The theme of Ichibei removing names for the position of 'king' is thematic and chilling since once the subject is taken, all traces of identity are erased, said subject is now a husk to be drained for eternity. Harribel saw this process and, although nothing is described, it was bad enough for her to understand why Aizen wished to dispose of this system. This coming from someone who nearly met tragedy at Aizen's blade.
Not just that. Harribel felt genuine pity towards the person who assaulted her, her home and slaughtered plus recruited her fellow hollows. All this even though there was nothing to gain in hueco mundo. Death or erasure would have been too merciful for Yhwach.
itd be cool if each of the noble families has a hidden item used to thwart one aspect of Reio's powers. Hakkyoken deals with his light for example. another shields them from his view. etc.
These sacred weapons really flew under the Quincies radar. The nobility clearly has tool with which they can keep their authority over even the op Gotei 13. Not just Nanao and Tokinada swords. Maybe even something to control the mind.
@QuincyArmy-dd7mb I meant something to control the minds of the soul reapers but yeah it kinda goes into the direction. In fade to black, Mayuri was confirmed to regularly install a backup of his memories. He is probably cautious about having his memories erased somehow.
I think the curse of the Ise clan Zanpakuto is subtly implied through Nanao’s injury from the light reflection wounding her leg- reflecting the power of god means you’re just as likely to be hurt in the process in exchange if you’re not careful
I think it’s more poetic. You wield the power to reflect like a mirror but you yourself lack a reflection. Ironic considering nanao’s captain controls shadows
Taking all the things we know so far, I think that Ichibē created reality the way he wanted, and that Reio was tricked, and in some way his powers of predicting the future were thwarted. I think this is because there are so many people, ancestral beings before the division of the worlds, and Ichibē as one of the monks of that one world that existed, he planned or someone else did, and led this action to change everything, and that the original heads of the noble families carried out this plan with Ichibē, to use the sacred Weapons to create new worlds, but they needed a being with enough power and "uniqueness" to hold those worlds, as the key point of the tower that holds everything. Somehow they bypassed Reio's abilities, and dismembered him in that water or somewhere else, Ichibē was holding Reio's torso as we see in the flashback, and Ichibē looks like a villain there, or at least that's how he is presented, and his duty is the construction of everything and the naming of everything, to make everyone believe his truth, how he named everything and gave everything a meaning to everything with that Ichimonji brush, and I'm sure that weapon wasn't his because it is not a traditional zanpakuto, but a sacred weapon that over time became attached to him. The noble families now controlled this new system, while Ichibē ensures that everything is up and running, but there was a problem the son of Reio came to destroy this lie that the noble families and Ichibē created, but since he did not have all his powers he could not defeat Yamamoto, and so he had to wait for the next opportunity to try again, but more prepared. That's my theory, I've somehow connected a lot of things in my head, this doesn't have to be true, but this is the only picture I see until Kubo reveals more.
I wish Kubo expanded more on the sacred weapons and tools. Who created them? Who were they fighting that required such powerful items? Why are some of them cursed? How come they're so powerful even when they're not Zanpakutos?
What if the sacred swords are the first iteration of Zanpakutou before Nimaya came up with the concept of Asauchi? Like they're his first attempts to forge Shinigami souls into swords.
I believe that these swords are zanpaktos that once belonged to powerful beings before the worlds were separated. They are not cursed; instead, they adhere to the original world's order, where life and death coexist. This connection is likely why they shorten people's lives in the current world system. By the way, Ichbei is an exception because he is from the original world.
One question is what were the Shinigami before the worlds were split? Also its all Noble families that lose their spouse, which was one of the reasons Rukia and Renjis marriage was so odd. The curse ended with YHWACH becoming the Soul King.
@KingJaffe-p1c she's Byakuya and Hisanas daughter, born out of wedlock. Hisana was a Shinigami, her blade was Sode NoMei, he promised his wife her would never tell her the truth that in desperation running from an assassin, from Tokinada,Hisana was forced to abandon her. When Rukia used he Bankai, Byakuya at minus 100° Celsius was able to touch Rukia, and not be affected. When Byakuya destroyed her Zanpakuto, they were able to reintegrate it because they are blood. It's why Tokinada pushed for Rukias Execution in such a fast pace. Hisana is from Ukitakes Blood line. He's her Uncle
I think that It's a sword that we have yet to see anywhere else in the series. Shinken Hakkyoken clearly doesn't look the same as the sword in question has a curve to it and a handle like hilt. It also is unlikely to be the Shihoin clan sword since we have no reason to believe that the Shihoin are special enough to receive it while the other noble families aren't. It's likely that the Shihoin clan sword is more like Enrakyoten, Muramasa, or Hakkyoken then what was used on the Soul King. And the sword in question certainly wasn't ichimonji either so hopefully we learn more in the coming episodes.
lol y'all keep trying to push this evil ichibe narrative. He isn't good, don't get me wrong, but he knows that the soul king knew what would happen to him via the Almighty and still went along with it.
It's possible he was tricked, or his power was thwarted just like Yhwach's. There seem to be many "weapons"/"artifacts" that are popping up that simply negate OP powers. Ryuken's Silver Arrow, the Ise's Hakkyoken. We'll probably see another with Gerard as a new scene too. Anyway, there are way too many hints of a corrupt history/backstory to deny it existing at this point, and as we all know Ichibe wrote that history.

If we consider Muramasa Canon then the Kuchiki clan has the one to control the minds, of zanpakuto of course.

what a greeting at the beginning do that often 😅😅

@KingJaffe-p1c it's the same assassin, that killed those two kids in the Third movie. The same Shinigami Tokinada killed when he killed his wife

But why would the Ise family need to use the sacred sword to dismember the Soul King if he was willing to go through it?
Need on what we see during Ichigo's Palace training, I think it's safe to say that Ichibei is an unreliable narrator.
nobody worships ichibei sword. its not even a sword its a brush like senjumaru's needle.
Senjumaru's "needle" is a real zanpakuto, not an ancient relic like Ichibe's Ichimonji.
