zoom meeting! Would love to chat with ya.
thank you for the fantastic tutorials
You're very welcome! If you're getting solid value from th channel please consider monthly support and lmk how else I can help!
what a dude ! I've been wanting to learn all of these and found you yesterday ...got freaky when all the Kevins came out lol ! thanks man !
Welcome aboard the pickin' train. You'll find my channel adorable and annoying depending on the song, and the combination of your mood when viewing and my mood when filming. ;) . And woah, that would be trippy. Lots of Kevins. There are lots of Mike's but I have managed to meet a surprising few of them.
Duuuuude. This one is a dream of mine to play. Ill give it a go sometime in the future. I want to sit and watch the rain fall while I play it.
haha, good idea. Treat it as your long term piece. Dont drive yourself crazy with it. but commit to a single measure a week. Spend 5 or 10 minutes on most days working on that measure then get off it. And after a few months you'll see the goal is nearer than you thought!
Thanks for making this video mate. I had the basic song down via watching Doc and looking at tabs, but it was the little variations and various licks to add a bit of spice and flourish that I was missing and was trying to figure out. The piece sounds way better and less repetitive once you work them in. And it’s fun getting them down and slick so it all blends in. Helped me out a bunch.
glad to hear! was a labor of love transcribing it. Lmk how else I can help. And please consider support! Monthly support goes a long way to ensure more budding players get their hands on solid tabs and tutorials here at MMM. Be well, man!
Wow I love this song. I got to learn it!!
slow and steady! you can do it, Don.
Thankyou!! I’m a beginner /intermediate player..
It’s taken me 3 weeks ! But I’ve got thanks to you!! 🎶🎶🎶🎉🎉
Kat!
Kat! So glad to hear! What a long way you've come! Congrats. I'm so glad you learned from the video. If you're getting value in the channel please consider giving some back via paypal or patreon. I wanna keep crankin' em out. What song next?
What are your PayPal details?
@@MikesMusicMethod sure ! What are yr PayPal details?

Thanks Mike from Australia 🇦🇺

dont really do ragtime, but throw a song title at me and I'll give it a spin and tutorial it if I think the community would dig it!
@@MikesMusicMethod no it’s ok!
You pick the next one 🎶🎶
Yo this song crazy. I'm gonna learn it tho. As always spectacular tutorial guitar lord
I know, aint it! If you get it down, even poorly, record it and upload! Would love to see your progress Firecrakin' Narcotic.
This song (along with, oddly, Bach's Cello Suites) is what really motivated me to get serious about guitar this year.
Saved to Watch Later!
(Much... later...? hahaha! I'll get there!)
You'll get there! Learn one measure a month.Seriously. It's always good to have a piece way out of your league you put a bit of time into every practice session for long term gain. Have you looked at my Travis Picking playlist, that'll get you on your way!
@@MikesMusicMethod As you noticed, I have looked at it! I'm working on my RH picking ("Girl from the North...") while my LH injury heals. Dylan is very fast with that RH. As to a measure a month, that is an excellent idea that I've logged into a mental file. Right now, I have so many musical goals, that I feel it's best not to add another quite yet.
Literally working on this now and the winks are killing me
haha, yes!!!
Really good man! Thank you for this! Spent around two weeks practicing this part. Waiting for Part 2. All the best!
thanks!! you're the first to ask. I'll get on it.
@@MikesMusicMethod I hope you find time, thanks!
Great playing!
thanks Jeremy. Took quite a bit of rehearsing.
This one is on the list.
oophff... haha, slow and steady there, big guy!
my next song i’m gonna learn from you. Made tecumseh valley much, much easier for me and the tabs on your website really helped
glad I could help Joe. And if you continue to get value from the channel please consider monthly support if you havent already. This one is tricky, so take it slow!
Thank you so much for posting this!! You da man!!!
heck yeah. Was a real challenge and lots of fun to figure out.
@@MikesMusicMethod it's the transition into first position that's tripping me up. Trying to finagle my hand around to get the rhythm right. Maybe you could show me what I'm doing wrong? Maybe I'm making it harder than it has to be but I'm just following the directions lol.
@@Ledzepfan88 haha, make a video and link me. You can make it private and just share the link if your embarrassed. ;) Or sign up and take a lesson with me!
@@MikesMusicMethod how much are lessons? I'll wait a week for my blisters to subside ahaha 🤣 I've got blistahs on my fingahz
@@Ledzepfan88 haha, Ringo. Shoot me an email MikesMusicMethod@gmail.com and I'll give you the low down on lessons.
Thank you so much for sharing music and joy with the world! I appreciate all the time you put into these. Ever considered doing any Nick Drake or celtic folk songs?
Thanks nicholas. I appreciate the comment. Email me at MikesMusicMethod@gmail.com otherwise the recs get lost. Which Drake tunes? And i'd love to know more about celtic folk...email me some links!
Let it rain let it pour Let it rain a whole lot more!
you know i've got 'em to.
Nice one Mike 👍
thanks, this one is a JAM!
Love your tutorials :) would love to see one for Vincent by Don McLean!
Thanks, man! I dont know the tune. Let me check it out.
you are so sunny person)) stay with you) helloy from Russia)
thank you! and I will try my best! Where in Russia? I want to come visit your Orthodox Churches.
@@MikesMusicMethod from the Urals) you can find a lot of the old churches in the Nevyansk city, close to my native Ekaterinburg city. )
Hey Kevin you’re one lad
Complicated song... but thanks to you I almost got it ! You are the coolest 😎
makes me so happy to hear! I'm pretty cool. Please sub and consider the value for value model.
Yes, Sir ! 🍻
Nice man
Thanks! please sub and share. what song next?
Also congrats for slamming the song!
You're welcome. My kids and wife have a love hate relationship with this song now.
Well good thing doc has so many others! I’m dying watching the vid...the wink bahahah
Only took me two years, but I can finally play the intro at speed. Do a tutorial of the Tommy Emmanuel version next. 😂
dude, Congrats! That's a heck of an achievement! Woot woot! What song are you gonna tackle next? And feel free to email me a vid of you doing it if you want some feedback and pointers.
@@MikesMusicMethod Next up is the rest of the song and practicing all the flourishes and dynamics while also singing. I dunno what it is about your way of explaining it, maybe it's the lack of constant tabs on screen or the comic relief, but I find it sticks in my head better than other video tutorials. I just may do that! After I get my D-28 out of the pawnshop anyway. My Yamaha backup just doesn't quite sound right on recordings.
Love that Gretsch bro 😀
it does the job.
This is a good one Mike. But f' hard. Don't you think we can play the entire song with part one of your lesson ? And thanks Kevin !
Romain. Very very hard. Try 4 measures at a time. Believe it or not the song keeps on going with different fills and runs and embellishments. But sure, you can probably simplify some of these ideas when you sing and do some improvising.
I fucking love u dude! Thank you so much!!
welcome, ola!
:D :D :D dude you're the best!
!! oh yeah!
Oh my God, how mutch money he give you, Kevin, to make you so crazy?
not enough!
3rd bar always crucifies me man....not so easy when you’ve been playin heavy metal for over 30 years, but keep at it😉
Maybe wanna lay off the beers a little tho...comin across as a bit of a bellend, (wink)😉
haha, i hear ya. I grew up on thrash metal so I understand. I'm still 4x faster with a pick than I am with my fingers from the stupid hours I put in trying to learn Mustaine, Yngwie, and Satriani riffs. Honestly it's the distorted guitar. I can only handle so many minutes of exposure to a distorted guitar. What bands are you into?
@@MikesMusicMethod ruclips.net/video/P2CaXwjS8Xs/видео.html I joined a thrash metal band here in the U.K. in 1987 as lead guitarist, now after 30 years I am also the vocalist & only original member... we were on Combat records in the 80’s along side Death, Death Angel, Megadeth, Kreator, Nuclear Assault, Overkill, Anthrax, Cro-Mags etc...Now back on Combat records we released our first album 30 years, this is the first video from it. Enjoy Mike🤘🏴🤘
You do realise Mike, Doc Watson did all the melody with one finger?
This song is way heavier than I thought.
hard!
I think im like half of the views by this point
lololol hang in there, Jack!! You can do it! Anything tripping you up in particular?
Happy to talk ya through any trouble spots via a short Zoom call.
@@MikesMusicMethod neighbors must have this song stuck in their heads by now. I finally got through the entire first video note for note. Thanks so much (also yes IPAs are overrated) hahaha. On to video #2!
@@jackhall5913 Jack, congrats man! Share a video of your efforts, would love to see it! And keep me posted on what song next. Please consider the value 4 value with some support. Was that video worth a private guitar lesson, a cup of joe, monthly support? Consider your buddy Mike! ;) Be well, jack!
